The Characters of Resident Evil Revelations, Vol. 1

Aug 09, 2017 // Kellen Haney

One of the things Resident Evil Revelations does best is its unique take on storytelling, presenting the game’s grand plot in the way you might expect from your favorite TV shows. Instead of controlling one main character throughout Revelations , you’ll find yourself in control of a cast of different characters at different locations and points in time, many working for different agencies, with all taking part in a shocking storyline full of unexpected twists and turns.

With Revelations serving as a bridge between the stories of Resident Evil 4 and 5 , we’ve got a quick recap to get you up to speed on who some of the characters you’ll be seeing here are!

Jill Valentine

Series veterans need no introduction to Jill Valentine, who, as of the events of Resident Evil Revelations, is a Special Operations Agent of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (or BSAA), a title that she’s held since co-founding the organization. Jill is best known for her time serving as a member of Raccoon City’s Special Tactics and Rescue Service, more commonly known as S.T.A.R.S. One of the few survivors of the “Mansion Incident” in the Arklay Mountains, Jill managed to escape the destruction of Raccoon City just two months later. Being the tenacious survivor she is, Jill makes it her personal mission to put an end to bioweapons and the company that put them on the map, Umbrella.

Raid Mode Edge – In Raid Mode, Jill has increased handgun and machine gun reload speed. She’s a great all-around character if you want to unload on your enemies while staying out of their reach.

Parker Luciani

Joining Jill to investigate the disappearance of Chris Redfield and his partner Jessica Sherawat at their last known location, Parker is well-versed in dispatching bioweapons. His history working in the Federal Bioterrorism Commission (FBC) comes in handy when aboard the Queen Zenobia in Revelations , but that past experience comes with some loose ends you’ll see explored throughout the game. Parker’s story features both his modern-day fight for survival aboard the vessel while also exploring his time in the FBC via flashbacks to Terragrigia, a floating city that was ultimately destroyed during an event known as the “Terragrigia Panic.” Jill’s current partner may be endearingly bumbling at times, but he’s loyal and fierce when it comes to fighting against bio-terrorism.

Raid Mode Edge – In Raid Mode, his special skills include faster handgun and shotgun reload, allowing him to deliver quick, successive shots. He’s a great character for those of you who like to get up close and personal.

Keith Lumley

An awkward BSAA agent with an aversion to field work, Keith seems content to stay at the office with his coffee while other agents take down scary B.O.W.s. Going by the call sign of “Grinder,” Keith is tasked with investigating the Valkoinen Mökki Airport alongside his partner, Quint Cetcham. It’s Keith and Quint’s mission that sets Jill and Parker on their quest to locate Chris and Jessica, but the further the two of them dig, the more they uncover about tensions between the BSAA and the FBC.

Raid Mode Edge – In Raid Mode, Keith has faster machine gun reload speed and boosted strength to both his knife and physical attacks to stunned enemies. Unleash your machine gun on a weak point to open up on your enemies, then look for an opportunity to unleash a brutal melee attack!

Clive O’Brian

The affable director of the BSAA, Clive oversees the operations of many of the members of the organization, and has taken a personal stake in the missions of Jill and Parker, as well as Chris and Jessica. While Clive is generally well-composed and soft-spoken, he seems to have quite a bit of history with the director of the FBC, Morgan Lansdale – particularly when it comes to how the Terragrigia Panic was handled. Fun trivia fact: Did you know a book called “The Unveiled Abyss” by Clive R. O’Brian can be found in the Baker Mansion from Resident Evil 7 biohazard?

Raid Mode Edge – While not playable in the main campaign, Clive can be used in Raid Mode when certain conditions are met. With a rapid reload handgun and increased grenade blast range, he’s great for playing keep-away and taking pot-shots at enemies before finishing them off with a grenade.

We’ll have more characters next week, including fan-favorite Chris Redfield and plenty of new faces. Resident Evil Revelations will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting August 29, 2017, and Late 2017 on Nintendo Switch.

Introducing Capcom USA’s Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 Spotify playlist

Aug 09, 2017 // Patrick Kulikowski

We hope you’ve been enjoying Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 since its launch PlayStation 4 , Steam , and Xbox One yesterday! To keep the Mega Man fun going, we’re celebrating one of the core things that makes the Blue Bomber so well loved: his rockin’ tunes!

