Monster Hunter: World version 5.11 (PS4) / 5.1.0.1 (Xbox One) patch notes

Oct 16, 2018 // Yuri Araujo

Monster Hunter: World version 5.11 (PS4) / 5.1.0.1 (Xbox One) is now live. Patch notes are available below.

Lunastra Ticket

  • A bug has been fixed where the reward item “Lunastra Ticket”, from the event quest “When Blue Dust Surpasses Red Lust”, would be placed in your item pouch or item box as a consumable item and could not be used as a material. This occurred even after the item had been converted from an “Unavailable” item, after you had updated to version 5.10 after having experienced the bug in which you obtained the “Unavailable” item instead of the “Lunastra Ticket” (which occurred from completing the quest “When Blue Dust Surpasses Red Lust” without updating to version 5.10).
  • Updating to version 5.11 will take any Lunastra Tickets from the consumables in your item pouch or item box and replace them into your material item box.
  • Additionally, please note that though the delivery request “Blooming Sakura” is designed to unlock by speaking to the Smithy after you’ve obtained a Lunastra Ticket, the request will not unlock if the Lunastra Ticket you possess is converted from an “Unavailable” item after having updated to version 5.10 or higher.
  • If the request does not unlock after speaking to the Smithy, please update to version 5.11 and reobtain Lunastra Tickets by completing the event quest “When Blue Dust Surpasses Red Lust” again. Then speak to the Smithy to unlock the request.

Kushala Daora’s wind armor

  • Kushala Daora’s wind armor normally repels arrows and bowgun shots, but arch-tempered Kushala Daora’s wind armor unintentionally did not repel these attacks. This issue has been fixed so that tempered and arch-tempered Kushala Daora will now repel those attacks when its wind armor is active.

Xeno’jiiva’s tail

  • A bug has been fixed that caused Xeno’jiiva’s tail to gain resistance when switching to multiplayer mode via SOS, causing it to become harder to sever.

The update file size is 95MB on PS4 and 80MB on Xbox One. Make sure you download an install it before your next play session.

Happy Hunting!

Devil May Cry 5 Deluxe Edition Breakdown

Oct 07, 2018 // Yuri Araujo

For today’s DMC5 blog, we have a very special guest from the dev team in Japan! Capcom Unity folks, meet Matt Walker. Take it away Matt!

Hello friends! This is Matt Walker, producer on Devil May Cry 5.

It’s an honor to be featured here on Capcom Unity, so first up I want to say thanks for tuning in, and more than anything – thank you so much to all of the fans for all your enthusiasm and positivity! Seriously, it’s what keeps us going and putting in that extra ounce of effort here on the dev side.

Getting to the topic at hand – we’ve had a lot of requests from fans recently to go into more detail on the Deluxe Edition of DMC5, so we wanted to take the opportunity to do that – starting with the extra weapons.

When we started designing the game, the senior producer, Okabe-san, was adamant that the whole DMC5 campaign be available without the need to purchase anything outside of the standard edition of the game, so when it came time to plan a deluxe version of the game, we were very careful to make sure that anything extra would literally be that – fun extras that hopefully the hardcore fans would appreciate.

That means none of the extra weapons should feel like they are “the best” weapon to have, but should offer something fun that might interest the hardcore players. With that being said – let’s get into the nitty gritty of these weapons!

First up we have Gerbera GP01. This is a version of Gerbera that features alternate coloring to pay tribute to its designer, Shoji Kawamori (famous for his design work on the Gundam GP01 and Macross Valkyrie). From a functional perspective, it features one alternate move compared to your standard Gerbera – when you use this Devil Breaker and keep the control stick neutral, Nero will perform “Jocky” and dart upward (from the ground) or downward (from the air), rather than sticking his hand out to face palm any enemies or projectiles that might be right up on him.

OG Gerbera

Gerbera GP01

Next is the Pasta Breaker. Nico fashioned this together using spare parts from other Devil Breakers and various kitchen utensils in order to help Nero twirl up that dinner of his. Since it was never intended to be used in battle, it’s not going to do much damage to enemies. Every time you use it, however, the remaining Devil Breakers in your inventory will cycle one spot. This means that it’s the only weapon that allows you to switch it up for the next Devil Breaker- should you choose. Because it’s not particularly effective in battle, however, you’ll want to think long and hard about whether you’d prefer to use up a spot in your DB inventory before taking the plunge.

