Capcom is bringing hunting and horror to San Diego Comic-Con 2019

Jul 11, 2019 // Kellen Haney

San Diego Comic-Con 2019 starts in just a few days, and Capcom will be bringing the latest and greatest for attendees to check out! It’s going to be hot out there this summer, but you’ll be able to stay cool with Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and lots more at the Capcom booth (#215, Hall A).

DEMOS

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC)
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the massive expansion for the smash hit Monster Hunter: World, drops September 6 th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the PC version coming this winter! If you haven’t had the chance to get your hands on Iceborne ’s new locale via the online betas, swing over to the Capcom booth and join three other hunters to take on chilling quests against fearsome monsters. The two main quests featured at SDCC are “Hunt a Banbaro” and “Hunt a Tigrex,” both taking place in the all-new, expansive tundra of Hoarfrost Reach. Banbaro, a brand new monster for Iceborne , is capable of picking up a variety of objects from the environment (such as boulders and trees) and bulldozing them around with attacks that change in size depending on what been caught up in its horns. For seasoned veterans, the relentless Tigrex makes its return, ready to hit hunters with the full force of a runaway train. Don’t forget your Hot Drinks as you explore – you’ll need them to survive the chilly landscape, and you don’t want to run out of stamina against these fearsome foes.

Once you’ve finished your quest, be sure to take a picture with the adorable Palico stationed at the booth! It may be unseasonably dressed for summertime, but it’s perfectly equipped for exploring the frigid Hoarfrost Reach when Iceborne releases on September 6 th . If you can’t wait to get into the action, Monster Hunter: World is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You’ll need to finish the main story to get access to the new story, area, and monsters, so now is a great time to get started – or dive back in – and get ready for the expansion!

Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 (Nintendo Switch)

Announced at E3 earlier this year, Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 are coming to Nintendo Switch! Marking the first time both of these games are available on a mobile platform, these survival horror titles can be taken for a spin on Nintendo Switch at SDCC. Both games will include all previously released DLC when they release this fall on Nintendo Switch, making it a great time to check out these classics if you missed them the first time around, or just want some co-op play on-the-go.

Highly regarded for its co-op gameplay, Resident Evil 5 puts you in the boots of Chris Redfield and Sheva Alomar, a pair of highly trained B.S.A.A. agents seeking to prevent the sale of a bio-organic weapon and uncovering a much larger plot as a result.

Resident Evil 6 follows various interconnected stories, bringing together fan-favorite characters such as Leon S. Kennedy and newcomers like Helena Harper. Travel the world and play each story solo or with a friend to unravel the full picture behind a sinister conspiracy that threatens the entire world. Both games will include all previously released DLC when they release later this year on Nintendo Switch, making it a great time to check out these favorites if you’re looking for co-op on-the-go or missed them the first time around.

Get the hottest details on Glavenus, new Gathering Hub, and more in the MHW: Iceborne Developer Diary #1

Jul 11, 2019 // Yuri Araujo

Last month we dropped a bunch of cool Iceborne news, but also left you with some hints and teasers of what’s to come… now it’s time to pull back the curtains (or slash them in half) with some hot details on returning fan-favorite Glavenus, new subspecies Fulgur Anjanath and Ebony Odogaron, new and improved Gathering Hub features, the Squad Card system, and more. First, let’s take a look at the latest trailer that’s hot off the presses:

Okay, so I know you’re screaming at that Glavenus turf war—I wasn’t expecting anything like that either!—but we actually have a lot more to cover today, so take a deep breath and get ready for the spicy details.

I’ll leave you in the more than capable hands of developers Ryozo Tsujimoto, Kaname Fujioka and Daisuke Ichihara for a full Developer Diary video. If you’re looking for a quick digest on the new info, just check the list below the video.

New and improved Gathering Hub – the new hub of Seliana streamlines the flow of meeting up with other players and tending to all your pre-hunt necessities by adding quick access to facilities like the Smithy, Resource Center, Botanical Research Center, and Argosy.

Squad Cards and Sub-Leaders – new Squad functionality has been added to easily invite your friends and manage Squad members.

Customizing your new room – now you can change up furniture, various décor items, and even the wall texture of “Your Room” for a more personal touch! And… we’re planning to add a feature that allows you to invite friends to your room, in a post-launch update.

