A First Look at Decapre!

Mar 20, 2014 // ComboFiend

Since Decapre’s release, there’s been a  good amount  of  footage of her in action . Cool attacks aside, a question that comes up often is “who is Decapre?” and “why does she look so similar to Cammy?” Those questions and more are answered in this week’s Ayano blog.

Hey everyone, Tomoaki Ayano here!

Last Sunday we were finally able to reveal Decapre to the world! From the producer, Sugiyama-san, showcasing her gameplay on Hagi Toko!, to the vids Combofiend has released there’s plenty of media to check out so that you can get a feel for this new character.

We plan to talk more about her play style and abilities in the future, but for today we’d like to explore her story.

For those not in the know, Decapre is a clone of Cammy. At a quick glance she does look like a scary Cammy with a mask.

This is the main poster. We’ve brought out the aura around her braids and her claw is glowing, perhaps reflecting the owner’s intent. And check out the background—are those dolls in those capsules?! Speaking of capsules, there was something similar in one part of her opening movie.

Decapre was also inside one of these capsules. Could this be where the cloning process takes place? The mystery deepens.

Is this Cammy as a kid? It looks like she’s talking to Decapre. We can guess that the two have met before in the past.

Kid Cammy doesn’t quite have the stern look that she’ll eventually develop. She looks much more innocent!

However, it seems that Decapre harbors an intense hatred towards Cammy. What could have happened between the two?

Speaking of angry, when you look at her development sketches, it seems she’s mostly either screaming of frowning. And what’s with that scar underneath her mask?!

Despite being Cammy’s clone, her facial expressions differ quite a bit and she feels younger in general. Just who is she? And what will happen between her and Cammy?!

Perhaps the opening and ending movies might just shed a little light on the subject.

…to be continued!

Even though Decapre has movements similar to Cammy’s, she has her own unique set of special moves, and she primarily uses her dagger in attacking. With its reach, it will probably give her an advantage in mid-range battles.

Since she’s fundamentally a charge character, the key to using her effectively will be finding ways to attack while storing up charge.

Rapidly pressing the punch buttons causes her to run forward while attacking with her blades. This could be a good way of moving forward while storing charge!

This is a charge character who is quite different from the likes of Bison and Vega.

In the future we’d like to take a closer look at her moves, but that’s it for today.

See you again next week!

Brush up on your Mega Man VO history with this handy vid

Mar 19, 2014 // Minish Capcom

If you’ve been playing games / watching anime / generally living since the ’80s and ’90s, odds are you have a few favorite voice actors, or are at least aware of how prevelant some actors can be across these mediums. Since Mega Man has spanned cartoons, toys, games and more, he’s amassed quite a stable of well-known VO-ers – and this helpful video summarizes much of them into six minutes!

How does Sugar Ray tie into Mega Man? If you don’t already know, it’s pretty bizarre and worth watching just to discover for yourself. Didja know they also had a song on the ’90s Mega Man album, which is also home to this amazing piece of music:

Enjoy!

Dead Rising 3 Los Perdidos sign is purdy, available for cheaper than ever

Mar 19, 2014 // GregaMan

We finally got some of those cool “Welcome to Los Perdidos Hell” signs in the office, and I wanted to give you guys a bit of a closer look since they’re really pretty finely detailed and the stock image on the store may not completely do them justice (better pic after the jump).

Plus, they’re currently marked down to $19.95! Go buy one for your man cave, lady lair, or, uh, zombie zone!

Note the fine embossing on the part of the sign that would, in real life, be embossed! Also note the bulletholes, cracked paint, and other miscellaneous apocalyptic gunk. Perfect for your gaming room or any other location you think of as hell on earth.

residentevil.net celebrates series birthday with powerful free items

Mar 19, 2014 // Minish Capcom

Ah, March 1996. The Nintendo 64 was mere months away, Twister was about to delight audiences around the world with its impressive effects and brand new Van Halen song , and – perhaps most relevant to this blog post – the first zombie dog burst through a creepy mansion window.

To celebrate this 18th bday, RE.net is offering up three new (and free) items for RE Revelations. You can log on between March 22 and April 3 to redeem these items.

Enhanced Python: Serpent (Level 46, Slot 3)

A trusty ally, especially for the second half of Raid mode.

Unlock with present code [resident].

Great all-around performance: Revelator (Level 31, Slot 5)

A balanced weapon for just about any situation.

Unlock with present code [evil].

-CUSTOM PARTS-

Speed is power: Fire Rate 4

Most of the time you’ll want to unload as quickly as possible, and for that there are few boosts as effective as this part.

Unlock with present code [eighteen].

Make your own luck: Critical 5

Critical hits can help you escape difficult situations, and this part can help bend those odds in your favor.

Unlock with present code [years].

An Agent’s best friend: Damage 5

Can be attached to any weapon for an easy firepower boost.

Unlock with present code [anniversary].

All these items should be pretty helpful in the middle-ranges of Raid Mode, so if you’ve hit a wall, perhaps these will be the boost you need!

There’s also an EX3 event happening soon for RE6, plus additional Revelatons online events so hop on over to residentevil.net & check ’em out.

24 pictures of Monster Hunter The Real 2014

Mar 19, 2014 // Yuri Araujo

What if your favorite Monster Hunter monsters were…  REAL !

So some of our folks here made a quick trip to Japan and took a day to cruise around Universal Studios Japan and pretend to look frightened at the sight of these mechanical, but totally REAL, beasts!

Hopefully  Monster Hunter  will one day be as big here as it is Japan, just so we can get these attractions on western theme-parks, like this  Resident Evil maze.

Life-size Tigrex looking fierce

Some super rad Universal Studios Japan themed equipment

Rathalos taking a break from ruling the Real skies here

Adorable USJ Felynes!

Some sort of bag or pouch thing, made to look like one of the new weapon classes in MH4U

Speaking of MH4U, say hello to Gore Magala…

After you kill it, you can make this mean-looking Bow!

Eternal Eradicator – a classic Great Sword from the Freedom days

Now here’s something you could take home… a 1/10 scale Tigrex! Actually, I kinda doubt it’s for sale… =/

A Monster Hunter themed Food Truck, where you can buy “Well-done Steak The Great” and…

“Monster Hunter Drink The Great” – no I did not make these names up!

This GIF is a little bonus for you guys… also my first GIF! D:

WAIT, THERE’S MORE! To conserve your browser and data usage, I’ve put the remaining 12 pictures on this gallery. You’re welcome. =P

So what do you think? Definitely something worth waiting in line for, right? 😉

Mega Man heads to Super Mario 3D Land…sorta

Mar 18, 2014 // Chris

And other slightly deceiving pictures to make the heart sing!

No, this isn’t Mega Man taking on Mushroom Man’s stage, it’s actually from a newly-revealed Smash Bros. stage , and it’s something we haven’t seen in any of the Wii U screenshots  thus far.

Based on the amazing Super Mario 3D Land, Smash designer Masahiro Sakurai also revealed that the level will (side)scroll and takes two minutes to see in its entirety. See the rest of Sakurai’s thought’s below or o n the Miiverse