Pasta Breaker – it may not pack a punch…

… But it WILL let you cycle your next Devil Breaker.

Sweet Surrender is more of a passive Devil Breaker. As long as Nero has this equipped he’s not going to be able to attack demons with it at all, but you can use it to slowly regenerate some health. If you’re really in a pinch, you can use Sweet Surrender’s Break Age ability to regenerate a bigger chunk of health. Either way, as long as you have Sweet Surrender equipped you’ll have to focus on racking up those sweet combos with Blue Rose and Red Queen.

Sweet Surrender – fun fact: in Japanese the onomatopoeia for the sound massagers make is “weeen weeen”

Cavaliere R is a version of Cavaliere that Nico has tuned up and painted specifically for Dante. From a functionality perspective, it adds one new move, but Dante is more susceptible to being broken out of his attacks when compared to the OG Cavaliere. Sure, you have one more move at your disposal – but you’ll have to think about whether that tradeoff in losing the super armor is really worth it!

Cavaliere R – Nico’s custom tune-up of the Cavaliere

Finally, we have the Mega Buster! It’s the Mega Buster. It goes pew pew pew. Really, if you don’t know what I’m saying just watch this video cause man I love this video:

That wraps it up for the extra weapons. Hopefully we’ve answered the biggest questions everyone has about them. As I mentioned earlier, the intent was to balance them so that there’s no such thing as the “best” Devil Breaker or version of a weapon – just that the extra weapons should provide something fun the hardcore fans can dig into should they choose to.

One last time I just want to thank everyone for all your passion and positivity. Hopefully we’ll be able to continue to share info with you directly over Capcom Unity, and we’ll always be available over all our various social media channels, so please continue reach out whenever you’d like!

Thanks for the breakdown, Matt! I was sold at the sweet added vertical mobility of the Gerbera GP01, but really good to get the deets on all the specifics of each item.

The Devil May Cry 5 Deluxe Edition is available for pre-order right now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and will be released on March 8, 2019.

Monster Hunter: World version 5.10 (PS4) / 5.1.0.0 (Xbox One) patch notes

Oct 04, 2018 // Yuri Araujo

Monster Hunter: World version 5.10 (PS4) / 5.1.0.0 (Xbox One) is now live, starting strong with the Arch-Tempered Lunastra quest “When Blue Dust Surpasses Red Lust.” Read up on the patch notes below and gear up for one of the toughest quests yet!

Warped Feystones

Drop rates for Warped Feystones have been increased in the Tempered Deviljho and Arch-Tempered elder dragon quests.

Relevant Quests:

  • Relish the Moment (Tempered Deviljho): Fucium Ore → Warped Feystone
  • The Deathly Quiet Curtain (Arch-tempered Vaal Hazak): Dreamcore Ore → Warped Feystone
  • A Whisper of White Mane (Arch-tempered Kirin): Dreamcore Ore → Warped Feystone
  • The Scorn of the Sun (Arch-tempered Teostra): Dreamcore Ore → Warped Feystone
  • The Eye of the Storm (Arch-tempered Kushala Daora): Dreamcore Ore → Warped Feystone

These reward rules will also be applied to any future quests with Arch-tempered elder dragons from update version 5.10 onwards.

Kulve Taroth pursuit exploit

Fixed an exploit that would allow you to retain a pursuit level in the Kulve Taroth Siege by intentionally disconnecting, by making it so you cannot post or join another quest for the same Kulve Taroth after claiming rewards once.

If you cannot post or join a Kulve Taroth quest, you must either wait until the other players in the session have repelled the Kulve Taroth, or move to a different session. Then you will be able to post or join quests for a new Kulve Taroth.

Elder Melder item order

The order of melding ingredients at the Elder Melder has been resorted according to the same sorting method used for items. In previous updates, new items were added to the end of the ingredient list, but now new additions will now follow this new sorting method. No items have been removed from the current ingredient list.

Combat Bug Fixes

Charge Blade

  • Fixed a bug where, if your Charge action is interrupted by damage when chaining it into a Condensed Element Slash in order to power up your Sword Mode attacks, the next attack will no longer mistakenly benefit from additional hits from phial effects.