Introducing our hot new mixtape Spotify playlist, “Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 – Capcom USA Picks” ! This 29-track playlist comes equipped with several tunes per game, carefully curated by a bunch of us video game music fanatics over here at Capcom USA.

Our choices reflect the tunes we’ve enjoyed and hummed since playing the original releases all those years ago. Heck, some of us were still kids when Mega Man 7 and Mega Man 8 firstrolled out!

We hope you appreciate the interesting evolution of Mega Man 7 – 10’s music. Whereas Mega Man 7 and 8 homed in on upgraded instrumentation, Mega Man 9 and 10 served up an homage to the 8-bit classic sound the series originally kicked off with. I always found it so fitting how Mega Man 10 brought things full circle — everyRobot Master stage features a unique theme crafted by a returning composer from the franchise’s history; a sort of musical Capcom alumni reunion, of sorts.

Nevertheless, what never changed throughout this era of the series was the penchant for catchy, hummable melodies that continue to inspire all of us daily!

Whether it’s the soulful, moody tones of Mega Man 7’s “Dr. Wily Stage 1”, the chill thumping of Mega Man 8’s “Stage Select”, the dramatic resolve of Mega Man 9’s “Flash in the Dark”, or the fast-paced 8-bit thrash metal of Mega Man 10’s “Solar Inferno”, there’s plenty of diverse Mega Man music for fans to relish in.

And if you prefer to have your playlists come with everything and the kitchen sink, we’ve set up a complete playlist of Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 music, as well.

Let’s say you’re like me and you enjoy amassing both a digital and physical library of music, then here’s your reminder that the Mega Man 7 Official Soundtrack(Digital MP3), Mega Man 8 Official Soundtrack(Digital MP3), Mega Man 9 Soundtrack(Physical CD), and Mega Man 10 Official Soundtrack(Digital MP3) are all available for purchase via the Capcom Store .

So what do you think of our playlist? Be sure to let us know what your favorite Mega Man 7 – 10 tunes are in the comments below!

TAKE THAT! Apollo Justice is coming to the Nintendo 3DS eShop this November!

Aug 09, 2017 // Kellen Haney

All rise for the big news – Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, the fourth game in the mainline Ace Attorney series, is coming to Nintendo 3DS this November via the Nintendo eShop for just $19.99! For both long-time fans and greenhorn attorneys alike, enjoy Apollo’s early court cases with updated visuals and a fresh take on the series’ trademark courtroom battles and investigations.

Keeping with the spirit of the original release, the game’s artwork has been updated to take advantage of more modern screens, giving Apollo and the colorful cast of characters a crisp, clean look and detailed animations. Seasoned veterans will also appreciate the option to quickly skip text – even if you haven’t read it already! You’ll also be able to choose between English and Japanese versions of the game from the main menu, which is more than a simple language switch option. As fans know, special care is always taken with the series’ localization, both in text and in the game’s art. See if you can find all the differences in the background art of this room from the Japanese version and English version, both included in this release:

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Apollo’s earlier cases, or those of you who picked up the series starting with Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice, you may be surprised to find out that Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney stars… Apollo Justice.

When we first meet Apollo, the fledgling attorney has just started his law career, though he’s had plenty of vocal training to make his objections and his self-reassuring mantra of “I’M FINE” as loud as possible for his first case. The only time he’s previously spent in a court of law has been to assist his mentor and employer, Kristoph Gavin, a highly-regarded and well-known defense attorney that earned the nickname “coolest defense in the West” due to his ability to stay calm and collect his thoughts under intense pressure. With Gavin’s supervision, Apollo is called up to lead the defense of his first major case, personally chosen as the defense attorney for… Phoenix Wright, disbarred defense attorney. Accused in the murder of Shadi Smith during a card game gone wrong, Apollo must find a way to clear the ex-attorney’s name while uncovering some shocking revelations.

That’s just the first of four full cases in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney. Sticking to what the series does best, you’ll meet and work with and against plenty of wacky and colorful characters during your investigations. Klavier Gavin, a rockstar both onstage and in the courtroom and brother to Kristoph, doubles as a well-known prosecutor who melts defense attorney’s cases when he’s not melting faces with his guitar live on stage. Trucy Wright, a talented magician and Phoenix’s adopted daughter, serves as both an assistant to Apollo during his investigations as well as a constant foil to the straight-laced Apollo with her incredible prowess for illusions and insistence on calling the young lawyer “Polly.” You’ll see a few returning faces from past and future games, too, such as Ema Skye, a police investigator with big dreams of joining the forensics team and a bigger appetite for her favorite junk food, Snackoos. And that’s before we get to the outlandish witnesses that you’ll cross-examine in court to find the truth!

