Capcom at San Diego Comic-Con 2022!

Jul 07, 2022 // Andy Wong

Capcom will be at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 from July 21-24! Play hands-on demos for Street Fighter 6, Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, and Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium. We’ll also be hosting two panels, one for Street Fighter 6 and our trademark World of Capcom panel.

Street Fighter 6

You bring the shades. We’ll bring the street. Play Street Fighter 6 at San Diego Comic-Con 2022 from July 21-24 or get in the rhythm of our other activities throughout the weekend. Find us at Booth #215! As the first public hands-on demo in North America, you’ll get to play Luke, Jamie, Ryu, and Chun-Li in Versus Mode against the CPU or another player while experiencing the brand new Drive System – all in our Metro City-themed booth! Try out the new Real Time Commentator Feature where Vicious and Aru can be selected to provide commentary for your match.

Stop by our photo op where you can watch the live creation of digital graffiti from show opening until 1pm PT. Then strike a pose for the camera in front of the newly created graffiti with Street Fighter 6 backdrops until the end of the show. Do a Hadoken towards the camera or your best impression of Chun-Li’s Lightning Legs! Post your photos on social media and make sure to tag us @StreetFighter and use the #StreetFighter6 hashtag.

Since you’ll be stepping into a pocket of Metro City, graffiti artists will be tagging a section of the booth and displaying their work for all to see. There will be a different piece of art created each day of SDCC and the finished pieces will also be posted on our social channels.

Finally, a developer panel will be taking place where members of the development team will be delivering a deep dive into the revealed characters and provide more insight into how Street Fighter 6 is being developed. We’ll also be hosting trivia during this panel where you can win some knockout prizes. Stay tuned for more information on the date and time of this panel.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak

Sunbreak launched on June 30, but if you want to try it out before picking it up, stop by our booth at SDCC. The beginner hunt against a Great Izuchi and the intermediate hunt facing off against a Tetranadon are great entry points to learn (or remember) the basics. There’s also a few training quests to get you familiar with the game’s mechanics, including the new Switch Skill Swap. On expert difficulty, you can face Astalos, one of the new monsters in Sunbreak.

Finally, if you’re looking for a big challenge, try battling Sunbreak’s flagship monster Malzeno in a super tough advanced quest! Remember, this hunt is a special challenge tuned just for the demo, and has a shorter time limit than what you might experience in the full game.

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium

Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium will be available to play in its entirety at SDCC, which means you can enjoy up to 32 titles during your demo time. Some titles you can play are SONSON, STREET FIGHTER ALPHA 3, MEGAMAN – THE POWER BATTLE –, ECO FIGHTERS, and THREE WONDERS. Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium has a slew of features that will help customize your experience. Use the REWIND button to go back in time to fix a mistake you might have made, save and load mid-game with save slots, adjust the difficulty for most games, and use the optional filters to provide a gaming atmosphere to your liking! Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium launches on July 22 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.

We’ll have more information on the two panels in the near future, so keep an eye on our social channels. We hope to see you at San Diego Comic-Con!

A Final Look at Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Ahead of Launch!

Jun 28, 2022 // Joseph Bustos

New Monsters Revealed

The wait for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is nearly over! To get you through the final days of waiting, we dropped a new story trailer with a few hints at what awaits.

Check out the trailer and read on for the breakdown of the news.

New Faces Join the Monster Mash

Experienced hunters out there familiar with the lore behind Gore Magala might have had a feeling this one was coming. Say hello to Shagaru Magala, the adult form of Gore Magala in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak! Covered in glittering scales and wrapped in divine wings, this Elder Dragon is even more powerful and ferocious than its younger form.

Although you’ll already be finding a renewed challenge with the Master Rank incarnation of Rajang, it wouldn’t be right to stop there. Enter Furious Rajang. A typical Rajang turns gold when it gets angry before returning to its normal, black-furred state. This variant is always fuming mad, and stays perpetually covered in golden fur. This is an intense challenge that will keep you on your toes at all times, so be ready!

Hello, old friend! Turns out we weren’t quite done with Magnamalo after all those hunts in Monster Hunter Rise. A new variant of the already imposing Rise flagship monster joins Sunbreak in the form of Scorned Magnamalo. This monster is even more twisted and malevolent, shrouded in Hellfire at all times, and wields even bigger arm blades and hardened armor plating.