Meet the monsters – you’ll really want to watch the video for this one. The development team put a lot of thought into bringing back Glavenus as faithfully as possible, keeping its sword-like tail while giving it some new twists. They also show off extended gameplay of two newly confirmed subspecies—monster species that have evolved in different ways to adapt to new circumstances, often times gaining new elemental affinities and behavior tendencies. On the menu today, we have the electrifying Fulgur Anjanath and the more vicious than ever Ebony Odogaron!

As Ryozo-san mentioned in the video, we’ll have more info to share in August, but if you’re itching for more Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, be sure to come to San Diego Comic Con next week to play our demo and attend our Monster Hunter panel for more behind-the-scenes info! Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will release globally on PS4 and Xbox One on September 6, with a PC version coming this winter.

North America Regional Finals and Capcom Cup 2019 Details Announced

Jun 30, 2019 // Mike Larson

Hello World Warriors!

The 2019 Capcom Pro Tour season has been one of the most competitive in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition yet and we’re excited to announce dates and details for the North American Regional Finals and Capcom Cup 2019.

This year’s NA Regional Finals takes place on November 16-17 at the HyperX Esports Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Don’t forget, is the final of three all-new Super Premier Events introduced to CPT 2019.

The event will feature the open tournament, where players from all regions can compete for one last attempt at Global Leaderboard Points in order to qualify for Capcom Cup 2019. As has been tradition these last few years, eight of the top players from the North America region will compete for one of the final coveted Capcom Cup 2019 qualifying spots in the Regional Finals.

Capcom Cup 2019 returns to Southern California for three days of the best SFV:AE competition in the world on December 13-15. The Last Chance Qualifier returns to determine the final qualifying spot for Capcom Cup. From there, 32 of the best SFV:AE players in the world will battle it out in Los Angeles to be crowned the 2019 Capcom Cup Champion.

That’s not all. For the first time ever, we will be hosting the Street Fighter League World Finals. The champions of Street Fighter League: Pro-US 2019 and Street Fighter League: Pro-Japan 2019 will face off at Capcom Cup to determine which team is the best in the world!

Registration for both NA Regional Finals and Capcom Cup 2019 LCQ will open soon. Make sure you follow Capcom Fighters on  Twitter for  news  and updates.

New features to try out in the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Beta on PS4

Jun 28, 2019 // Yuri Araujo

Greetings hunters, and welcome to round 2 of the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Beta on PlayStation 4! This one is open to all PS4 players, so if you missed the first round last weekend this is your chance to test your mettle against newcomer Banbaro, returning fan-favorite Tigrex, or even the Great Jagras. And that’s not to mention all the other encounters you’ll have as you explore Hoarfrost Reach, the game’s new icy locale!

Anyways, let’s take a quick moment to review some of the cool features you’ll get to try out in this Beta:

Training Area – Before you head out on a hunt, visit the Training Area to practice some of the new combat features we’ve added in Iceborne (more info ahead). You can talk to the Housekeeper to change up the objects in the Training Area and practice your new Clutch Claw moves too!

3 Quests x 3 Difficulties – As you may know, you’ll get to take on three separate quests in this Beta: Great Jagras (beginner), Banbaro (intermediate), and Tigrex (advanced). But did you know… there are also 3 separate difficulty settings? These depend on your party formation, and scale whether you’re hunting solo, as a pair, or as a group of 3 or 4 hunters. In Monster Hunter: World, I played a great deal of quests in a pair, so I really welcome this change. If you try out a 2-player hunt, let us know how you liked it!

New Combat Options – Between the addition of the Clutch Claw, and the new moves and tweaks bestowed upon all 14 weapon types, the amount of strategies and possibilities have increased tremendously. Pick up your favorite weapon, or try a new one, and get ready for fresh new combos and tactics.

Raider Rides – In Monster Hunter: World, your Palico could learn how to talk to talk to certain native creatures, like Jagras, and get them to join you in battle. In Iceborne , YOU also get to practice some monster-speak and earn some sweet rides across each map! These little fellas will take you around, following monsters’ tracks or you can pin a destination on the map, sit back, take a Hot Drink and enjoy the ride.

