Plus several other examples that will make you thankful for bleeps and bloops
I’m a bit of a VGM nerd, and like many of you, very particular about the sounds emanating from my original NES games. This video’s title immediately let me know I was about to get wonderfully trolled, and the contents within certainly didn’t let me down. Champions of chiptunes, get ready to be hilariously offended by the modern era!
Mega Man examples at 1:04 and 1:52
Amazing… I love how Heat’s stage turns into a cacophonous lava and helicopter-strewn hellscape, yet it also gives you a chance to appreciate the quiet hum Metal Man kept his level running at. And so you know, these wonderful audio yuks (featuring Zelda, Contra, and more) come courtesy of Jake “Virt” Kaufman , the composer of the music in DuckTales: Remastered (he’s also featured in our Duckumentaries ) and previously responsible for this splendid little musical sacrilege:
This Friday kicks off the start of the Capcom Pro Tour. We’ll be at one of the most prestigious and longest running events within the Fighting Game Community, Final Round. Head over to the Capcom Pro Tour site for more information on what’s going down.
Man, that Rathalos just fits right in that Mocking Jay pin design from The Hunger Games . Excellent job Ashmish !
This is definitely one of those of “how did I not think about this before?!” moments (see MH3U box art and The Hunger Games cover) … but then again, if you know Ashmish’s art, you’ll know to expect this level of awesomness.
I actually have my eyes on another awesome MH crossover fan art to post at a later time, so stay tuned. =)
The god of manual dexterity known as Desk has decided to grace with another display of his awe inspiring execution. In “No Red Focus” Desk shows that the characters in Ultra SFIV are only finally gaining the ability to do what El Fuerte’s been doing for so long.
Don’t try this at home folks or you may end up with swollen thumbs or severly calloused fingers.
::UPDATE:: Round 1 over! Results coming soon. Come back to the blog tomorrow for Round 2!
All right Strider players–it’s time to prove your mettle. Starting exactly now and ending next Monday, March 17th at noon PT, we will hold our first Strider Leaderboard Showdown.
This week’s round, Round 1, will take place on the PlayStation 4. To participate, simply add our PSN ID (Capcom_Unity) as a friend on PSN and clear the game on Normal mode. Then please tell us your PSN ID here in the comments or in a private message to me. This is so we are able to issue your badges.
Come next Monday, we’ll check the leaderboard for Clear Time (Normal) filtered by our friends, and reward the player with the best time with one of the stylish, Striderific scarves being modeled by Brelston above.
All other participants will receive this snazzy Strider badge designed by Unity’s own .killa.! Just make sure I have your PSN ID if you want one.
And that’s it! We will of course do the other versions of the game in coming weeks, so never fear if you’re not a PS4 player. To the rest of you: good luck!
I’m pretty sure anyone readying this post has to have watched SF: The Movie. And, I’m pretty sure we all wonder “what happened to a movie that had so much potential?”
The fine folks at Polygon have delved into this topic, speaking with the writer of SF:TM Stephen De Souza about his experience on the set with the cast during the filming of the movie. You can read the story here .
Time’s up! You had a solid week to submit entries for our #SaluteSigma challenge , and we’ve got a winner (plus some great additional entries) to share.
Our winning image comes from Tabitha ” Digitally Fanged ” Ramsey. This striking pose shows Sigma tossing away his signature cape, likely preparing for battle or perhaps some kind of messy dinner. Can’t get sauce on that fabric, man!
Congrats – we’ll get the statue out to you this month.
I also really enjoyed this YouTube tribute from Darkhawk (no relation to Marvel’s Darkhawk , I assume), which splices Sigma’s many appearances into one video, and set to an aggressive WWE track.
Hit up the #SaluteSigma tag for even more. And tell ya what – anyone who submitted a piece of art by March 7 can ping me here on Unity and I’ll send ya a MM25 pin 🙂
While Guile’s Theme goes with Everything , I have a feeling Mega Man 2 Dr. Wily Stage 1 takes the prize for most covered Capcom tune… and I love it!
It’s such an awesome tune and the main riffs lend themselves so well to guitar (or sax ) covers… I’ll say no more, enjoy the video below and let me know what you think:
PS: I definitely love the little improv-style section in the middle. Nice touch.
UPDATE: The stream is over but the archive is already on YouTube , and embedded below:
Hunters, as you already know today is Monday… so that means Monster Hunter Mondays at 3PM (Pacific) at twitch.tv/capcomunity – Help D Lobby 10 if you wanna join us.
If you missed our Sigma contest (or, going back a ways, our Project X Zone contest ) but still want to flex your artistic talent, check out AWD’s ” Mega Man gender swap challenge ,” which tasks artists with inventing a new look for the robo-cast. Cut Woman? Splash Man? All are on the table!