We’ve revealed many monsters and new features making their way into Sunbreak, but you’ll need to play the game for yourself to get the full picture. We can’t wait for you to get your hands on it and see what’s out there waiting for you.

On the Horizon

As we mentioned previously, Lucent Nargacuga and the Forlorn Arena locale will be added to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak in the first title update set to launch in August. Today, we’re excited to give a small tease at Seething Bazelgeuse, an explosive returning rare species also set to roar into Sunbreak!

We’ll be sharing more details – including unannounced monsters – in future announcements, so stay tuned. In the meantime, here’s a look at our updated free title update roadmap, with much to look forward to ahead.

Preparing for the Hunt

New to Monster Hunter Rise and want to get into the action of Sunbreak as soon as possible? You’ll need to complete the Hub 7★ Quest: Serpent Goddess of Thunder to experience the new content in Sunbreak. To help you out, a free update will add both the sturdy Black Belt S armor set and a powerful new high rank defender weapon tree to help you fast track your way to Master Rank.

Check out the trailer below for the details.

Available via Senri the Mailman, the new Black Belt S armor set includes a high defense stat to get you through some of the tougher high rank monsters. Plus, all 14 Defender Weapons now have a high rank upgrade tree. These weapons were made available in a previous update, so all you need to do is head to Senri the Mailman to make sure you have the original Defender Weapons.

Keep upgrading your Defender Weapons as you progress through quests, and you’ll be well equipped to tackle some of the base Monster Hunter Rise’s late game challenges.

These new items are being added as part of Monster Hunter Rise Ver. 10. Note that the update will be available on Nintendo Switch on June 29, 2022, while the PC/Steam update will release alongside Sunbreak on June 30, 2022.

That wraps up our final news update before the launch of Sunbreak on June 30th. The time to set sail for Elgado and embark on some thrilling new hunts is nearly upon us. We’re all incredibly excited for you to get the game into your hands and hear what you think!

Of course, launch day is big milestone, but as you can tell there’s plenty more ahead for Sunbreak. Keep on following the @MonsterHunter social channels and let us know how your adventures are going.

Happy hunting and good luck with your quest to save the Kingdom!

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection Transmits 10 Classic Games to Modern Platforms in 2023!

Jun 28, 2022 // Kellen Haney

Get your PErsonal Terminal ready – Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is on the way, bringing ten .EXEllent adventures to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2023!

You read that right – ten adventures featuring Lan Hikari and MegaMan.EXE are on the way, including:

  • Mega Man™ Battle Network
  • Mega Man™ Battle Network 2
  • Mega Man™ Battle Network 3 White
  • Mega Man™ Battle Network 3 Blue
  • Mega Man™ Battle Network 4 Red Sun
  • Mega Man™ Battle Network 4 Blue Moon
  • Mega Man™ Battle Network 5 Team Protoman
  • Mega Man™ Battle Network 5 Team Colonel
  • Mega Man™ Battle Network 6 Cybeast Gregar
  • Mega Man™ Battle Network 6 Cybeast Falzar

For Netizens not in the know, the world of Mega Man Battle Network is set against the backdrop of Net Society. In this near-future world, everything is connected, from home electronics to ovens to the infrastructure of entire cities! It’s up to programs known as Network Navigators – or NetNavis, for short – to access the Internet via a device called a PET, or PErsonal Terminal (Bet some of you thought that was a typo earlier, didn’t you?). Thanks to the power of PETs, humans and NetNavis can easily communicate with one another, and people can bring their NetNavi with them wherever they go.

It’s in this near-future world that you’ll join Lan Hikari and his NetNavi, MegaMan.EXE. With viruses running rampant on the Internet and a mysterious organization known as WWW – or World Three – looming in the shadows, it’s up to Lan and MegaMan to untangle a web of mysterious events that threaten to delete peaceful Net Society!

Fortunately, busting viruses is MegaMan’s specialty. Using a unique battle system that mixes action and card games, battles are handled with a mix of grid-based movement and by using battle chips that are randomly drawn from your deck. MegaMan will always have his trusty Mega Buster at the ready, but the right Battle Chip in between rounds can make all the difference! Need to do a lot of damage to a single target? The Cannon chip has got your back. Want to get up close and personal, but the single-tile Sword won’t cut it? Use an Area Grab to claim more of the field, then move in to delete viruses in a flash! As time goes on, you’ll be able to make powerful combinations that can help you defeat even the most sinister foes and earn greater rewards along the way.

