Hey, Capcom Unity! I’m Andy.

Sep 12, 2017 // Andy Wong

HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER!

I’m Andy, your newest Sr. Social Media Specialist as part of the community team here at Capcom! I’ll be working primarily on the fighting brands here, including Street Fighter V and other marvelous titles . I’m a huge fighting game and esports fan, which means I’m probably lurking in the same tournament streams as you are – I could have even been sitting next to you at Capcom Cup! I’m excited to be here and can’t wait to be a part of all the fighting game activities.

(Here’s a picture of Ono-san signing my badge at PSX before I started working here.)

The first video game I ever played was Street Fighter II on the Super Nintendo where I “mained” Chun-Li by spamming her kick buttons and getting away with it – forgive me, I was around five or six years old. Ever since then, I’ve picked up many a fighting game and learned to only button mash when I want to confuse the other player. I currently main Nash in Street Fighter V and prefer zoning in fighting games.

I mostly play Capcom’s fighting games, but have also delved into Mega Man, Onimusha, Dragon’s Dogma, and um… watching Resident Evil. I have Resident Evil 7 and PlayStation VR, but barely made it through just watching someone play two hours of it. Someday, I’ll get the courage to play it, but today is not that day.

Video games aside, my other obsession is music. I try to go to at least one concert a month even if I have no initial interest in the headliner. I grew up playing classical piano and taught myself guitar later in life. Yes, I love playing video game music Cool .

Nice to meet everyone. See you on stream and hope to talk to you soon!

Last week, our larger-than-life Rathalos flew out to Seattle for PAX West 2017, and along with it, went 16 playable stations of Monster Hunter: World, so we could host our first major hands-on event in North America. If you were one of the lucky players to test your hunting skills against the Great Jagras or the Anjanath, please share your thoughts below.

But if you couldn’t make it to the show, you can live vicariously through the awesome folks that came by and recorded gameplay footage, like veteran Gunlance and Bow master Shepard. I saw some other Pro monster hunters get some quality time with the game too…

Speaking of pros, right before PAX, we had fighting game expert Maximilian come by the office and go out on a few hunts. Check out his impressions here too:

——————————

Patrick Kulikowski: MAGFest (Music and Gaming Festival) made its West Coast debut in Santa Clara, California as “MAGWest” at the end of August, and you better believe that several game music cover bands assembled and rocked out to some classic Capcom game tunes during its nightly concerts.

Imagine the huge smile on my face as I personally witnessed cover band Kirby’s Dream Band, joined by several other musicians on stage, jamming and dancing with the crowd to the short “Get Weapon” tune from Mega Man 3 for five straight minutes. And then there was Viking Guitar, who busted out a surf rock arrangement of the familiar Ghosts ‘n Goblins stage music as well as a heavy metal medley of Mega Man X2 goodness.

While no video recording has been made available, VGM cover band The Koopas also put on a mighty fine Mega Man X medley, so shout-outs to them as well!

Kirby’s Dream Band

  • “Ken’s Stage” & “Guile’s Stage” from Street Fighter II (originally composed by Yoko Shimomura) – 10:56
  • “The Moon Stage” from DuckTales (originally composed by Hiroshige Tonomura) – 55:15
  • “Storm Eagle” from Mega Man X (originally composed by Makoto Tomozawa) – 58:17
  • “Get A Weapon” from Mega Man 3 (originally composed by Yasuaki Fujita) – 1:00:39

Viking Guitar

“1st & 2 nd BGM” from Ghosts ‘n Goblins (originally composed by Ayako Mori) – 25:10

Mega Man X2 – Charge Shot” (Mega Man X2 medley including “Opening Stage”, “Magna Centipede Stage,” “Flame Stag Stage,” and “X Hunter Stage 1,” originally composed by Yuki Iwai) 32:27

And once you’ve finishing bobbing your head to all of the above, feast your eyes on this epic Resident Evil cosplay photo . This S.T.A.R.S. vs. Umbrella battle took place on a giant staircase at Dragon Con in Atlanta, Georgia this past Labor Day weekend.

Who do you think would win? Umbrella may have Wesker and Nemesis, but S.T.A.R.S. has two Barry Burtons. ‘Nuff said!

Dead Rising 4 brings Frank’s Big Package to PS4

Sep 01, 2017 // Jeffery Simspon

The most common question I’ve been asked as the Community Manger for Dead Rising has been, “When is Dead Rising 4 coming to PlayStation 4?”

Uniformly my answer was the safe go-to, “We haven’t announced additional platforms at this point.”

