Additional characters, first story mode trailer, pre-order details and release date for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Apr 25, 2017 // ComboFiend

As exciting as our prior Marvel vs. Capcom fighting games have been, we’ve never seen a true fusion of the two iconic universes. Yes, heroes and villains crossed the stream, so to speak, but did we ever truly see the worlds collide? In Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, not only will combatants from both sides be hurled into chaos, but they’ll also be hounded by the game’s titanic new threat – Ultron Sigma, a fusion of two of the most menacing mechanoids from the Marvel and Capcom universes.

Ultron. Sigma. Infinity Stones. Marvel and Capcom locations fused together. What more do you need?

It’s just one of many selling points for MvC:I, which will officially release on September 19 th , 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. And once you’ve (presumably!) saved the universe in Story Mode, you’ll still have Arcade, Training and Mission modes to consider, plus various multiplayer offerings, naturally.

And who’s fighting to save the day? We’re pleased today to announce the following additions to the MvC:I roster:

  • Ultron
  • Hulk
  • Thor
  • Hawkeye
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Chun-Li
  • Strider Hiryu
  • Chris Redfield

Pre-orders begin today, and there are three different ways to join the fight against Ultron Sigma.

The Deluxe Edition also includes the 2017 Character Pass, which gives you access to six post-launch characters – the first one being Sigma himself!

Collector’s Edition ($199.99 MSRP)

Pre-order this bad boy and you’re gonna be the proud new owner for FOUR detailed, interlinking dioramas from TriForce, plus LED-powered Infinity Stones and the Deluxe Edition of the game. Make some room on your desk before you pre-order!

Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers gets a new trailer

The Disney Afternoon Collection, bringing back some real 90s gems, is finally out on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Funny story: when I first started working on this project, the 90s aesthetic felt like a fun novelty to me… but then I started noticing lots and lots more references to that time period along with other project announcements (TV shows, movies, etc.), so… are the 90s finally 100… % back?

And for a quick history lesson on the protagonists in The Disney Afternoon Collection games, we worked closely with our friends at Laser Time to put together these awesome character retrospectives. You can watch the TaleSpin and Darkwing Duck ones below, but stay tuned for two more of these coming your way soon!

In addition to all the Street Fighter updates listed above, I just wanted to shine an extra spotlight on the work-themed costumes coming to SFV . You should check out the full blog post for more shots and concept art of each of the costumes. For this theme, Alex, R. Mika and Chun-Li get new premium costumes, and my best guess is they didn’t include Urien because… well, he’s already wearing work clothes. Anyways, here’s a taste of Alex’s costume.

Stephanie Palermo Hello again! Stephanie here following up on a promise to showcase a few of my favorite submissions from last week’s fan-hosted Draw Mega Man Day event. There were hundreds to enjoy so thank you to everyone for joining in the fun whether you shared your own art or simply absorbed the skills of others for your own power and pleasure.

Oops, there may be a spicy, slicey theme going on here… Underneath those deep cuts, Cut Man’s really just a sweetheartbot. â¤

Enjoy Cut Man and more, like this great Tron Bonne , a musical melody from Splash Woman , and this Mega Man family portrait with Rush, because of course dogbot = family. All these and more if you Search Snake your way through the hashtag #DMMD2017 on Twitter.

Work Costumes Coming to Street Fighter V!

Apr 20, 2017 // Harrison Young

It’s time to punch in for work!

In our previous blogpost , we mentioned school costumes are coming to Street Fighter V for Ryu, Chun-Li and Juri, alongside the remastered Thailand stage.

That’s not all as we have three more work-themed costumes coming on the same day for Alex, R. Mika and Chun-Li. The team created these by thinking what sort of jobs would the characters have, if they weren’t fighting?

Alex is all warmed up; paying tribute to the brave men and women of his hometown with a firefighter costume. We think we could make an entire calendar of just screenshots of Alex in this costume.

R. Mika, the Rainbow Bomber, is utilizing her vocal prowess and fighting spirit in a cheerleader costume. In case you’re wondering, the pom-poms can be taken off.

Chun-Li dons business attire, ready to tackle any meeting. Between Chun-Li’s work costume and Kolin’s nostalgia costume, who would you want to work with?

For those who want to rock the workplace, these costumes join the previously announced School Costumes and will be available on April 25 th for $3.99 / ï¿¥400 / €3.99 each.

We are happy to announce the test has allowed us to make further adjustments to optimize the new CFN. We know you’re all very eager for the new CFN but we also want to ensure it meets all of our expectations before it officially launches. In order to help us get the new CFN to where it needs to be, we are looking into conducting an additional Beta Test soon. In case you missed what the new CFN entails, check out our previous blogpost here .

For the potential additional Beta Test, current and new players will be able to participate in the beta for FREE and all released characters will be unlocked for play for the duration of the test, including the next Season 2 DLC character. The identity of the new Street Fighter V character will be revealed soon.

