Kellen Haney: “The owner said I could put up art, but not nail it to the wall.”

While others may hear that and resign themselves to houseplants and a few posters that you hang up with that weird tacky stuff that never quite comes off cleanly, Reddit user bornonthetide saw opportunity, grabbing some sticky notes and turning an otherwise bland wall…

… into a bona-fide piece of art. Curious color scheme though – maybe Mega Man took down the rogue robot master who prefers to sit at a desk and put together presentations, Office Man.  I wonder what kind of weapon he gets equipped with?

Also, in case you missed it, I’ve put together a short series of videos that cover all four of Mega Man’s latest classic adventures included in Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, all wrapped up in a convenient playlist:

The fourth and final video went out last week, so if you’re looking to catch up on what made Mega Man 7-10 great, take some time to check them out!

Ibuki, Laura, and Rashid Sports Costumes coming to Street Fighter V on July 25th

Jul 21, 2017 // Harrison Young

Time to turn up the heat with these all-new sports costumes for Street Fighter V !

They may be more accustomed to kicking heads than scoring goals, but that doesn’t mean the World Warriors aren’t athletic enough to show off their abilities in other ways. Indeed, three of the most mobile characters from Street Fighter V go a bit Rival Schools as they swap their fighters fatigues for something a little sportier.

First out of the gate is Ibuki, in her Track and Field uniform complete with sports watch and nimble trainers.

Next up, we have Laura flying the Brazilian colours in her volleyball uniform. She needs to keep her knees in top shape for cancelling her standing medium kick into V-Trigger, hence the knee pads.

Last but not least, Rashid joins the football field with his studded football boots and snappy shorts. We’ll be impressed if he manages to keep the ball in play during a Spinning Mixer.

You can pick up these new sports costumes for Street Fighter V on PlayStation 4 and Steam for $3.99/ €3.99 starting July 25 th.

Looking back on Mega Man 7

Jul 21, 2017 // Kellen Haney

Jump, shoot, and slide. These were the tools that Mega Man had in his early 8-bit adventures, taking down 46 Robot Masters across six games – and that’s not even counting the handheld titles! After so many adventures, the Blue Bomber was still going strong, but new technology meant that it was time to leap into a more powerful era of consoles with an evolution of the classic Mega Man franchise!

Mega Man’s jump into the 16-bit era

Need to know what made Mega Man 7 such an important entry in the series? Look no further than our recap video!

Amazing art from UDON Entertainment

As part of the celebration of Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 and this milestone in the franchise’s history, we have some excellent art created by Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz from UDON Entertainment!

Framing the game’s intense action perfectly, this wonderful homage to Mega Man 7 features Mega Man throwing himself straight into battle against Slash Man, Cloud Man, and Shade Man, with Bass ready and poised to strike in the background. You can grab it in wallpaper format for your phone or PC over at the official Mega Man website !

Capcom’s Favorite Robot Masters

To celebrate the variety of mechanized bosses in Mega Man 7, I asked Capcom staff to share their personal favorite Robot Masters. Be sure to share your favorites in the comments; we want to hear your picks!

Tim Turi (Associate Brand Manager): Halloween is my favorite holiday, I love Ghosts ‘n Goblins, and Draculais my favorite novel. Obviously, my favorite Robot Master in Mega Man 7 is a robot vampire. Shade Man’s stage kicks off with classic horror drama – Mega Man gazing up at an ominous full moon as dark clouds part over the robot graveyard.

Shade Man himself oozes classic cartoon vampire, with Bela Lugosi’s popped collar, pronounced fangs, and a gloomy aura of aristocracy. After a cordial bow, Shade Man makes use of his Noise Crush weapon, bouncing sonar blasts off walls and back towards him to power up a deadly aural attack. In classic folk horror style, the robo-vampire can also petrify Mega Man with strange beams from his eyes. But finally, my favorite (and most feared) Shade Man attack is when he uses his giant bat wings to fly into the shadows at the top of the boss room. Should Mega Man flub one slide dodge, Shade Man swoops from above, seizes him in his metallic talons, and sucks the Blue Bomber’s energy from him – restoring his own health bar. Shade Man is classic vampire with a decidedly Mega Man flair, and I adore him for it.

Kazuhiro Tsuchiya (Producer, Capcom Japan): I like the irony that despite it being a Robot Master that controls explosives, his character trait is that he’s afraid of explosives.