It’s not an Ace Attorney game without courtroom antics, of course, and Apollo brought a few tricks of his own to the defense’s bench. Familiar gameplay such as pressing witnesses for more information, scrutinizing statements, and presenting evidence are all there, with an extra wrinkle in the form of Apollo’s mysterious bracelet. Apollo has a knack for detecting when someone’s lying – when his bracelet constricts, Apollo can focus on a witnesses’ testimony, looking for nervous habits or other signs that they’re not telling the truth. It gives him a powerful edge in court when it comes to cross-examination – find the right statement and a witnesses’ nervous tic, and hit them with a “GOTCHA!”

Outside of the courtroom, Ema Skye’s love of forensics makes her an unexpected ally to Apollo’s investigations. With the unique capabilities of the 3DS, you’ll be able to dust for fingerprints and rotate evidence to look at it from every angle in your search for clues and the truth.

The loud lawyer’s journey has only just begun in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, coming to the Nintendo 3DS family of handhelds this November for $19.99! Can’t wait until then? You can always grab the original Ace Attorney Trilogy to catch up on earlier events, or see Apollo in action in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies or Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice to hold you over until November.

Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is available now!

Aug 08, 2017 // Kellen Haney

In the year of 20XX, a super robot named Mega Man was created, fighting tirelessly for everlasting peace against the reprogrammed robots and wicked creations of the evil mastermind, Dr. Wily. Today, we’re celebrating four of the Blue Bomber’s most recent classic side-scrolling adventures with the release of Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, bringing together Mega Man 7, 8 , 9 , and 10 in one mega package, with plenty of bonus content both digitally and at retail across North America starting today for just $19.99!

There’s plenty to check out in this collection of classics, starting with Mega Man 7, which brought the super fighting robot into the 16-bit era. Featuring an expanded story and a new nemesis, Mega Man 7 also brought new concepts to the original series. An in-game shop allows you to purchase helpful items for your adventure, including E-Tanks and extra lives, while branching paths and secret areas lead to cameos and special items.

Mega Man 8 mixes things up, not only by bringing our hero into the 32-bit era, but also introducing new ways to traverse stages. Jump and slide your way through a treacherous snowboard track, then take to the skies using Rush Jet for a unique side-scrolling shooter stage. Mega Man 8 was also the first in the classic series to feature voice acting and fully animated cutscenes to tell the game’s story, with beautiful art and inspired voice work.

Taking things back to days spent way too close to the TV in the living room, Mega Man 9 sparked a retro revolution with a return to the series’ 8-bit roots. Echoing the story of the original Mega Man, Dr. Light’s robots have gone berserk, tearing up the city and landing Dr. Light in jail as a result. Taking things back to basics, jump and shoot your way through old-school platforming challenges and take down the out of control Robot Masters to clear Dr. Light’s name. Once you’ve finished the game once, you’ll be able to access Proto Man as an additional character, and play through additional stages and challenges!

Wrapping up this collection with Mega Man 10, Mega Man and Proto Man are joined by another rival – Bass, who was first introduced in Mega Man 7. Due to the “Roboezna” epidemic, robots around the world have fallen ill or become violent, and it’s up to one of our three heroes to put a stop to them for good. Strangely, Dr. Wily has been working on a cure for the mysterious disease, but can he really be trusted? You can find out for yourself when you play through the game! Just like with Mega Man 9, beating the game once will unlock an additional playable character, Bass, as well as new stages to tackle, including those belonging to the Mega Man Killers, originally released as DLC (which you can find in the “Time Attack” section of the Challenges menu). If you can take them out, you can claim their weapons as your own when you play as Mega Man in the main game! You’ve probably heard of “Buster Only” runs, but have you ever tried a “No Buster” run?

Looking for a quick way to unlock all the additional content for Mega Man 9 and 10 from the get-go? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with a helpful blast from the 8-bit past – an old-school cheat code!

There’s tons more features, too – an optional Extra Armor mode reduces damage taken by half, and convenient checkpoint saves allow you to pick up where you left off if your adventure is cut short due to a sudden spike pit. For those of you who know these games like the back of your hand, new stage remix and boss rush challenges are waiting for you in Challenge Mode. Complete with online leaderboards, compete to reach the top of the charts!

