Get ready to dive into the Demon Realm with Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection pre-orders starting now!

Jan 26, 2021 // Kellen Haney

Are you prepared to CHALLENGE AGAIN? You won’t have to wait long to take up your Lance and charge into the Demon Realm as Arthur on his latest rescue mission – Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection launches digitally on Nintendo Switch on February 25th! Hit the jump for all the latest on the legendary knight’s next adventure, including a new trailer complete with a few spooky surprises that are sure to delight long-time GnG fans.

Difficulties ‘n Dangers
There are a few things we can all agree on, no matter where we come from. The sky is blue, water is wet, and Ghosts ‘n Goblins games can be incredibly difficult. The original arcade game was known for being a “quarter-eater” back when it first released, and when the game was later brought to home consoles in the 8-bit era, it retained many of the sharp edges that made the original so darn difficult.

Fortunately, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection offers multiple difficulties for those who want to experience all the game has to offer! If you’re a returning player who doesn’t mind seeing Arthur reduced to a pile of bones over and over again in your quest for glory, the Legend difficulty mode is right up your alley. Offering the most challenging Ghosts ‘n Goblins experience, this difficulty throws down the gauntlet with a large number of enemies and tough encounters that will put your skills (and single layer of armor) to the test!

Turning down the heat with the Knight difficulty mode will give Arthur an extra hit point of armor, allowing him to retain some of his armor pieces and his pride before he’s fully reduced to his boxers, while the Squire difficulty mode provides a bit more breathing room by reducing the number of enemies as well. For little knights, those just learning how to play, those looking for a more relaxed experience, and for players of any type, Page mode provides Arthur with a blessing of eternal life, allowing the gallant knight to resurrect right on the spot should he fall in battle.

For those of you who forge your way through the entire game on the Legend, Knight, or Squire difficulty modes, a brand-new challenge awaits….

Shapes ‘n Shadows
A Ghosts ‘n Goblins game isn’t complete without a second loop, and Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is no exception to that rule. You may have seen it showcased in the trailer above, but every stage will have a “Shadow” version – a dark and sinister side to a zone you’ve conquered before. We don’t want to spoil the fun of discovering what these stages have to offer, but there’s far more to the shadows than a simple revisit. It will take all of your skills to survive each one, and promises to be the ultimate challenge for even the most seasoned knights!

Weapons ‘n… Warlocks?
Okay, okay, Arthur isn’t a warlock, that one was a bit of a stretch. However, you’ll have access to a wide variety of classic and new weapons that are sure to delight players of all styles. Arthur’s standard Lance returns, offering a good mix of range and power, while the Crossbow fires in a spread pattern, allowing you to target enemies that are just a bit above or below you. Spreading on contact with the ground, the Holy Water makes a return—wait, where are you going? Come back, the quick-flying Dagger is here, too! There are also some new weapons ready to mix things up – my personal favorite is getting up close and personal with the Hammer, a powerful short-range weapon that’s sure to re-bury any undead that pop out, while the new Spiked Ball rolls along the ground, crushing anything unfortunate enough to be caught in its path.

Magic also makes a return, of course! Rather than being tied to Arthur’s armor or the specific weapon he’s wielding, magic can be cast when it’s equipped to his aptly named Magic Waistband. You may remember Thunderstorm, which calls thunderbolts and lightning (very, very frightening), but it’s now joined by many other types of magic, including its earthy cousin, Emboulden. Unsurprisingly, this magic turns Arthur into a boulder. Rolling around at the speed of… a large rock… has its perks, causing Arthur to bowl over enemies – though you may have some trouble with platforming until you transform back. You can also turn enemies to stone, making them useful, if temporary, platforms, or even turn nearby foes into mostly harmless frogs with Transmogrifrog. It’s better when your adversaries croak but Arthur doesn’t, right?

Time ‘n Time Again
Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection will put all your skills to the test, and there are still a few more surprises in store. We hinted at one of those surprises at the end of the trailer above, too. Make no mistake, the game is running just as intended, but time can have a way of moving strangely in the world of Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection. Keep an eye on the Capcom USA Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram – we’ll have more to share soon, including developer videos that shed a bit more light on how this resurrection of a classic series came to be.

That’s all for now – if you’re ready to take the fight to the Demon Realm, you can pre-order Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection on Nintendo Switch starting today, and be ready to play the moment it’s available digitally on February 25th! Check out the official website for even more info. And don’t forget – Capcom Arcade Stadium is also on the way, bringing 32 arcade classics to Nintendo Switch in February! Check out all the details on the collection’s official website.

Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection and Capcom Arcade Stadium come to Nintendo Switch in February 2021!

Dec 11, 2020 // Kellen Haney

Announced at The Game Awards 2020, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection sees the return of the gallant knight, Arthur, as he embarks on a brand-new quest to rescue the princess from the devious Demon Realm! Plus, dozens of arcade classics make their return with a slew of new features in Capcom Arcade Stadium!

Ghouls, Ghosts, ‘n Goblins

There are few spots more idyllic than the hilltop looking out over the kingdom. It’s here that the noble princess and her gallant knight, Arthur, enjoy spending time together… but their time together is unexpectedly cut short when malicious monsters appear and take off with the princess! Taken by surprise and only able to watch as the princess is kidnapped to the Demon Realm, the chivalrous Arthur dons his armor and embarks on a quest to rescue the princess and save the day!

For over 35 years, Ghosts ‘n Goblins games have tested and delighted players with challenging gameplay, gigantic bosses, and a cast of familiar foes, including Zombies, Skeleton Murderers, Pigmen, and, of course, the infamous Red Arremer. This time around, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “side scroller.” With the story being presented on an in-game scroll of parchment, Arthur will run, jump, battle, and navigate his way across platforms, pits, and tricky terrain in a storybook-like world while he tries to keep his armor – and his honor – intact on his quest to save the princess.

Seasoned Knights need not worry; this is a brand-new take on the GnG you know and love. Filled with deadly enemies, devious traps, and delightful levels that will put your skills to the test Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection takes cues from both the original Ghosts ‘n Goblins as well as the sequel, Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, to create entirely new challenges. Knights of all kinds can bravely journey into the Demon Realm by selecting one of multiple difficulty modes, including Squire, Knight, and Legend. For new apprentices who are just learning to throw a lance, Page mode allows them to respawn on the spot with unlimited lives.

Arthur will have plenty of options to dispatch his enemies. Multiple familiar weapons make their return, including the classic Lance and the deadly Dagger, with new, unique weapons making their first appearance, including the crushing Hammer and fatal Spiked Ball. Magic returns, too, giving Arthur a variety of spells to unleash on his enemies, including the sizzling Firewall and the crackling Thunderstorm. Knights of all kinds will need to find the right combination of weapon, magic, and skills that works best for them if they wish to survive the perilous journey through the Demon Realm!

Insert Coin

The year is 199X. You just finished a bottle of clear cola. There are blacklights everywhere, and you can feel the crunch of the thin carpet – decorated with neon shapes and squiggles – beneath your tennis shoes. It’s your third attempt at impatiently jamming a $5 bill into the token machine, and you can barely hear the clicks and whirs of the bill (finally) being accepted over all the noise in the arcade. But a moment later, the ping of tokens spilling out greets your ears, and as you scoop each handful into your pockets, you look out over all the colorful cabinets and think… what am I going to play next?

Relive the heyday of arcades with Capcom Arcade Stadium, featuring 32 classics from the mid-1980s through the early 2000s! Start your tour with a free download of 1943 – The Battle of Midway –, or see where Arthur’s journey began with the stand-alone add-on of Ghosts ‘n Goblins. You can also grab your favorite games from three different arcade packs spanning multiple eras! Packs include 80’s nostalgia trips like BIONIC COMMANDO and STRIDER, and games that defined the 90’s arcade revolution – including SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO. Ready to go all-in on the classic arcade experience? You can grab all three packs of 10 games and the Ghosts ‘n Goblins stand-alone add-on at once with the “all-in” pack, and enjoy them all any time you want!

The full arcade experience is available to you, too, with lots of modern features on top of local co-op (up to four players for games that support it). Game Speed and Difficulty Level can be adjusted, allowing you to slow things down (or speed things up!) to your liking, while a Rewind feature allows you to run it back and try again if things don’t go quite as planned. For the ultimate nostalgia trip, additional Display Settings, Display Filters, and even various frames, including a variety of 3D-rendered arcade cabinets, can add a classic touch to the visuals.

For avid arcade players, we have even more in store: Playing games, earning in-game accomplishments, and completing challenges earns CASPO – think of it like a running score tracker, or experience points. As you accrue CASPO, you’ll earn new 2D and 3D frames to display in-game. Those looking to see how they stack up against the competition can claim their place on the online leaderboards in “Timed Challenge” and “Score Challenge” game modes for their favorite titles.

Are you ready to CHALLENGE AGAIN? Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection and Capcom Arcade Stadium both launch in February 2021 on Nintendo Switch!