Dual Blades

  • Fixed a bug where graphic and sound effects were not triggering correctly when exiting Demon Mode after any of the various combos.

Bow

  • Fixed a bug where Dragon Piercer would fire outside the intended range when pressing the L2 button (PS4) or the left trigger (Xbox One) just as you release an arrow when the camera is facing outside the intended aim range. We apologize for the continuous bugs related to this.

Skills

  • Fixed a bug where the effects from “Critical Draw” and “Punishing Draw” would expire before you could do damage with your weapon, due to unrelated, continuous damage sources such as torch pods. The effects from these skills will now only expire once you have made a direct weapon attack (including arrows).

General Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where, if you own the Kinsect “True Dragon Soul”, the Smithy equipment forging screen would display an icon showing that you owned “Kulve Taroth’s Fury α” when you do not actually own it.
  • Fixed a bug where, when sorting equipment at the item box, sorting weapons by the “Great Sword” category would also sort Sever-type Kinsects to the top of the list, and sorting weapons by the “Sword & Shield” category would also sort Blunt-type Kinsects to the top of the list.
  • Fixed a bug where squad information may be deleted due to delays in server requests, as a result of switching between save data too many times in a row, or repeating the process of frequently refreshing guild cards before immediately signing out. Please note that we cannot recover squad information that was lost prior to this update.
  • Fixed an issue for players who were unable to unlock the 8★ quest “Lightning Strikes Twice”. This issue occurred very rarely in high rank quests and expeditions, preventing research points from accumulating when you collect high rank Kirin traces. Updating to version 5.10 will allow the quest to unlock, but you must re-gather the necessary research points.
  • (Xbox One only) Improved the processing of the retrieval of session information to reduce the incidence of the error code “50088-MW1”, which would prevent you from joining online sessions.
  • Fixed a bug where the notification beginning “Continuing the game in offline mode. Go to a quest counter…” would not display when a communication error (due to signing out from PSN or Xbox Live, or from being disconnected) occurs when creating or joining a new online session while already in a session.
  • Fixed a bug in the Wildspire Waste where you could lock your focus camera to an empty spot, by locking onto the spot where Cactuar would appear before they actually appear.
  • Fixed a bug where your Palico would fail to restore you after running over to hit you to recover from paralysis or sleep (as a result of using the “signal” command as it runs over, causing an error in its movement destination).
  • Fixed a bug where the effects of Demondrug, Mega Demondrug, Armorskin, and Mega Armorskin that were applied to a Palico via the skill “Wide-Range” would expire for the Palico when they fainted in combat, but the expiration of these effects would not be properly synced between the players during multiplayer.
  • Fixed a bug where a monster hit with the Dragonator by a guest player in a Special Arena quest would not properly flinch from the attack, if the host player is far from the monster and accessing the supply box or otherwise waiting in camp.
  • Fixed bugs that occur when (a) you are targeting a large monster with the target camera and its icon on the lower left part of the screen is grayed out, (b) the icon of the monster you are targeting is the furthest icon on the left, and (c) either of the following occur.

    1. When using the focus camera, the target would switch away from the large monster when a small monster’s icon was added to the leftmost end of the target list.
    2. When using the target camera, the target would switch away from the large monster when a small monster disappears from the target list.

  • Fixed a bug where the health gauge wouldn’t properly change color after being inflicted with the poison or bleeding status after finishing a monster mount.
  • Fixed a bug where the order of items in the item bar would change unintentionally when you change your equipment loadout and your items are lined up in certain ways.
  • Fixed a bug where the order of items in the item bar would change unintentionally when you register an item loadout when you have supply items. When saving an item loadout, the order of items registered will ignore supply item data, and supply items obtained again afterwards may be in a different order, but this is not a bug.
  • Fixed a bug where female characters’ hair would not move properly after equipping the head armor “Shadow Shades” or the layered head armor for ‘Bushi Kabuto “Sabi”‘ and ‘Bushi Kabuto “Homare”‘.

The update file size is 310MB on PS4 and 330MB on Xbox One. Make sure you download an install it before your next play session.

READY? Mega Man 11 is out now!

Oct 02, 2018 // Kellen Haney

The Blue Bomber makes his triumphant return in Mega Man 11! Gear up with a brand-new entry in the storied series, bringing together classic gameplay and the brand-new Double Gear System to help new players out of tricky situations and give experienced players just the edge they need to squash Dr. Wily’s latest scheme. Created by a veteran team at Capcom, Mega Man 11 is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC for $29.99, so go grab a copy and get bustin’!