While MegaMan.EXE is distinctly different from some of his similarly-named predecessors, he still has plenty of ways to power up. Different games will offer different forms, allowing MegaMan to take on elemental properties, bond with other NetNavis to unlock new capabilities, or explore the darker side of the Internet. Meanwhile, Lan will have his own tasks to handle including investigating cybercrimes, forging new bonds with his friends, and even learning more about himself and the true nature of what MegaMan is capable of.

In addition to the ten games above, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection also features optional high-resolution filters that allow PET owners to enjoy smooth visuals or revisit the original pixel art that helped define the style of the original games. Plus, over 1,000 pieces of art are included in the Gallery, spanning concept art, character sketches, and official illustrations. The additional “Mystery Data” section also includes unique illustrations and images of licensed goods, and the Music Player offers over 180 tunes for you to rock out to when you and your NetNavi aren’t busy exploring Cyberspace.

That’s all we’ve got for now, but be sure to log on and direct your personal NetNavi towards the official Mega Man Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram on – where else? – the Internet for all the latest info on Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC in 2023!

Celebrating Pride Month with Capcom Creators

Jun 27, 2022 // Andy Wong

We’re celebrating Pride Month by spotlighting Capcom Creators who identify as LGBTQIA+! Pride Month takes place each year in June and is a time when people from all backgrounds and identities can come together to simply be themselves. It’s also a time to bring to light the continued prejudice that members of the LGBTQIA+ community face every day around the world.

Capcom Creators come from all walks of life and are a diverse group of people who represent the world we live in today – a world full of gamers who delve into different stories and characters ripe with imagination. We’d like to thank our Capcom Creators for their continued support for one another and for us.

We reached out to 10 of our LGBTQIA+ Capcom Creators and asked them what it meant to them to be part of this community and who their favorite Capcom character(s) is?

Between Two Gays – Jayce (he/him) and Ryan (they/them)

Channel – https://twitch.tv/betweentwogays

Being LGBTQ+ to us means living our truth in the face of adversity. There is no right or wrong way to be a queer person despite what the world frequently tells us. It means a person who presents more masculine can be nonbinary just as much as a feminine or androgynous-presenting person. Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community means finding your own path through life, one outside the lines etched into the sand by society. And most importantly, to be queer is to be a person with their own unique traits and just as much value as anybody else.

Mega Man has always been my favorite Capcom character. The way he adapts to his surroundings and overcomes adversity by taking on the powers of people who want to hurt him has always resonated with me. I think it’s because in a lot of ways the way Mega Man fights his enemies can be seen as an allegory for the way I and so many other queer people would code switch (tone down traits that make us different, and adopt straight mannerisms) in order to survive growing up in conservative households in the south. Mega Man taught me that there is strength in adaptability and that you can adapt without losing who you are at your core.

Cherry (she/they)

Channel – https://Instagram.com/cherrylmao

Being LGBTQ+ is a part of my identity. It’s the freedom to love myself and express myself and love others equally as much. I am pansexual and genderfluid, and I’ve been out with my identity for almost 10 years now! Apart from being comfortable with my identity, I’ve used my cosplay career to advocate the same positivity and inclusivity with the LGBTQ+ community in cosplay.

My favorite Capcom character is Claire Redfield from Resident Evil, because she embodies the empowerment of women throughout the Resident Evil franchise. She allows others to assist her, but never save her without doing anything herself. She is an icon for all women and non-binary folk.

TiffanyLockheart (she/her)

Channel – https://www.twitch.tv/tiffanylockheart

Being LGBTQ+ is something I struggled with growing up, something I wasn’t sure with myself but I’m comfortable to be bisexual and help everyone be comfortable with who they are.

My favorite Capcom character is Leon Kennedy! Resident Evil 2 was one of the first games I played as a kid with my father and I always loved the whole “it’s my first day as a cop and I have to struggle and escape.”

iamBrandon (he/him)

Channel – Twitch.tv/iambrandon

Being LGBTQ+ is a part of who I am so ultimately it is me whole-heartily.

My favorite Capcom character is Jill Valentine. She is a fierce character throughout the Resident Evil series, good or bad, and has proven time and time again that she will always come out on top.