Patrick Kulikowski (Customer Support Representative): I’d have to go with Burst Man simply for his amazing, fast-paced music. Plus, his Danger Wrap, which encased Mega Man in a bubble that sent him straight up into a ceiling of deadly spikes, always kept me on edge throughout his entire fight. Shade Man is a close second, though. I love his purple getup, spooky castle and moody stage music.

Kellen Haney (Social Media Specialist):  My personal favorite of the bunch has gotta be Junk Man. As his name suggests, he’s made out of scrap metal and parts of other robots, all held together with electromagnets. You’d think he’d be a bit stiff and slow considering his size, but he’s constantly on the move, making him a tough target to hit! Junk Man is tough as nails too. It makes sense, as there’s probably more than a few nails that make up his body.

I always thought Junk Man was a pretty intense Robot Master. Just look at the guy! He probably spent weeks perfecting that sneer in the mirror. Combine it with the patchwork body and the mismatched eyes, and you know you’re in for a world of hurt if he gets his hand on you. Junk Man always feels worthy of a Mega Buster duel: he has a tough-but-fair attack pattern, which relies mostly on reflexes and careful movements. Adding to this threat is how Junk Man uses his magnetized arm to seemingly pull pieces out of the environment to slide a cube of electromagnetic pain your way, which adds a nice touch to the overall theme of his scrap-filled boss room.

If the going gets too tough, you can always bring Thunder Bolt with you – it’ll make him literally go to pieces each time it connects! Taking him down also provides you with Junk Shield, a great weapon to have with you when you’re navigating tricky platforms with enemy swarms all over.

That’s a wrap on our look back at Mega Man 7, but next week we’ll be making another technological jump (jump, slide slide) with our reflections on Mega Man 8! And don’t forget, Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on August 8th, 2017! Grab some great wallpaper and pre-order the game from your favorite retailer at the official website !

New Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Characters and Gameplay Trailer Fresh from SDCC

Jul 21, 2017 // Harrison Young

The master web slinger has arrived along with new gameplay footage of Haggar, Frank West, Nemesis and Gamora! The Mind Stone also makes its first appearance. Hit the jump to see what these freshly-announced characters and the Mind Stone bring to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite on the new A.I.M.Brella stage.

Nemesis is a B.O.W., developed by Umbrella Corporation and programmed to eliminate S.T.A.R.S., the elite Raccoon City police unit that discovered Umbrella’s secret development of bioweapons. Captured and reprogrammed to serve M.O.D.O.K. after A.I.M. and Umbrella Corporation merged into A.I.M.Brella.With his rocket launcher, armored attacks and command grabs, he can be devastating up close and from afar.

Haggar is a former professional wrestler who became mayor of Metro City. He is famous for calling himself the “Fighting Mayor” as he teams up with friends to battle against Mad Gear gang, a crime syndicate that plagues Metro City. New to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Haggar is able to pull barrels out of his back pocket, helping him chase down even the most elusive opponents.

Frank West is a photojournalist famous for covering a zombie outbreak at a shopping mall and rescuing its survivors. This experience taught him to get creative and utilize objects in his surroundings as deadly weapons. With Frank West being a professional photographer, it only makes sense for him to take a steady shot while in action with his new tripod camera. He can also wear the patented Servbot helmet, letting him fly through projectiles and extend his combos.

The bite from a radioactive spider granted Peter Parker arachnid-like powers. After losing his beloved Uncle Ben to a thief he chose not to stop, Peter learned that with great power there must also come great responsibility, and vowed to use his incredible abilities to protect the city as the Amazing Spider-Man! Between his huge arsenal of web-based attacks and new Level 3 hyper combo, he has no problem keeping his opponents off guard.

The last of her race, Gamora was taken in by Thanos and raised as a ruthless assassin. However, she turned on her adoptive father and now uses her skills to help those who cannot help themselves. Known as the “Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe,” Gamora travels with the Guardians of the Galaxy, wielding a fearsome and deadly arsenal. Most notably, her sword Godslayer, which is capable of cutting through the most durable substances in the universe.

The Mind Stone is the fifth announced Infinity Stone for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite. This stone brings a command grab type of attack to its wielder in the air and on the ground. Upon landing a successful Infinity Surge attack, the opponent will fall to the ground and wake up in a daze, giving the wielder plenty of time to set up their next attack. Activating the Infinity Storm gives players a boost in hyper gauge regeneration. Hyper gauge will naturally increase without performing any additional actions, letting players build up their powerful super attacks much faster.