From today on I’ll be able to say, “#$%& yes we’re coming to PlayStation 4 and we’re bringing some #$%&ing cool stuff with us!” See it’s not just Dead Rising 4 that’s coming to PS4 but it’s the all new super-sized collection Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package .

What the #$%& is Frank’s Big Package? #$%& I’m glad you asked, because otherwise this transition was going to be awkward. Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package includes:

  • Dead Rising 4: the latest, greatest version of the game including post-launch difficulty settings and upcoming updates
  • Capcom Heroes: an all-new way to experience the Dead Rising 4 story that lets our hero Frank West wear over a dozen outfits and perform outrageous special attacks inspired by classic Capcom characters
  • All downloadable content: costumes and weapons from the Stocking Stuffer Holiday Pack, additional single player content in Frank Rising and multiplayer action in Super Ultra Dead Rising 4 Mini Golf .
  • All bonus content: Street Fighter Outfit Pack, My Bloody Valentine Pack, Candy Cane Crossbow, Slicecycle, Sir-Ice-A-Lot, Ugly Winter Sweater, and X-Fists.

Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package will be coming to PlayStation 4 on December 5, 2017 for $49.99 MSRP. Current Dead Rising 4 players on Xbox One, Steam and Windows 10 will receive the all-new “Capcom Heroes” mode as a free update when Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package is released along with the upcoming updates.

I’m excited for you all to see Frank’s Big Package. Stay tuned to Dead Rising’s Facebook and Twitter accounts for more details on Capcom Heroes and Frank’s Big Package .

Puzzle Fighter goes mobile

Aug 31, 2017 // Jeffery Simspon

The Servbots have been busy building the next iteration of Capcom’s classic Puzzle Fighter.

After a lot of hard work the fighting ring is almost ready and E. Honda will soon be opening his restaurant. Everyone here at Capcom Vancouver is incredibly excited that we’re working on bringing you the sequel to one of the most popular puzzle games of all time. We’ve developed this new mobile Puzzle Fighter from the ground up and have focused on modernizing the classic look and feel of the beloved arcade classic for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

We’ve invited many of your favorite Capcom characters to join the battle creating Puzzle Fighter’s outstanding roster of legendary characters and stages from popular Capcom franchises. One of the most exciting things for us has been being able to play with all the best toys in the Capcom Tickle Trunk (toy chest for you non-Canadians). We’ve been able to bring together fan-favorites characters like Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li from Street Fighter, X from the Mega Man series, Morrigan of Darkstalkers fame and of course Frank West and Chuck Greene from our own Dead Rising games. All of those classic Capcom characters and more come to life with voiceovers and cinematic special moves.

As a player you’ll pick one main character, each with their own strengths and benefits, to step into the ring. In addition you’ll have two assist characters that will enhance the abilities of your main. We’ve aimed for simple yet highly addictive puzzle action where you will strategically build up gems and destroy them to unleash epic combos that can knock out their opponent. We’re especially excited that we’ve been able to create real-time player-versus-player gameplay on mobile devices, bringing all the action of head-to-head Puzzle Fighter on the go.

Initially we will be soft launching Puzzle Fighter in select countries soon andthe team is working towards a global release planned for late 2017.

If you’re attending PAX West in Seattle this weekend, stop by the Capcom booth (#2309) to be one of the first in the world to get hands-on gameplay time with Puzzle Fighter .

Stay up-to-date with all the latest news on Puzzle Fighter by following us on Twitter and Facebook , join in the discussion about the game in the Puzzle Fighter forums, and visit www.puzzlefighter.com for more details.

Capcom at PAX West 2017

Aug 30, 2017 // Yuri Araujo

Time to pack your bags and start your journey to PAX West 2017 in Seattle, WA. Once the event begins, head on over to the two (yes, two!) Capcom booths #2109 and #2309 to play our latest selection of amazing games!

So what’s Capcom doing with not one, but two booths this PAX?! One booth ( #2309 ) will feature a wide selection of Capcom games and the Capcom Store, while the other ( #2109 ) will be a dedicated Monster Hunter: World booth, complete with a life-sized Rathalos! Both booths are directly across the aisle from one another, so you won’t be able to miss either of them!

Here’s the breakdown of what you’ll find in each booth:

#2309 – CAPCOM BOOTH

Capcom Store – No, this is not a brand new store simulation video game. It is, however, the place where you’ll find awesome Capcom merchandise, ranging from cool pin sets and t-shirts all the way to beautiful collectible Nendoroids, like this Mega Man X one.

Now, onto the video games!