Beepsalt (they/them)

Channel – twitch.tv/beepsalt

Being able to be myself is very important. It’s a lot of work to try to hide any aspect of yourself and sharing it with other people brings me joy. Being LGBTQ means there’s a group of people who have struggled similarly, or also don’t get representation as much, and I love to be able to let them know that there are other similar people out there. It helps me feel not alone in the world.

My favorite Capcom character is Barry Burton from Resident Evil. I absolutely love his energy. The dad vibes, plus how much he cares about everyone around him. Definitely a no-nonsense kind of cool guy.

Ezikeyal

Channel – https://www.twitch.tv/ezikeyal

Being nonbinary and pansexual means quite a bit to be able to have pride in who I am and what makes me, and ultimately all of us, different. It’s about not feeling shame for coming to understand yourself and wanting to feel comfortable in your own skin.

My favorite Capcom character is Leon Kennedy. Throughout the RE franchise, Leon has been dealt a bad hand from the jump, but from being a rookie cop on a bad day to saving the world numerous times, it’s a hell of a hero’s journey.

Jed (she/her, they/them)

Channel – https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMLoHDXwG/

Being LGBT means being your authentic self and not compromising for society’s pre-set rules and expectations for gender and sexual identity.

My favorite Capcom character is Brad Vickers or Jill Valentine. It’s so hard to choose. Brad, because he shows that even the most fearful person can become a hero when the people he cares about are in trouble. In RE3, he saves Jill’s life at the expense of his own, redeeming his previous character arc in RE1. Jill, because in the face of so much adversity, horror and desolation, she remains strong, brave and unwavering. She is one of the most iconic and inspiring female video game characters in history, and provides a role model for female-identifying gamers.

Rene Sarjeant (he/him)

Channel – https://www.twitch.tv/renesarjeant

Being LGBTQ means being self-aware I suppose? My step-sister came out in the 70s in high school when being gay was physically dangerous. I only recently came out as bi to my wife and family in the past few years. Self-aware is probably the best answer. I’m 61 years old, by the way.

Rosemary Winters from Resident Evil Village is my favorite Capcom character.

Kyoslilmonster (He/They)

Channel – www.twitch.tv/kyoslilmonster

Being LGBTQ means being true to myself, being true to others, and loving myself as I do others. Being part of the LGBTQ community is a place I feel at home, welcome, and comfortable in my own skin.

I unironically, love Dante from Devil May Cry the most. He’s brash, vulgar, but has a heart and is brutally honest with himself and his feelings.

PiratePrincessJess (she/her)

Channel – twitch.tv/PiratePrincessJess

I’m a transgender woman, and being part of the LGBTQ community means that I have a community of people who love and accept me for who I am.

My favorite Capcom character is Jill Valentine! The Resident Evil franchise helped me through a very tough time before I came out. I was able to live as my authentic self, and RE3 was the first one I played, so Jill means a lot to me.

We want to thank our Capcom Creators for providing these amazing insights and comments. Happy Pride!

Lions and vampires and robots, OH MY! Capcom Fighting Collection is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Relive 10 arcade classics from Darkstalkers, Cyberbots, Red Earth, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, and more.

Miss the good ‘ole days of stacking quarters at the arcade? Have a Darkstalkers obsession you want to share with fellow fans? Yeah, we do, too. Fortunately for us all, Capcom Fighting Collection is here to save the day – complete with 10 different fighting games that will transport players back to the arcades of the 90s like no other game collection can!

Before we tell you more about Capcom Fighting Collection, we have an entire week of streamers from our Capcom Creators going live from June 27 – July 1 from 11AM-5PM PT. We’ll be hosting them on our official Twitch page, but also tune in on each Creator’s channels! https://www.twitch.tv/capcomusa

Here’s a quick tour of all the titles waiting to take players back to the heyday of arcades.

All 5 DarkstalkersIt’s spooky, it’s scary, it’s every game in the Darkstalkers series all in one haunting collection for the first time ever outside of Japan. From Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors (1994) to Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire (1997), players can select fan-favorite characters such as the charming Morrigan and exuberant Felicia, or take a stab at more specialized characters like the deadly Huitzil and aquatic Rikuo. There’s no need to wait for a full moon to play Darkstalkers when you can play them now. (Note: Vampire Hunter 2 – Darkstalkers’ Revenge and Vampire Savior 2 – The Lord of Vampire are only available in Japanese).