That’s not all, though. A full museum is also included, packed with an archive of production art, sketches, development materials, concept art, and more. There’s even a music player so you can jam to your favorite Mega Man tunes from each game in the collection.

Finally, to help celebrate the launch, we have one more piece of art from the legendary Jeffery “Chamba” Cruz featuring Mega Man 10:

You can grab it as a wallpaper for your phone or desktop over at the official Mega Man website later today!

Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and Steam for $19.99! Check out the official Mega Man site for info on where to grab a physical copy alongside some free wallpapers representing all four games made by legendary artist Jeffery “Chamba” Cruz of Udon Entertainment, or head over to the PlayStation Store , Xbox Games Store , or Steam to grab a digital copy and get playing.

Good luck, Mega Fans!

Kellen Haney : On the Mega Man side of things, we have a fresh look back on what made Mega Man 9 such a special game in the series, reflecting on the game’s retro revolution as well as gathering up memories from Capcom staff on their favorite Robot Masters. Give it a read – you might notice that one of them made a bigger splash than the others! Get it? Splash ? Because it’s Splash Woman. We all really like her. Spoilers.

Moving on, as with previous weeks, we also have some excellent art by Jeffery “Chamba” Cruz from Udon Entertainment, showcasing the perilous platforms, hale heroes, and myriad of menacing (Robot) Masters that Mega Man 9 has to offer. You can grab the full art at the official Mega Man site as a wallpaper for your phone or PC!

And as a friendly reminder, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will be out next Tuesday, August 8th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Don’t miss out!

Patrick Kulikowski: Baltimore, Maryland-based video game music cover band Steel Samurai recently busted out not one, but TWO rad takes on classic Capcom tunes. First up, is their rocking arrangement of Masakazu Sugimori’s “Steel Samurai” theme from Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. I love the keyboard accompaniments as the lead guitar busts into the familiar, explosively heroic melody. The band has certainly earned their namesake!

And just in time for the release of Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 on August 8, the band also crafted a synthrock medley of Yu Shimoda’s“Concrete Man” and Ippo Yamada’s “Tornado Man” from Mega Man 9. The medley is appropriately named “Concrete-Tornado…man” , and if I was a Mega Man 9 Robot Master, I’d be Magma Man, because this jam is heating me up in all the right ways. While most would assume that a Mega Man medley should feature the classic “Game Start” jingle right in the beginning, Steel Samurai have proven that it fits pretty darn well at the tail end, too. Give it a listen!

Yuri Araujo: Before we head out for the weekend, I just wanted to leave you all with a quick reminder that the Monster Hunter: World weapon design contest is still open! You have until August 16 to submit your entry, so get your creative juices flowing and send in your design. And remember, the winner gets their weapon featured in the game itself! How cool is that?!

WARNING! Make sure to read all the details and Terms & Conditions ( link here) so you can guarantee your entry counts.

STICKY NOTE: Did you make something cool? Send us a note or drop a comment below; we would love to feature your work here! Same goes for any awesome stuff you may see in the wild; we always welcome more fantastic fan work. =)

Till next week!

Looking back on Mega Man 9

Aug 04, 2017 // Kellen Haney

After two entries on completely new hardware, Mega Man was on the cusp of the retro revolution, jumping right in to an 8-bit style that called back to childhood days of passing the controller to your friend when you died and pure platforming that required memorization and reflexes. This week we’re looking back on the return to 8-bit basics in Mega Man 9 !

The retro revolution begins

Check out the recap video above for even more on what made Mega Man 9 such a challenging and rewarding game, then read on for fantastic art and Capcom staff’s picks for their favorite Robot Masters.

Amazing art from UDON Entertainment

We have another illustration from Jeffery “Chamba” Cruz, who nails the feel of Mega Man 9 with some incredible art:

Two heroes to choose from means double the trouble for Robot Masters! Highlighting the perilous platforms of Magma Man’s stage, Mega Man and Proto Man are up against a trio of rogue robots, including Hornet Man flying in from the left with a hornet entourage and Splash Woman in the distance, poised to strike with a laser trident. Proto Man has his shield at the ready to protect himself from projectiles, while Mega Man is busy with Magma Man right up front. Just like the perilous platforming of Mega Man 9, the entire scene just feels tense, doesn’t it?