Also, in case you missed our showing at Evolution 2017, we announced Jedah along with a first ever look at his and Gamora’s gameplay.

Vadrum rocks out with a Mega Man drum medley

Jul 19, 2017 // Patrick Kulikowski

Any day where a musical Mega Man fan remix or medley busts out onto the web is hailed as a great day to me, and this latest Mega Man drum medley from Vadrum is an exceptionally rockin’ one. Check it out after the break… man!

Andrea “Vadrum” Vadrucci is a professional drummer hailing from Italy who has done several game music drum medleys in the past.

This time, he’s tackled Manami “Chanchacorin” Matsumae’s entire 1987 8-bit Mega Man soundtrack , including victory and game over jingles, in a whopping 9+ minute drum medley, and boy are there a lot of neat things to unpack from this performance!

Vadrum’s style of drumming is heavily rooted in progressive rock and metal. Throughout the video he makes expert use of polyrhythms (aka playing a different rhythm to the music while keeping it in time), has some neat uses of cymbal hits on the offbeats, and remixes the 8-bit originals we know and love in a lot of cool ways.

Take his cool segue between “Bomb Man Stage” and “Wily Stage 2” for instance, or the way he matches his tom fills to the notes of “Guts Man Stage.” He even adds blast beats to the “Boss” theme. Anybody wanna mosh? Hearing “Elec Man Stage” and “Ending ( MM1 )” in there gave me tons of warm fuzzies, too!

All the kudos to Vadrum, what an inspiration ! Oh, and you should give his Super Mario Bros. 1 – 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog videos a look, too!

The Super Human Hot-Rodder Abigail makes his way to Street Fighter V on July 25th!

Jul 17, 2017 // Harrison Young

We are happy to announce Abigail, the biggest man in Metro City, as the fourth new character to join Season 2 of Street Fighter V .

Hit the jump to see what he’s been up to since his Final Fight days.

Making his way from Final Fight to Street Fighter V, Abigail was one of the top ranking members of the Mad Gear Gang. His territory is the Bay Area of Metro City, a location he terrorizes with his gargantuan size, and at eight feet tall, he makes the Red Cyclone look like a spinning top. The tires around Abigail’s monstrous biceps make is clear what he’s been up to when he isn’t cracking skulls. This mountain of a man is a complete (mad) gear head that loves to make car noises almost as much as he loves driving them.

One thing that’s troubling Abigail is the whereabouts of his prized monster truck. Be sure to check out his character story as he brawls his way through the mean streets of Metro City in search of it.

V-Skill: Hungabee

Abigail thrusts his sizeable belly forwards (either high or low) countering the opponent’s attack and setting himself up for a combo opportunity.

  V-Trigger: Max Power

After popping his two-bar V-Trigger, Abigail can charge up his four different heavy punches for one hit of armour and extended juggles. A full charge will break the opponent’s guard.

Critical Art: Abigail Special

Abigail slams his opponent with a downward open-palm strike that puts them into a daze. He then hoists them into the air, pummels them like a makeshift speedbag before launching a savage hook that shatters the screen.

As the largest character in the game, you’d expect Abigail to be all about the command grabs. He has two, as it happens, but what makes him stand out is his Nitro Charge run. This special move has one hit of armour (two for EX!) and can be cancelled into four follow-ups – a stiff punch, command grab, cumbersome overhead or V-Skill. Suffice to say, Abigail isn’t a one-trick-pony, he’s a horse-power-house.

Also arriving alongside Abigail are his Story and Premium Battle costumes, as well as his own personal stage, the Metro City Bay Area. Fight on this stage long enough and you might see the iconic sunrise that fans will remember from back in Abigail’s Final Fight days.

Don’t forget, the Season 2 Character Pass is available for $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99 and will grant pass holders with Akuma, Kolin, Ed and Abigail in addition to two brand new fighters to be announced later this year. The pass comes with Premium Battle Costumes with colors 3-10 unlocked and default costume colors 3-10 for each character. Additionally, Season 2 Character Pass holders will receive an exclusive PS4 theme!

In the next few days, we’ll share more information about Abigail. So keep an eye out on our Facebook and Twitter pages for Street Fighter V .