Red Earth A unique fighting game with an RPG-like system is making its debut outside of arcades. Red Earth, also known as War-Zard in Japan, has fantasy-inspired characters like the witch Tessa and the lion-headed king Leo. Thou can select either the single-player Quest Mode or the two-player Versus Mode depending on thine preferences. Dost thou have what it takes to save the kingdom of Greedia?

Cyberbots: Fullmetal MadnessMany Capcom fans might know Jin Saotome, but few have played the game he hails from. Cyberbots is another unique fighting game where players select the pilot along with the Variant Armor. While the pilot controls the story, the Variant Armor controls the move-set. Players looking for massive space battles with mechas need not look any further than Cyberbots.

Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo – Puzzle fans, unite! Characters from Darkstalkers, Cyberbots, and Street Fighter go head-to-head in this puzzle game where players must match blocks of the same color in order deal blows to their opponent or to simply survive. Be wary of the glorious diamond piece, which can end the game in one fell swoop.

Hyper Street Fighter II Containing all five versions of Street Fighter II – making it a collection within a collection – Hyper Street Fighter II is an ode to the classic era of the series that made Street Fighter a household name.

Super Gem Fighter Mini MixFeaturing “chibi” designs for characters from Darkstalkers, Street Fighter, and even Red Earth, this chaotic – and very cute – fighting game is chock-full of power-up gems, elemental orbs, and treasure chests that can turn the tide of any match.

Dragon’s Dogma II Prepares to Begin the Cycle Anew

Jun 16, 2022 // Kellen Haney

Well met, brave Arisen.

A part of today’s “10 Years of Dragon’s Dogma” Developer Video, director Hideaki Itsuno officially announced a title that many of you have been waiting for: Dragon’s Dogma II is now in development!

In case you missed it, watch the video above for the full message, or read our quick recap below!

Mr. Itsuno recalls how his earliest experiences with high fantasy were thanks to classic pen-and-paper role playing games. This resulted in his love of RPGs as a whole, something that he would carry with him throughout his time working on arcade titles for Capcom throughout the 90’s. By 2000, Mr. Itsuno began to build out his own fantasy world, one that would eventually become what we now know as Dragon’s Dogma.

Touching on how the team built out the land of Gransys, the reason behind the game’s unique Pawn System, and the titles he worked on in between his initial concept for Dragon’s Dogma and the game’s release, we encourage Arisen of all types to enjoy Mr. Itsuno’s reflections on his time developing the original game and the thrill of the surprise announcement of Dragon’s Dogma II.

To celebrate, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is also be on sale on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam, making it the perfect time to explore the world of Gransys and prepare yourself for what lies ahead. They’re masteworks, all – you can’t go wrong.

While the team is hard at work on Dragon’s Dogma II, follow the Dragon’s Dogma Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts for all the latest news, activities, and celebrations of this momentous anniversary for Dragon’s Dogma!

Resident Evil, Exoprimal, Monster Hunter, and More Take Center Stage in the Capcom Showcase

Jun 13, 2022 // Joseph Bustos

Diving Deep into the Details.

We shared a host of news and announcements from a wide range of upcoming Capcom games in today’s Capcom Showcase!

Check out a recording of the full broadcast for yourself below, or read on for the full summary of everything we showed.

Resident Evil Has a Selection of Good Things on the Way, Stranger

Last year, we announced DLC for Resident Evil Village, and now we’re excited to finally share a first glimpse. The new DLC, titled the Winters’ Expansion arrives on October 28, 2022 on all available platforms, with Resident Evil Village Gold Edition releasing at the same time.

Set 16 years after the events of Resident Evil Village, Shadows of Rose is a new tale that follows Rose Winters, the daughter of main protagonist Ethan, as she struggles with her terrifying powers. You’ll explore and survive a warped and mysterious realm inside the consciousness of the Megamycete in search of a cure.

This new story content isn’t all the Winters’ Expansion has in store. TheMercenaries Additional Orders is an update to the classic arcade action mode bringing new stages and new playable characters – Chris Redfield, Heisenberg, and yes, Lady Dimitrescu herself!

For those of you looking to experience Ethan’s harrowing journey from another viewpoint, you’re in luck. A new Third-Person Mode for Resident Evil Village is being added to the main campaign, letting you play the entire journey in a different way.

All of this content will be included in Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, a bundle of Winters’ Expansion and the main game, which launches alongside the DLC on October 28, 2022. Resident Evil Re:Verse, an online multiplayer experience included with new purchases of Resident Evil Village, will also go live on the same date.