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite – We have for you the crossover of the century in this all-star attraction at the Capcom booth. With all 30 characters and six Infinity Stones playable, you can craft the team of your dreams! Also, look out for an amazing statue of the game’s super villain, Ultron Sigma, sitting majestically on his throne. It’s a photo opp you don’t want to miss.

Puzzle Fighter – That’s right! Puzzle Fighter is coming back with an all-new sequel built from the ground up for mobile, featuring a legendary cast of Capcom characters from a number of beloved Capcom franchises. PAX West will be the first chance to play the game so come test your gem-crushing skills against other players in intense versus battles. Make sure to keep an eye on www.puzzlefighter.com for more updates and be the first to know when Puzzle Fighter becomes available on iPhone, iPad and Android devices later this year.

Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package –Frank West returns to Willamette, and to the PS4, to catch the latest scoop on a new outbreak, kick some butt, and take grade-A selfies. We’re now bringing that entire experience, plus all additional content, to the PlayStation 4 later this year! Be among the first to try it out at our booth.

Street Fighter VA new challenger has arrived , and at PAX West this year, you’ll get the chance to try out her mystical trickster moves against other players. Menat is available now on Street Fighter V, but if you don’t have this new character yet, PAX West will be a great place to see what she’s made of.

Resident Evil Revelations – Both newcomers and seasoned veterans alike can experience the thrills and chills of Raid Mode in Resident Evil Revelations! Choose from a cast of memorable characters and fight your way through intense stages, clashing with a variety of enemies pulled right from the game’s story. Enemy variations that can change up their speed, damage, defense, and more will keep you on your toes as you search for both valuable weapons and parts to customize them with. If you can’t play at PAX West, you can always play at home: Resident Evil Revelations is out now for PS4 and Xbox One.

#2109 – MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD BOOTH

And directly facing Ultron Sigma, you’ll see another majestic being: the King of the Skies himself, Rathalos. Don’t worry, he’s not there to scare you away. On the contrary: you are very welcome and encouraged to come by and take your photo with this larger than life wyvern!

Step further into the booth and under his wings, and you’ll get to play our latest four player co-op demo of Monster Hunter: World, the first public showing in North America! Featuring all 14 weapon types, two quests to choose from, and the entire expanse of the Ancient Forest at your fingertips, there is a lot to explore here! Bring your hunting party or make new friends in line, but just remember to have fun and work together—the Anjanath certainly won’t be holding back!

To close things out, I am very excited to announce that, for the first time, Capcom will be participating in the Pinny Arcade pin quest! So come play the Monster Hunter: World demo and you can get yourself an exclusive Monster Hunter: World emblem pin FOR FREE!

See you at PAX!

Resident Evil Revelations is out now on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Aug 29, 2017 // Kellen Haney

Resident Evil Revelations is out now for PS4 and Xbox One for just $19.99 both digitally and physically with all originally released DLC included and looking better than ever! Serving as a bridge between the events of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, you’ll explore various locations such as the Queen Zenobia cruise ship adrift at sea, while putting yourself in the boots of fan-favorite characters such as Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, plus newer faces, like Jill’s partner Parker Luciani. Fight your way through terrifying enemies and uncover a tangled web of deceit in search of the truth.

Exploring a tale of betrayal and revenge, Revelations first sees BSAA agents Jill Valentine and Parker Luciani dispatched to the derelict Queen Zenobia cruise ship in search of missing agents Chris Redfield and Jessica Sherawat. Soon after they arrive, however, the two are forced to sink or swim as it becomes clear that the ship is infested with bio organic weapons, with Chris and Jessica nowhere to be found. In classic survival horror fashion, you’ll need to watch your ammo and your back if you want to stand any chance of getting out alive.

Fortunately, this rescue-turned-survival mission doesn’t leave you completely stranded – using the useful Genesis Scanner, you’ll be able to search for hidden items and scan your enemies to gather combat data for rewards, including life-saving green herbs and more.

With a story featuring multiple playable characters and plenty of shocking cliffhangers, you might think it’d be easy to lose your place, but Resident Evil Revelations has you covered with helpful recaps of previous events each time you start a new chapter. It’s a bit like watching your favorite TV show, getting you up to speed if you haven’t played in a while. You’ll have plenty of plotlines to explore both in the present as you investigate the resurgence of the extremist group Il Veltro, and in the past as you witness the Terragrigia Panic.