Capcom’s Favorite Robot Masters

You can’t have a classic Mega Man game without Robot Masters! We’ve previously covered Mega Man 7 andMega Man 8, and this time I asked Capcom staff to share their personal favorite Robot Masters from – wait for it – Mega Man 9. If you look closely, you’ll notice there’s a clear favorite that made a splash with our team. Get it? Splash ? It’s Splash Woman. She’s the favorite. Spoilers.

Tell us why Splash Woman (or any other Robot Master) is your favorite in the comments, too! We’d love to see ‘em.

Kazuhiro Tsuchiya (Producer, Capcom Japan): Splash Woman. She is the first ever female Robot Master after all! She’s the one Robot Master I don’t want to defeat.

Tim Turi (Associate Brand Manager): I’m not personally the biggest fan of water levels, but Mega Man games get them right. Not only are the aquatic challenges of Mega Man 9’s water stage tough but fair (classic descending Bubble Man-style spike pits!), it is also ruled by the enigmatic Splash Woman. This deadly siren of the sea blasts Mega Man with tridents made out of lasers, which are apt to make Neptune himself jealous. She also sings an adorable melody that beckons robotic fish to come attack Mega Man. Splash Woman’s vertical boss fight, varied move set, and adorable design earns her a spot in my heart. Plus, the Laser Trident weapon Mega Man inherits from her wrecks shop.

Patrick Kulikowski (Customer Support Representative): Mega Man 9 has a whole slew of Robot Masters I greatly appreciate, like Tornado Man and Galaxy Man, but Splash Woman just oozes of uniqueness. Having a female Robot Master for the first time in a classic Mega Man title felt fresh to me.

As per the Mega Man: Robot Master Field Guide, Splash Woman, like the game’s seven other Robot Masters, was tricked by Dr. Wily and re-programmed to be evil. She really stands out from the others, not only due to the long, deadly Laser Trident she’s packing, but also due to her bottom half resembling a scaly blue mermaid.

And who just doesn’t love that soothing stage melody ? It’s almost as if Splash Woman is singing to Mega Man, beckoning him to come to her, like a siren or an evil mermaid would to her prey. A forbidden love, perhaps? Maybe I’m going too far with this. Just know that she canonically loves to sing karaoke.

While it seems like such a shame that Mega Man has to square off against her, there’s solace in knowing she gets rebuilt as a good robot again following Mega Man’s triumph at the end.

Kellen Haney (Social Media Specialist):  It’s a little hard for me to choose with Mega Man 9, but Hornet Man always stood out to me above the rest, with Splash Woman coming in at an incredibly close second. You can blame my vote for Hornet Man primarily on the incredible melody of his stage music, “Hornet Dance” – it’s one of the reasons I gravitated to his stage before the others early on, and why I still like to start with it to this day. The stage’s backdrop, enemy design, and music combine to create the feeling of a vibrant garden buzzing with life.

The weapon you get from the busy buzzy Robot Master, Hornet Chaser, has a horde of uses, too. Not only is it able to pick up enemy drops instantly or grab items that may otherwise be out of reach, but it homes in on enemy positions with amazing accuracy, a rarity for chase style weapons in Mega Man games. Plus, Hornet Man himself stays on theme. With his hive-like body, Hornet Man summons small hornet drones to protect him. While not too tough by themselves, the drones swarm towards Mega Man and act as a defensive wall, making Hornet Man difficult to hit. It’s a challenging fight with just the Mega Buster, but the weapon you get as a reward and sense of accomplishment is well worth it.

That’s a wrap for Mega Man 9, but the retro revolution didn’t stop there. We’ll conclude this series next week with memories of Mega Man 10! And don’t forget, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC this coming Tuesday, August 8th. Grab some great wallpapers and pre-order the game from your favorite retailer at the official website !

Resident Evil Revelations comes to PS4 and X1 August 29th, Revelations 1 and 2 comes to Switch Late 2017

Aug 01, 2017 // Kellen Haney

Update:  We’ve added the release date for Resident Evil Revelations 1 and 2 on Nintendo Switch!