We also showed an extended look at the newly announcedResident Evil 4. Director Yasuhiro Ampo and Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi shared their vision for this modern reimagining of the 2005 classic. The development team is aiming to dial up the original game’s feeling of loneliness and the fear of enemies blinded by zealotry. Resident Evil 4 launches next year on March 24, 2023.

Oh, and one more thing. Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 7 biohazard reanimate today on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with 4K resolution, ray tracing, high frame rate, and 3D audio. DualSense™ haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support is also available on PlayStation 5. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players can upgrade at no additional cost via the digital upgrade program and Smart Delivery. These upgrades will also be available today on PC via a patch.

An Early Dinosaur Outbreak on the Horizon in Exoprimal!

Your first opportunity to repel swarms of dinosaurs in Exoprimal arrives next month. Register today for a chance to participate in the Closed Network Test on Steam for PC this July, and be among the first Exofighters to try this team-based action game before it deploys in 2023.

ExoprimalDirector Takuro Hiraoka shared a briefing on the dynamic main game mode, Dino Survival. In this multiplayer experience, two squads of five Exofighters race to complete orders assigned by Leviathan, the sinister artificial intelligence who guides players through missions. Teams must complete missions before their rivals to win, and continue searching for a way to escape Leviathan’s deadly games.

The new trailer teased a selection of objectives that make up Dino Survival, including VTOL Defense, where squads defend downed aircraft from dinosaur onslaughts, and Omega Charge, which introduces a massive hammer that Exofighters will wield to obliterate targets.

We also unveiled two new Assault class Exosuits that are absolutely armed to the teeth. Barrage, a burning bombardier, and the rail gun-wielding sniper Vigilant. These two join a growing armory of futuristic suits that teams can swap between on-the-fly to coordinate and overcome any challenge.

While many situations will put you against hordes of dinosaurs, there are others where you’ll clash directly with opposing squads, and even some where rival teams must band together to take-down common foes, like the twisted Neo Tyrannosaurus.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak – Capcom Showcase June 13, 2022 Recap

Jun 13, 2022 // Joseph Bustos

Illuminating the trail ahead.

A new locale, new monsters, a free demo, and a look ahead at the future of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak were revealed in today’s Capcom Showcase.

We’ve got a lot to cover, so let’s get to it! First up, here’s our latest trailer.

The Jungle area from the second generation of Monster Hunter games swings into the hunt! Now in Sunbreak, you’ll be able to venture your way through the region’s scenic sandy shoreline, all the way to the lush and dense greenery that challenging monsters call home.

Exciting hunts await you in the Jungle, featuring veteran monsters and fresh faces. Speaking of monsters…

The Ultimate Frontier

We’ve already revealed a few monsters coming in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, but of course there’s still plenty more to share. How about we start with a highly requested (and VERY exciting) fan favorite?

Say hello to the flagship monster from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, Gore Magala! There’s a lot of you experienced hunters out there who have been asking for Gore Magala’s return, so hopefully this reveal had you on the edge of your seat. This sinister six-limbed blind wyvern brings its signature Frenzy Virus to the battle, marked by the black and purple mist it scatters.

Espinas, the Thorn Wyvern, makes its grand return to the series. For many this might be your first introduction to Espinas since it’s only appeared in Monster Hunter Frontier. Its signature venomous pink horn at the front of its head poses a serious threat. And if that wasn’t enough, Espinas can unleash powerful toxic fireballs. It may look threatening at a glance, but this monster loves getting its beauty sleep and hitting snooze – absorbing a few attacks before finally waking up.

Is that some kind of cave demon? Nope! Turns out, Shogun Ceanataur isn’t the only carapaceon coming to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Today we revealed a small look at the returning Daimyo Hermitaur. Your attacks will be useless when it uses its massive claws to form a tough shield. Those claws aren’t just for defense, either – they could rip a hunter apart! Concentrate, and focus on your hunting techniques with this one…

Eagle eyed hunters might have had suspicions that a new Rakna-Kadaki subspecies was discovered. We’re excited to finally share the details. Meet Pyre Rakna-Kadaki, a fiery subspecies that turns up the heat with flame infused silk strands and, of course, superheated Rachnoid.

The Hunt Starts Now!