The year is 20XX. Mega Man has kept up the fight for everlasting peace and ended the evil ambitions of Dr. Wily time and time again, but it seems like the nefarious Doctor still hasn’t given up on his plans for world domination. Remembering his time at Robot University, Wily has come up with a brand new plan using technology he created in his youth: the Double Gear System. Putting his ideas into action, Dr. Wily relies on a tried and true method of villainy: stealing eight Robot Masters from Dr. Light’s laboratory to crush Dr. Light and Mega Man for good.

Ever the hero, Mega Man springs into action and even volunteers to have the volatile Double Gear System installed in his circuits to combat Wily and the eight reprogrammed robots. With new abilities to overpower his Mega Buster and increase his speed to the point where the world around him slows down, Mega Man sets off on his latest adventure to put a stop to Dr. Wily’s sinister ambitions.

From the bright, pyramid-dotted landscape and colorful bricks of Block Man’s stage to the frozen museum that Tundra Man has converted into his own personal ice skating arena, you’ll have your work cut out for you as you dive into the challenging stages, complete with a Robot Master waiting for you at the end of each level. In true Mega Man style, defeating a Robot Master gives you access to their unique weapon, which can give you just the edge you need against other Robot Masters or particularly pesky enemies. From dropping blocks to hurling fireballs, Mega Man’s arsenal grows with each defeated boss ‘bot, and part of the fun is the series’ tradition of figuring out which Robot Master is weak to the weapon of another.

With the addition of the Double Gear System, players of any skill level can enjoy Mega Man’s fun new abilities. Using the Power Gear, you can supercharge each weapon at the press of a button for greater effects and turn even the toughest enemies into piles of scrap metal. The Speed Gear can slow things down to help dodge incoming attacks, or provide a moment to breathe when you’re under fire. The in-game store also makes a return, with Dr. Light, Roll, and Auto converting bolts dropped by enemies or found scattered throughout stages to purchase helpful items like E Tanks to restore your health, extra lives, and unique upgrades that can customize your gameplay.

Even better, there’s a difficulty option for players of all types in Mega Man 11. The Normal difficulty offers the challenge of Mega Man just as you remember it, with tough encounters, tricky platforming, and sturdy bosses hoping to halt your progress. For those who haven’t played a Mega Man game in a while, Casual offers more frequent checkpoints and extra lives, together with adjustments to the difficulty for a more relaxed Mega Man 11 experience. For players who are brand-new to the series and those just learning the ropes of platforming games, Newcomer provides infinite lives, reduced damage from enemies, and even prevents instant death from pits and spikes. Only the most hardcore fans need apply for the most challenging difficulty of all, though. Superhero offers an extreme difficulty spike, increasing the damage that Mega Man takes among a variety of other changes. If you’re going to tackle this ultra-difficult mode, we recommend playing through on Normal at least once first!

No matter how you choose to play, the fun doesn’t end once you’ve finished the main game! Alongside the multiple difficulties to tackle, Challenge Mode offers a plethora of new ways to take on each stage. Classic modes like Time Attack are available to see how fast you can speed through stages, while unique challenges like Balloon Rush remove enemies and task you with bursting balloons scattered throughout each level while going for the fastest time. There are even more unique ways to play, like Buster Breakdown, which challenges players to fire the fewest number of shots possible. There’s even a “Playground” where you can take on unique challenges that aren’t tied to any specific stage! Nearly every Challenge Mode stage has its own leaderboards, so aim to reach the top of the charts and show everyone who the real Robot Master is.

Starting with a surprise reveal of Mega Man 11 as part of Mega Man’s 30 th Anniversary , we’ve spent the last year celebrating three decades of the iconic blue ‘bot, from his many original adventures featured in Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2, to the futuristic world of Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and 2, and beyond. An incredibly talented, veteran team has worked hard to bring Mega Man 11 to life, and this wouldn’t have happened without the many dedicated fans of Mega Man across the world. On behalf of everyone at Capcom, thank you for supporting our beloved Blue Bomber over the years!

Now settle in with your favorite platform, get playing, and keep fighting – for everlasting peace!