Resident Evil Revelations is launching on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 29th, looking better than ever and complete with all originally released DLC for $19.99! That’s not all, though: both Resident Evil Revelations and its sequel, Resident Evil Revelations 2, will be setting sail for Nintendo Switch on November 28th, 2017! At retail across North America you will find these two games as a combo pack dubbed Resident Evil Revelations Collection, which includes one cartridge with Revelations as well as a digital download voucher for Revelations 2 for $39.99. Both games will be available as individual digital downloads at $19.99 each.

Digital purchase links:

PlayStation 4 via PlayStation Network
Xbox One via Microsoft Store

PS4 owners, you’re in for a creepy treat when you pre-order the game on the PlayStation Store in North America. Thanks to the masters at Truant Pixel, you can look at a new, exclusive pre-order theme that looks right back at you every time you open the home menu:

Set aboard a ship adrift in the Mediterranean Sea, the story of Resident Evil Revelations initially follows BSAA agent Jill Valentine, former S.T.A.R.S. agent and Raccoon City survivor, in her search for her fellow agents Chris Redfield and Jessica Sherawat. Joined by Parker Luciani, the duo soon finds out that they’re in far over their heads, becoming entangled in a grand story of betrayal and revenge. The horror has only just begun, as strange bio-weapons start to worm their way throughout the ship, turning Jill and Parker’s rescue mission into a fight for survival. You’ll have to use every weapon and tool at your disposal, including the Genesis Scanner, which grants helpful items by gathering combat data on bioweapons, to survive this nightmare.

Experience a story set between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 from the perspective of multiple playable characters, hunt for weapons and resources to help you survive, and uncover the truth behind the destruction of the floating city Terragrigia. No need to binge on the story, though, as helpful recaps at the beginning of each new chapter will ensure you never lose your place in the story after gripping cliffhangers.

There’s more to Revelations than the story mode, though – Raid Mode delivers countless hours of extra content, sending players through familiar locales from the game’s story with increasingly challenging enemies. Rank up and unlock new weapons and parts as you complete stages, earning powerful gear and combining weapons and parts that fit your play style. Go for the high score or the fastest times either solo or with a friend in online co-op, and unlock new weapon parts, abilities, and costumes for your favorite character to customize your experience even further. For veteran Raid Mode players, a newly remixed stage called The Ghost Ship: Chaos has been added to push you and your characters to the limit against powerful enemies and intense encounters. If you have what it takes to survive, however, you may win even more powerful weapons and rewards!

Starting November 28th, 2017, you’ll be able to bring the horror of both the original Resident Evil Revelations and Revelations 2 with you on Nintendo Switch, too! I’ve already re-introduced you to the first game, but if you’re new to both games in this series, Revelations 2 focuses on a pair of intertwined stories. Claire Redfield returns as a member of TerraSave, an anti-bioweapon organization that gets caught up in an insidious plot. Joined by Moira Burton, the two try to escape from a desolate prison island. Meanwhile, Moira’s fan-favorite father and former member of S.T.A.R.S., Barry Burton, is looking for his daughter’s last known whereabouts on the same island, soon crossing paths with a child who claims to live on the island alone. Barry will need all the help he can get, as strange creatures are prowling the halls and caverns of the island.

On top of previous DLC being included in both games, Raid Mode makes a return in Revelations 2, offering up a wide selection of characters, new abilities and skills, and plenty of maps to put your aim and reflexes to the test. Choose your favorite character, customize your gun how you like it, and fight you way through either solo or via online co-op!

Resident Evil Revelations arrives on both digitally and at retail for PS4 and Xbox One on August 29 for $19.99. Resident Evil Revelations Collection will be coming to Nintendo Switch beginning November 28th, 2017 in North America, which includes one cartridge with Resident Evil Revelations as well as a download voucher for Resident Evil Revelations 2 for $39.99. Each game will also be available as a digital download for $19.99 as well. For all the latest info, follow Resident Evil on Twitter or Facebook !