Your chance to go hands-on with Sunbreak is almost here. The demo for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak releases on both Nintendo Switch and Steam on June 14 shortly following 7 p.m. PDT. Explore the new Jungle region, go toe-to-toe with a few Sunbreak monsters, and try out new hunting actions.

If you’re new to Monster Hunter Rise or just looking to clear out your hunting cobwebs, the beginner hunt against a Great Izuchi and the intermediate hunt facing off against a Tetranadon are great entry points to learn (or remember) the basics. There’s also a few training quests to get you familiar with the game’s mechanics, including the new Switch Skill Swap.

Want to step things up a notch? With the expert difficulty, you’ll be challenged with slaying the electrifying Astalos, one of the new monsters in Sunbreak.

It wouldn’t be a Monster Hunter demo without a big challenge. Try battling Sunbreak’s flagship monster Malzeno in a super tough advanced quest! Remember, this hunt is a special challenge tuned just for the demo, and has a shorter time limit than what you might experience when the full game comes out on June 30. That said, it’s a great way to test your skills and square off against this powerful new monster.

A Sneak Peek at the Future…

Thought we were all done? Not quite. Free title updates for Sunbreak are on the way!

A tower illuminated by moonlight marks the backdrop for a returning locale: Forlorn Arena. Also appearing seemingly out of thin air is the azure scaled Lucent Nargacuga. We’ll have much more to share about the August update in the future, but for now we’ll keep things shrouded in a bit of mystery.

The August update is just the first free title update coming to Sunbreak. There’s more on the way in 2022 and beyond. Take a look at the update roadmap for a preview of what’s to come.

That wraps it up for the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak updates featured in the Capcom Showcase. We hope you enjoy the demo and you’re even more hyped for launch on June 30. As always, follow the official @MonsterHunter social channels for more updates to come in the future. Happy hunting!

That’s all we’ve got for now, but keep an eye out on the Capcom USA Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram for more news as it drops!

Guile Returns in Street Fighter 6 Along with His Sonic Swagger!

Jun 09, 2022 // Andy Wong

America’s hero is back! As revealed at Summer Game Fest 2022, Guile returns in Street Fighter 6 when it launches in 2023 – and brings his endless swagger with him. As a US Air Force pilot who fights for his country, Guile succeeded in dismantling Shadaloo and avenged his friend Charlie Nash. Although he enjoys living the family-man life, a new mission now awaits.

Guile’s move set in Street Fighter 6 combines his signature moves with fresh additions. He is one powerhouse of a character who retains his ability to keep opponents at a distance. Splatters of green and yellow paint cover the stage when Guile utilizes the Drive System, harkening to the colors of his classic look.

Guile’s Sonic Boom and Somersault Kick (Flash Kick) are set to make their triumphant return in Street Fighter 6. What would Guile be without them, right? Sonic Boom is Guile’s main projectile ability and travels across the stage while Somersault Kick is an instant upwards move that can protect from airborne attacks.

Guile’s Sonic Blade from Street Fighter V returns as a Special Move rather than a V-Skill and sees him placing a stationary aerial slash in front of him. Sonic Blade can then be turned into a two-hit projectile if combined with Sonic Boom.

Let’s go over all three of Guile’s Super Arts, which reflects his journey as one of the most well-known World Warriors!

Sonic Hurricane (1 Stock) – Introduced in Street Fighter Alpha 3, Guile fires a massive aerial slash directly ahead. If used with a Heavy Punch, the aerial slash fires diagonally upwards as a good anti-air option. An extremely versatile move that can be used in combos, to counter projectiles, or as a way to turn the tables when being pressured.

Solid Puncher (2 Stocks) – Introduced in Street Fighter V as Guile’s V-Trigger I, Solid Puncher is now a Super Art. Guile envelops both arms in aerial slashes and enables the use of Sonic Break, where a flurry of small Sonic Boom projectiles can be unleashed simply by pressing the punch buttons.

Crossfire Somersault (3 Stocks) – A brand new Super Art, Guile puffs his chest and fires a massive aerial slash that launches the opponent into the air before following up with a brutal Somersault Kick.

That’s it for now when it comes to our coverage of Guile – who remains a Chad! We’ll be back with more character reveals and more info on World Tour and Battle Hub in the months to come. Stay tuned! Street Fighter 6 is scheduled for landing in 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC! Visit the official website for more information. streetfighter.com/6/
