Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition combat overview – Lady

May 15, 2015 // GregaMan

Get a good look at the combat mechanics of Lady, one of the three new playable characters coming to  Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition when it drops for PS4, Xbox One, and PC this June 23rd. Lady is playable for the first time ever, and feels quite distinct from the other characters, thanks to her heavy emphasis on firearm-based combat.

Support the troops this weekend by gaming with the fourth annual 8-Bit Salute

May 15, 2015 // GregaMan

For several years now, Operation Supply Drop has been on a noble mission: to send video games and gaming hardware to troops stationed overseas. As I’m sure many of our own readers know, gaming can offer a valuable outlet for coping with depression and anxiety. It can also help alleviate the idle tension that often accompanies serving overseas.

Through OSD’s annual “8-Bit Salute” fundraiser, they and YOU have helped provide support to over 7,000 US and NATO troops. This year they aim to raise more money than ever for their cause, with a “high score” goal of $1,337,000 (see what they did there?).

For the unfamiliar, the 8-Bit Salute invites fellow gamers not only to donate, but also to recruit   donations from others by marathoning their favorite games during the event weekend. To participate is simple:

-Register at the 8-Bit Salute page. You can participate as an individual, or create or join a “team.” Or, if you don’t or can’t stream a game yourself, you can simply donate to the cause.

-If you will be participating in the marathon, ask your friends and family to sponsor you. They can make a monthly pledge or a one-time gift. OSD encourages each participant to have a goal of $200 in donations, which amounts to $20 from 10 people. PLUS if you register as ELITE for fifteen bucks, you get a snazzy commemorative T-shirt once you raise $200 on your personal page!

-The marathon commences May 16th 12:00CST through May 17th 12:00CST. Have a seat (or stand) and play games on May 16th and/or 17th and see how long you can hold out and how much you can raise for the troops!

WHO IT BENEFITS:  8-Bit Salute benefits active duty members of the military and veterans who have served the US and NATO allies. Learn more about the successful OSD programs here and read the most up-to-date news here.

Thanks for supporting, and have a game-filled weekend!

Graduates tip hats to Monster Hunter

May 14, 2015 // Yuri Araujo

You know that feeling when you’re hunting a mighty beast; you’re low on health, stamina and resources, time is running out… Yet, you still manage to pull through and the triumphant “Quest Complete” music comes on; a huge sigh of relief is released.

Well, don’t you think that sounds oddly similar to finishing up school/college?  This graduating hunting party certainly seems to think so, as they adorned their mortar boards with the Quest Complete stamp.

And as is the tradition at the end of each quest… here are some gestures:

Relaxing Kick Back

Well-done hunters, congratulations! Now you’re ready for G-Rank ! Good luck! =)

DmC: DE Style Tournament – Round 4 Results, Final Round Rules

May 08, 2015 // GregaMan

It’s been fun watching everybody’s great combo submissions these last few weeks, but the time has come for the Final Round. Brace yourselves for the Round 4 results, including the naming of our fourth Finalist, alongside the rules for the Final Round.

Okay guys, here it is. This week’s Finalist slot goes to Zeno Xyvorean, who secured 38% of the voting pool, with michellegun201 and Kosdestroy101 tying for second place with 22% of the vote each. Mariotaz came in third with an approximate 12% vote. Congrats, Zeno! We’re looking forward to your participation in the Final Round.

Final Round
Our four Finalists will face off in one final, freestyle showdown.

To recap, our four Finalists, as determined by popular vote, are:

Round 1 – Kyosuke
Round 2 – MA16v3
Round 3 – SteeleSerpent
Round 4 – Zeno Xyvorean

Rules:
General rules from previous rounds apply, EXCEPT:

-This round is only open to our four Finalists.

-Each Finalist must submit TWO video clips—one for Dante and One for Vergil.

-Each player is free to choose the difficulty, gameplay modifiers (Turbo Mode, Hardcore Mode, Must Style, Super Dante/Vergil), Mission, and fight.

-As before, each clip must be under sixty seconds. To be clear though, that’s sixty seconds EACH, not total.

Submission:
As with all previous rounds, please submit your YouTube video links via email at contest@capcom.com OR via Twitter using #DmCStyle.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Monday, May 18 th at 12pm (noon) PT. Yes, that means this round is a week longer than previous rounds.

Voting and Prizing:
The voting period will begin shortly after the submission deadline. We will present two polls—one for Dante and one for Vergil. The community will vote for their favorite Dante submission and their favorite Vergil submission. After the voting deadline, all votes will be tallied, and the Finalist with the most total votes will be declared the Grand Prize Winner!

In the unlikely event of a tie, the tie will be broken by random number generator.

The Grand Prize Winner will receive an autographed copy of the Japanese limited edition of Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition (PS4 version). Awesome.

This round is our Finalists’ chance to show us their best, and we can’t wait to see what that looks like. Give it your best shot, and may the most stylish player win!