A big part of Monster Hunter is its awesome weapons… I mean, have you seen the size of those swords?! To get you started on your daydreaming hunting adventures, we just released a series of short overview videos of each of the 14 weapon types in Monster Hunter: World. Check out the full YouTube playlist below, followed by another playlist grouping the weapon types in 3 different categories – light, heavy and technical:

——————————

Following along with the weapon videos in the Monster Hunter section above, I was really happy to see a number of my favorite YouTubers jump right in and start breaking down all the animations and even speculate about some of the parts we… kinda left up for interpretation. 😉

Now that we’re all fully hyped up for the weapons in Monster Hunter: World, we have a chance for you to get involved and contribute your design to be put right into the upcoming game in the series we love: the Weapon Design Contest. You can find more details, along with Terms & Conditions and submission methods here , but to get you more inspired, check out the winners from our previous weapon design contest, for MH4U:

Patrick Kulikowski: Ace Attorney characters are no strangers to the fighting game realm, as they’ve been featured in some of our biggest fighting games. Nevertheless, before artist Yves Menshikova’s amazingly stylized versions of Apollo Justice and Maya Fey came along, I can’t say I ever imagined Ace Attorney characters beefed up in a Street Fighter sort of way!

I can already imagine Apollo’s Ultra Combo: courtroom rubble rises from the ground and gets heaped on by his opponent. Meanwhile Maya would pulverize her opponent with Kurain-infused spirit energy (or her muscular legs, your call). Ace Fighter? Street Attorney? Burger vs. Ramen 2: New Age of Attorneys? What name would you go with for this fantastic fan art?

While we’re on the topic of fan art, I also wanted to call to mind this lovingly punny art of Roll from Mega Man by rgbhex . Sushi + Roll = Sushi Roll*. How adorable! *Warning: Eating Sushi Roll is not recommended. The Food and Drug Administration does not recommend the consumption of robots, even when rolled up in delicious sushi.

Yuri Araujo: And to cap off the week, we’ve put together a gallery of all the amazing Capcom cosplay we spotted at San Diego Comic Con 2017. Check out their incredible craftsmanship and dedication here .

STICKY NOTE: Did you make something cool? Send us a note or drop a comment below; we would love to feature your work here! Same goes for any awesome stuff you may see in the wild; we always welcome more fantastic fan work. =)

Looking back on Mega Man 8

Jul 28, 2017 // Kellen Haney

With a new generation of consoles, it was time for Mega Man to leap into a new era! Upgrading the Blue Bomber’s adventures to 32-bit, Mega Man 8 improved the series’ visuals with detailed sprites and gorgeous backgrounds, while taking the opportunity to give Mega Man and company fluid animations that helped bring Mega Man’s world to life. Read on to check out our recap video of what else made this entry in Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 stand out, as well as some thoughts on the game’s robot masters from Capcom staff!

Mega Man slides into the 32-bit era

With great sprite work, a memorable storyline, and unforgettable voice acting, Mega Man 8 stands the test of time as a true classic. Check out our recap video above for more!

Amazing art from UDON Entertainment

The legendary Jeffery “Chamba” Cruz from Udon Entertainment has created an illustration featuring a selection of Robot Masters from the landmark game, as well:

With Mega Man riding Rush into the fray with Duo ready to back him up, Mega Man has his work cut out for him against the sky-high Tengu Man, elusive Astro Man, explosive Grenade Man, and tricky Clown Man. You can grab this excellent art from the official Mega Man page for free to use as a phone or PC wallpaper, as well!

Capcom’s Favorite Robot Masters

Just like last week with Mega Man 7 , I asked Capcom staff to share their personal favorite Robot Masters from Mega Man 8. Let us know your favorites in the comments; we’d love to hear your picks, too!

Kazuhiro Tsuchiya (Producer, Capcom Japan): Sword Man. I thought the unique design with how his upper-half and lower-half were separated made him particularly cool.

Kellen Haney (Social Media Specialist):  The voices for Mega Man 8 are well-known for being a bit goofy, but Sword Man’s voice always stood out to me for having a regal tone to it. While other Robot Masters might taunt or insult you, such as Tengu Man saying “It’s just a kid,” Sword Man challenges you to a duel and compliments you with an “Impressive!” if you avoid taking damage from his Fire Slash. Despite being a Robot Master made by an evil mastermind determined to take over the world, he makes me think of a noble knight that you’d see in folklore.

Sword Man has clearly defined attack patterns that feel like they’re a test of skill over random chance, too. As a result, I always take my time to use the Mega Buster against him – after all, it only seems fair to challenge the regal knight to a duel instead of exploiting his weakness. If you find yourself in a bind, though, Water Balloon will stamp out his health bar in no time.

Tim Turi (Associate Brand Manager): I’m a sucker for unique Robot Masters that sometimes don’t gel with the rest of the lineup. I like to pinpoint who I think might be the biggest chump of the bunch and therefore easiest to defeat. Usually, goofy Robot Master aesthetics betray a tough boss fight (Wood Man, Top Man, and Sheep Man look silly but will mess you up). Clown Man wins me over with just how absurd he is.