Fatalis, the Legendary Black Dragon, storms into Monster Hunter World: Iceborne!

Oct 01, 2020 // Yuri Araujo

Hunters of the Fifth Fleet, it’s time to pay a visit to a historical site, and confront a living legend…

Fatalis, the Legendary Black Dragon

Passed down from generation to generation as just a legend, Fatalis is said to have wiped out an entire kingdom overnight. Such power and potential makes for very scary stories, but little evidence was ever made available. However, the Guild has now confirmed the return of this mythical Elder Dragon; it’s heading straight to Castle Schrade to finish what it had started.

Hunters, make sure you bring out your best gear and keep your wits about you venturing into this quest. Weapons from the castle’s last stand are still available—hopefully functional—and you’ll need all the help you can get to fend off the Legendary Black Dragon… and survive to tell the tales.

Version 15.01 Patch Notes

NOTE: Before you can take on the Special Assignment to hunt Fatalis, you must be MR 24 or higher, have completed at least the Safi’jiiva Recon Assignment, and have encountered Alatreon in its Special Assignment at least once.

Fall Seasonal Event – Fun Fright Fest

Our next seasonal event in Iceborne will be all about monsters. No, not the ones you hunt in Quests; we’re talking creatures of darkness… demons, succubi, and ghosts!

But don’t worry! These aren’t real. At least not in Astera or Seliana anyway. So we’re decking out the Seliana Gathering Hub with sinister new décor and tuning the music selection to “spooky.” We invite you to partake in the activities and, if you’re brave enough, try out our new seasonal food platter. Its nutritional value is a mystery worth the dare.

And as per tradition, we’ll feature a plethora of items to craft and collect: Armor Sets, Layered Armor, Weapon Pendants, Palico Gear, a Poogie Outfit and more!

Fun Fright Fest will run from October 16 until November 5 UTC.

Fun Fright Fest

Those who manage to vanquish this ruthless Elder Dragon will be awarded a special Weapon Pendant and materials to craft the versatile Velkhana γ (gamma) armor set.

Arch-Tempered Velkhana Event Quest will be live from October 16 UTC until November 5 UTC.

Arch-Tempered Velkhana

Clutch Claw Boost

With the arrival of new threats, Hunters must ready themselves as best as they can to stand a chance. And to help nudge the odds in your favor, we’re adding a new armor skill, called Clutch Claw Boost.

This handy new skill will allow heavy weapons (Great Sword, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Lance, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun) to also draw slinger ammo from monsters—similar to what light weapons are capable of doing—while tenderizing a monster’s hide with their Clutch Claw weapon attack.

Conversely, light weapons (Long Sword, Sword & Shield, Dual Blades, Gunlance, Insect Glaive, Light Bowgun, Bow) will also benefit from this skill by tenderizing monsters’ hides with a single Clutch Claw weapon attack, while also drawing slinger ammo.

Master Rank Layered Armor

Calling all Fashion Hunters! The feature you’ve been waiting for is finally here. As of this latest update, Master Rank armor sets will now be available to craft as Layered Armor! Some sets will be tied to upcoming Event Quest rewards, but most sets are now available for crafting, mixing and matching. Now’s your time to shine: go, and become the Master Fashion Hunters!

Elder Melder Decorations

Good news for Hunters looking for some rare Decorations: the Elder Melder will now be able to craft some especially elusive jewels:

  • Elementless Jewel 2
  • Shield Jewel 2
  • Sharp Jewel 2
  • Dragonseal Jewel 3
  • Mighty Bow Jewel 2
  • Mind’s Eye Jewel 2

PC / Steam – Street Fighter V Collaboration Quests

Here come new challengers! Ryu and Sakura make their way into the Steam version of Monster Hunter: World as Full Armor Sets and Layered Armor, part of special limited time Challenge Quests (special quests that take place in the Arena and offer you preset equipment choices). Fight hard and come out victorious in these quests to craft these fierce Full Armor Sets:

  • “Down the Dark, Muddy Path”
  • “Empress in Full Bloom” (I, II, III)
  • “The Awakened Satsui No Hado” (I, II, III)

And if you’re looking for Layered version of these outfits, you’ll want to complete these two Event Quests as well:

  • “When Blue Dust Surpasses Red Lust”
  • “The Heralds of Destruction Cry”

Street Fighter V Collaboration Challenge Quests will be available from October 1 UTC until November 5 UTC.

Challenge Quest – Empress in Full Bloom
Challenge Quest – The Awakened Satsui no Hado

Good luck, and may the Sapphire Star light your way!