There’s plenty more to play beyond the main campaign with the terrific Raid Mode offering nearly endless hours of content. Fight your way through locations from the campaign with various characters and weapons, taking down powerful enemies along the way. Customize your weapons to your playstyle with parts earned or found by completing maps in Raid Mode, or purchased using in-game currency from completing maps. Find your perfect character and weapon combo, and take on increasingly difficult maps and challenges! In addition to all previously released content, an ultra-challenging stage remix has been added called The Ghost Ship: Chaos. Push your skills and your characters to the limit with intense encounters and enemies beyond the level cap. If you have what it takes to survive to the very end, you could win some of the most powerful weapons and rewards that the game has to offer.

Resident Evil Revelations is available now for $19.99 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One! Don’t forget – if you like your horror on the go, both Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2 are coming to the Nintendo Switch November 28th, 2017.

Menat, The Eyes of the Future, makes her way to Street Fighter V August 29th

Aug 28, 2017 // Harrison Young

You may have seen her haunting Ed in his dreams, but Menat has now become a reality and officially makes her way into Street Fighter V this Tuesday! Hit the jump to learn more about this all new, mysterious fortune teller.

Menat is an apprentice of a famous Fortune teller that lives in Italy. The techniques she was taught revolve around her crystal sphere, which she controls with her soul power. This power lets her extend the base of her attacks, giving her a fortunate advantage at longer ranges. She is also able to send it out at the opponent to disrupt attacks, where she can later call it back. While the crystal sphere is out, she can cancel any normal attack and her V-Skill into Soul Sphere: Ankh, calling the crystal ball back to her, greatly increasing her combo potential.

V-Skill : Soul Reflect – Kamal

Produce a shock wave attack from her soul power. While the crystal sphere is retracted, this lets her reflect the average projectile back at the opponent. If the crystal ball was sent out into battle prior to using her V-Skill, this will absorb the projectile to help build up her v-gauge. This can also be used to launch the opponent into the air to help extend combos.

V-Trigger: Wisdom of Thoth

Menat summons six spheres with her soul power andeach sphere is linked to her normal attacks. Pressing and releasing of a normal attack sends the sphere linked to that attack flying at the opponent.

Critical Art: The Nefertem

Menat sends her crystal sphere to bind her soul power with the opponent to deal devastating damage.

Mastering this fortune teller is dependent on knowing when to use her crystal sphere to keep her opponents at bay, and when to unleash it to create unpredictable mixups.

Also coming alongside Menat on August 29 th are her Story and Battle costumes.

And don’t forget, the SFV Season 2 Character Pass is available for $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99 and will grant pass holders with Akuma, Kolin, Ed, Abigail, Menat and an addition brand new fighters to be announced later this year. The pass comes with Premium Battle Costumes with colors 3-10 unlocked and default costume colors 3-10 for each character. Additionally, Season 2 Character Pass holders will receive an exclusive PS4 theme!

One last thing! To help celebrate the 30 th Anniversary of Street Fighter, players who log into Street Fighter V from August 29th to September 5 th will receive an additional 30,000FM!

For the latest updates on Street Fighter V, follow us on  Facebook  and  Twitter .

Resident Evil 7 biohazard Dev Interviews: The Influence of Revelations

Monster Hunter brought joy to fansat gamescom in Germany this week. Last week we released two featured videos, and this week, we showed live gameplay of the game’s new Wildspire Waste ecosystem and hosted the first public playable demo of Monster Hunter: World. New players and veterans alike were excited to see for themselves what a current gen console Monster Hunter experience feels like. But hey, don’t take my word for it; check out these gameplay sessions posted by our friends in the press below:

Polygon – Phil and Griffin Talk Monster Hunter: World

Game Informer – Hands-On Impressions of Monster Hunter: World

Yuri Araujo: And if you’re in the mood for more deep dive videos, our YouTuber buddy  Arekkz recorded breakdowns of some of the weapons and other new features. Check out his take on the Glider Mantle, one of my favorite new features:

Patrick Kulikowski: We’ve got a very cool remix of music from Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 5, and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, courtesy of our friends over at OverClocked ReMix . Remixers David L. Puga and Mak Eightman wove Jun Fukuda and Masafumi Takada’s “Wesker’s Beginnings,” Misao Senbongi and Shusaku Uchiyama’s “The Mercenaries: Wesker” and Kota Suzuki’s “Wind of Madness” into one big arrangement entitled “(Progeny) of a Frail Humanity.” The chilling piano strokes and ambient twang of the guitars, followed by a crescendo of drums and electric guitar noodling are sure to conjure up some bleak and sinister images of the cold and calculating Resident Evil supervillain. Give it a listen!