Ring of Pride and Champions Choice Costume coming to Street Fighter V on July 25th

Jul 14, 2017 // Harrison Young

Earlier this year, we introduced the 2017 Capcom Pro Tour DLC that featured the Capcom Cup Collection Costumes for Ryu and Ken, along with some exclusive Fight Money opportunities and colors. Now, it’s time to reveal the Champions Choice Costume as well as the 2017 Capcom Pro Tour Stage!

First up, we have an exclusive look at the all-new 2017 Capcom Pro Tour Stage! Continuing the tradition of CPT themed stages, the Kanzuki Family Stadium showcases the high-level competition with a sumo stadium befitting of the Kanzuki name.

As most of you know, Du “NuckleDu” Dang won the Capcom Cup in 2016. Along with him auto-qualifying for Capcom Cup 2017, he also received the incredibly rare opportunity to help create a costume for a character of his choice. His character of choice is the master of flash-kicking, Guile!

Guile is ready for any combat operations with this tactical officer-inspired costume. The all-new costume will be available on July 25 th for PlayStation 4 and Steam for just $5.99 / € 5.99 or included in the Capcom Pro Tour 2017 Premier Pass.

Included in the Premier Pass for $24.99 are the previously released Capcom Cup Collection Costumes for Ryu and Ken, the newly announced Champions Choice Costume, the Kanzuki Family Stadium stage, exclusive CPT- themed colors for all of the characters, two exclusive titles and monthly in-game targets that reward Fight Money! Just as it was last year, the 2017 Premier Pass will be taken off the marketplace around the end of November, so make sure you pick up your favorite content while it is available!

Just like last year, a portion of the CPT 2017 DLC will go to the prize pool for Capcom Cup 2017, regardless if it’s purchased as a bundle or individually. This campaign was a great success last year thanks to your support, and we can’t thank you enough for helping make the Pro Tour and CPT Prize Pool better with each contribution.

Nostalgic Costumes and Suzaku Castle coming to Street Fighter V on July 25th

Jul 14, 2017 // Harrison Young

Turn the clock back with these nostalgic costumes and classic stage!

With 30 years of rich history to its name, the Street Fighter series conjures up many fond memories across a wide range of topics. Be it the iconic special moves or the unmistakeable theme tunes, Street Fighter is pop culture personified. To this end, we’re adding another classic stage and three more nostalgic costumes to Street Fighter V. Hit the jump to check them out!

Forget Guile’s jet, Ryu’s temple roof stage is where the truest of warriors fought for arcade supremacy back in 1991. Relive those classic moments (or forge new ones!) as this iconic Suzaku Castle stage makes the leap forward into Street Fighter V .

Seeing as the Street Fighter III series is set after Street Fighter V, it only makes sense that Alex would have longer hair in the future. He’s also found the time to buy new green trousers that are less ripped than his old pair.

Ibuki’s nostalgic costume is also from the Street Fighter III series – aka the future. It’s more rugged than her regular outfit, but unfortunately, it doesn’t come with infinite shurikens. It was deemed that this historical inaccuracy be for the greater good.

Unlike Alex and Ibuki, Juri’s nostalgic costume is from the Street Fighter IV series – aka the past. This is how we first met the sadistic taekwondo expert back in 2010. We probably wouldn’t recommend that she wears this outfit while riding her motorbike.

You can pick up these new costumes on PlayStation 4 and Steam for $3.99/ €3.99 starting on July 25 th.

Everything Capcom at Evolution 2017

Jul 14, 2017 // Harrison Young

Capcom will be hitting the floor once again this year for the mid-summer throwdown of fighting games. Evolution (Evo) is a major highlight of the Capcom Pro Tour, with Street Fighter V returning for its second year after a huge 5,000+ turnout last year. Also, special thanks to everyone for getting Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 added to the tournament via community support! Both of these games will be featured during finals day on Sunday, so be sure to tune in for all of the action. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our panel at Evo, but we wanted to let all Evo attendees know that we still have several exciting announcements planned for this weekend. Additionally, we’ll provide plenty of hands-on and video capture opportunities with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite at our booth, so be sure to stop by.

Hit the jump to check out booth and stream times and we’ll see you at Evo this weekend!

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Booth

We will be on the show floor Friday and Saturday from 10am PDT to 7pm PDT with 12 kiosks dedicated to the new title. Four stations will also offer direct feed of the game, so if you are a content creator looking to record some gameplay, don’t forget to bring your equipment. Direct feed stations will be on a first come first served basis.