Also, closely tied to the new CFN are the new Season 2 Balance Updates and the next Season 2 DLC Character. For the full list of balance changes, check out our previous blogpost here . These additional balance changes and the next Season 2 DLC character were originally planned to launch at the end of April. Return to Thailand! – Thailand Stage Remastered and School Costumes Coming to SFV April 25th

Apr 18, 2017 // Harrison Young

Hey World Warriors!

As revealed at our WonderCon 2017 panel, the iconic Thailand Stage has been remastered and is making its debut in Street Fighter V. The Thailand Stage is where we all first met M. Bison, the evil dictator and head of Shadaloo, in Street Fighter II. Hit the jump to checkout more info on the costumes and stage.

The stage’s intricate bell and statues have been carefully recreated in SFV with great detail, as well as the stage’s memorable theme.

Below are some concept art sketches from the team. We even explored a night time version of the stage, dramatically lit with candles but ultimately chose to stay true the original stage as much as possible.

The Thailand Stage will be available on April 25 th for $3.99 / ï¿¥400 / €3.99. It is also available for 70,000 Fight Money.

Also revealed at our WonderCon 2017 panel and on the Street Fighter Academy Quiz on April Fools, we are happy to unveil concept art and the final in-game look for the three premium school costumes for Ryu, Chun-Li and Juri.

Ryu’s costume is based on a stereotypical Japanese Bancho (student gang leader) with direct input from a team member who actually used to wear clothes like this when he was younger. The lining on his coat depicts a faceoff between a Dragon and a Tiger.

Keeping with the atmosphere of her origin, Chun-Li’s costume represents her as an Honor Roll student. She only has the highest standards for herself and always aims to be the top of her class.

As you can see, Juri really pulls off the black lipstick and nails. The team had a lot of fun creating a Gothic schoolgirl look for her. We especially love the spider on the back of her jacket!

For those who want to rule the schoolyard, each costume will also be available on April 25 th for $3.99 / ï¿¥400 / €3.99.

More new content for April is on the way, so stay tuned for more. For the latest updates on Street Fighter V, follow us on  Facebook  and  Twitter .

Monster Hunter Stories coming to Nintendo 3DS this fall

The Disney Afternoon Collection Trophy and Achievement list revealed

By the way, just dropping a quick reminder that The Disney Afternoon Collection comes out this coming Tuesday, April 18! You probably already know the six classic games featured in this compilation, but you probably haven’t seen some of the archival material we managed to sneak in there for you. Just this week we talked about the original games’ boxes :

——————————

The Capcom Pro Tour is in full swing and this weekend, California heats up with NorCal Regionals (NCR). Looking at the current lineup of Street Fighter V players, I can already tell you the competition is gonna be pretty fierce: we’ve got NuckleDu, Marn, Tokido, FChamp, Punk, Momochi, Justin Wong and Fuudo, all who are also currently competing on ELEAGUE , and many more! Make sure to check out NCR’s page for the full schedule of all other fighting games, too!

——————————

Kellen Haney “And the winner is…”

Those of you who have checked out the “21” DLC for Resident Evil 7 biohazard are familiar with the mix of hope and despair brought on by hearing Lucas Baker utter that phrase. For those of you unfamiliar, “21” is a side story to RE7 which finds the hapless camera operator Clancy trapped in a deadly card game where losing a hand refers to more than just the cards being dealt. Reddit user lugia10 decided to recapture some of this survival horror of a different nature by working on a set of cards similar to the grungy, worn-out cards on display in the game.

Looks like they’re off to a great start! It seems like they’re not only making the cards, but also making a set of rules based off of the ones in-game (minus the, uh, more Baker-esque aspects). You can head over to lugia10’s Reddit thread to help cheer them on, or offer some advice on how to make their cards just as dingy and stained as Lucas would like them.

——————————

Artist Dennis Daniel Lima apparently just joined Twitter and… what a way to start! So far he’s put out some excellent pieces of Capcom fan art in different art styles. My favorite one so far is this crossover of Darkstalkers characters hanging out in E. Honda’s bathhouse.

I’m also very fond of this interpretation of Mega Man X:

Speaking of Mega Man, here’s Stephanie again with something pretty fun for ya:

Stephanie Palermo Hello, hello, again, Unity friends. Did you know today (4/14) is Draw Mega Man Day? Art enthusiast Andrew is hosting an event on your social media channel of choice today (like Twitter, Tumblr) encouraging fellow fans to draw Blue Bomber art. Which Mega Man series applies, you ask? That’s a good question. Art from any and all Mega Man series is welcome – from the classic series to StarForce. Use the hashtag #DMMD2017 and we may just reach out to feature your work here next week! Not an artist? Check out the hashtag to absorb the energy of all the cool work everyone’s contributing!

——————————

STICKY NOTE: Did you make something cool? Send us a note or drop a comment below; we would love to feature your work here! Same goes for any awesome stuff you may see in the wild; we always welcome more fantastic fan work. =)

——————————

And with that, we wrap up another week of Capcom goodness. Remember to stay tuned to the blog reel and social media channels for more immediate updates, but otherwise, I’ll see you here again next week!
