The Characters of Resident Evil Revelations, Vol. 1

Aug 09, 2017 // Kellen Haney

One of the things Resident Evil Revelations does best is its unique take on storytelling, presenting the game’s grand plot in the way you might expect from your favorite TV shows. Instead of controlling one main character throughout Revelations , you’ll find yourself in control of a cast of different characters at different locations and points in time, many working for different agencies, with all taking part in a shocking storyline full of unexpected twists and turns.

With Revelations serving as a bridge between the stories of Resident Evil 4 and 5 , we’ve got a quick recap to get you up to speed on who some of the characters you’ll be seeing here are!

Jill Valentine

Series veterans need no introduction to Jill Valentine, who, as of the events of Resident Evil Revelations, is a Special Operations Agent of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (or BSAA), a title that she’s held since co-founding the organization. Jill is best known for her time serving as a member of Raccoon City’s Special Tactics and Rescue Service, more commonly known as S.T.A.R.S. One of the few survivors of the “Mansion Incident” in the Arklay Mountains, Jill managed to escape the destruction of Raccoon City just two months later. Being the tenacious survivor she is, Jill makes it her personal mission to put an end to bioweapons and the company that put them on the map, Umbrella.

Raid Mode Edge – In Raid Mode, Jill has increased handgun and machine gun reload speed. She’s a great all-around character if you want to unload on your enemies while staying out of their reach.

Parker Luciani

Joining Jill to investigate the disappearance of Chris Redfield and his partner Jessica Sherawat at their last known location, Parker is well-versed in dispatching bioweapons. His history working in the Federal Bioterrorism Commission (FBC) comes in handy when aboard the Queen Zenobia in Revelations , but that past experience comes with some loose ends you’ll see explored throughout the game. Parker’s story features both his modern-day fight for survival aboard the vessel while also exploring his time in the FBC via flashbacks to Terragrigia, a floating city that was ultimately destroyed during an event known as the “Terragrigia Panic.” Jill’s current partner may be endearingly bumbling at times, but he’s loyal and fierce when it comes to fighting against bio-terrorism.

Raid Mode Edge – In Raid Mode, his special skills include faster handgun and shotgun reload, allowing him to deliver quick, successive shots. He’s a great character for those of you who like to get up close and personal.

Keith Lumley

An awkward BSAA agent with an aversion to field work, Keith seems content to stay at the office with his coffee while other agents take down scary B.O.W.s. Going by the call sign of “Grinder,” Keith is tasked with investigating the Valkoinen Mökki Airport alongside his partner, Quint Cetcham. It’s Keith and Quint’s mission that sets Jill and Parker on their quest to locate Chris and Jessica, but the further the two of them dig, the more they uncover about tensions between the BSAA and the FBC.

Raid Mode Edge – In Raid Mode, Keith has faster machine gun reload speed and boosted strength to both his knife and physical attacks to stunned enemies. Unleash your machine gun on a weak point to open up on your enemies, then look for an opportunity to unleash a brutal melee attack!

Clive O’Brian

The affable director of the BSAA, Clive oversees the operations of many of the members of the organization, and has taken a personal stake in the missions of Jill and Parker, as well as Chris and Jessica. While Clive is generally well-composed and soft-spoken, he seems to have quite a bit of history with the director of the FBC, Morgan Lansdale – particularly when it comes to how the Terragrigia Panic was handled. Fun trivia fact: Did you know a book called “The Unveiled Abyss” by Clive R. O’Brian can be found in the Baker Mansion from Resident Evil 7 biohazard?

Raid Mode Edge – While not playable in the main campaign, Clive can be used in Raid Mode when certain conditions are met. With a rapid reload handgun and increased grenade blast range, he’s great for playing keep-away and taking pot-shots at enemies before finishing them off with a grenade.

We’ll have more characters next week, including fan-favorite Chris Redfield and plenty of new faces. Resident Evil Revelations will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One starting August 29, 2017, and Late 2017 on Nintendo Switch.