He’s an electrified robot clown who specializes in aerobatics and turning into a deadly sparking ball? Okay! His colorful, cheery level stands apart from other Robot Master themes. Plus, how odd is it that he says he’ll see Mega Man “in his dreams” after being defeated? That’s hard to do when you explode into pieces. In short: I like Clown Man because he’s a big, colorful weirdo.

Patrick Kulikowski (Customer Support Representative): “I’M TENGU MAN!” Although he’s an incredibly arrogant robot modeled after a mythical Japanese yokai, Tengu Man always first comes to mind for me when thinking about this game’s Robot Master lineup. I think the guy just oozes style. His triple-bladed Tengu Blade and long nose immediately stick out to me, and fighting him was no breeze. His voice is fun to emulate, too. “Kamaitachi!” “Torrrnado Hold!” “HERE YOU gooOOO!”

Plus, Tengu Man’s stage theme is such a joy to listen to with its sitar-esque synths and chill bass groove. Whether I was being propelled by a fierce wind up in the clouds, riding on Rush in the shoot-em-up on-rails segment, or dodging spike traps while encased in a bubble, Tengu Man’s chipper, upbeat theme always put me in a good mood. Never mind his rude remarks to Mega Man. “It’s just a kid? Don’t make me laugh.”

***

That’s all for Mega Man 8, but next week we’re bringing things back to the 8-bit days with the retro revolution sparked by Mega Man 9! And don’t forget, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 8th, 2017! Grab some great wallpaper and pre-order the game from your favorite retailer at the official website !

Track SFV stats, frame data, rivals and more on the Capcom Fighters Network portal

Jul 28, 2017 // Yuri Araujo

On any given day, like your average Tuesday , I wouldn’t really recommend you enlist to become a Shadaloo soldier, but today… I think there might be some solid benefits as part of this deal. Hear me out:

First up, enrolling is quite easy; just head over to the Capcom Fighters Network Portal and sign in with your Street Fighter V Fighter ID and PlayStation or Steam accounts.

Then, as a member of the Combat Research Institute (C.R.I.) you’ll get your very own profile page, along with a player card, called PsychoPass, which you can show off to your friends and rivals. Speaking of which, you can also choose to follow other recruits and either “Respect” or “Rival” them, so you can keep tabs on their progress as you prepare to fight them.

You can also keep track of your place in the global leaderboards with the LP Ranking tracking. And if you want to climb that ladder, you can take advantage of the full frame data and character move sets! Thank you, M. Bison for providing us with all of this precious data!

That all being said, joining Shadaloo might not be that bad after all. However, I’m still a little suspicious of this guy:

For more, check out the charming and informative recruitment page over at the Capcom Fighters Network Portal to get all the fine details… and join us!

Design a weapon for Monster Hunter: World

Jul 27, 2017 // Yuri Araujo

Hunters, sharpen your pencils and load up on ink. We have an urgent quest for you today: design a weapon for Monster Hunter: World!

One of the best parts of Monster Hunter is getting to craft epic weapons and armor to then bring them out to the field and show the monsters who’s boss… and show your friends how fashionable and stylish you are.

Equipment designs vary from simple bone and metal based gear all the way to more empowering armaments built from the remains of your felled targets. But they all have one thing in common: they always look amazing (biased personal opinion)!

various concept art pieces from previous Monster Hunter titles, to serve as inspiration for you.

And now we’re offering you the chance to be part of the special process of creating something unique for the upcoming Monster Hunter: World with a weapon design contest. Here are the quest details (AKA how to participate):

We’re looking for one original design for one of the 14 existing weapon types in Monster Hunter: World, along with a name and a short description for your entry. All you have to do is put all that together and send it to us via email. The winning design will be made into a weapon in the game itself!

I know this is no small task, so we’ll give you until 9:00pm PT of August 16, 2017 to submit your entry. Also make sure to read all the Terms & Conditions, which include additional submission details:

North America, Central America, and South America residents, click here ;

Europe, Middle East, Africa and Oceania residents, click here;

Asia residents,  click here ;

As a longtime fan of Monster Hunter artwork, and a casual artist myself, I simply cannot wait to see all the amazing designs you’ll send through. =)