That about sums it up for this round. If you want a few more nuggets of wisdom, check out the 8 Cool Things You Can Do in the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Beta for PS4 blog post on the PlayStation Blog. Otherwise, enjoy the Beta (live until 3am PDT / 6am EDT on July 1 st ) and let us know what you think of the new features!

The Wright Anything Competition is Putting You on the Stand!

Jun 21, 2019 // Kellen Haney

Have you dreamed of putting on your best blue suit and taking that first step behind the defense’s bench? When a creative mood strikes you, do you think of courtroom sketches? Have you ever wanted to make a dramatic re-creation for the court? Good news, because court is now in session – we’re kicking off the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy “Wright Anything” Competition for fans throughout the Americas in celebration of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy! Read on for how you can enter and the prizes you can win – including some unique prizes you can’t get anywhere else!

If it pleases the court, we’ll tell you how to enter first! We’re looking for your best and most creative representation of the mainline Ace Attorney games, divided into three categories: Artwork, Cosplay, and Video. You only get one entry, so pick one of the below that suits your skills the best:

  • Artwork – A digital or traditional drawing, illustration, painting, sculpture, 3D model, or a similar technique. Draw your favorite character, come up with a new scene featuring Wright and Co., create a one-page comic; whatever gets your pencil, pen, or other tools of the trade moving!
  • Cosplay – Channel your inner spirit medium or dress like your favorite prosecutor, defense attorney, assistant, witness, or… Moe the Clown? Anything goes as long as it’s you!
  • Video – Put on a play, give us a dramatic reading of your favorite ladder vs. stepladder argument, sing a song, saddle someone with unnecessary feelings, or whatever else you can get under 60 seconds!

Once you’re done with your artwork, cosplay photo(s), or video, post it to your Twitter account with the hashtag “#AATWrightAnything” to enter. That’s it! Be sure your account is visible to the public so we can see it, too. A panel of Capcom judges will be picking our favorites based on what we think are the most fun and creative entries, so give it everything you’ve got! For additional info on how to enter, please refer to the competition rules. Please note that this competition is only available to residents of North, Central, and South America.

A couple of notes: For artwork and video, if your entry has been entered into another contest or posted somewhere else, it may be disqualified. You’ll need to create something new for this contest! For cosplay, we only require new pictures that haven’t been uploaded or displayed elsewhere before the contest – we won’t ask you to make a brand-new costume.

When we say “mainline” games, we’re talking about Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Justice for All, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Trials and Tribulations, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice. Entries from other games are appreciated, but are outside the scope of this contest and may be disqualified.

So now that you know how to enter, you probably want to know what you can win, right? Glad you asked! We have some very special prizes! We’ll be selecting both three Grand Prize winners and three Runner-up Prize winners, with one Grand Prize winner and one Runner-up Prize winner for each category above (Artwork, Cosplay, and Video).

Grand Prize: A shikishi (Japanese signature board) signed by Shu Takumi and a Gyakuten Saiban Orchestra Concert 2019 photo frame! These photo frames are typically only available by attending the concert in person in Japan. Perfect as part of a display or for displaying a photograph of your own!

Runner-up Prize: A shikishi (Japanese signature board) signed by Shu Takumi, and a prize pack including items from the Ace Attorney anime, including a randomly selected blind box keychain and either a hand towel or a mug, chosen at random.

Mr. Takumi was kind enough to not only provide his signature, but also include an illustration of Phoenix himself – a perfect way to celebrate Phoenix’s early adventures by the person who made it all come together. Huh… that artwork kind of reminds you of a certain calling card, doesn’t it?

The contest starts today, Friday, June 21st and ends on Friday, July 5th at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Greenhorn attorneys, seasoned veterans, and everyone in between are all welcome to enter and show their stuff, and we can’t wait to see what you all come up with! We’ll have a follow-up blog to showcase the winners in the future after they’ve been selected, so keep an eye out for what’s to come! You can view the full contest rules at this link, so please be sure to read over all the specifics before entering. Best of luck, and we’ll see you on the stand!

Debuting in Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, the nighttime version of this classic stage has been beautifully re-created for SFV players and will be available for purchase starting on June 25th for just MSRP $1.99 or 40K Fight Money.

LAURA SWIMSUIT COSTUME 2

Summer is almost here and Laura is ready to hit the beach in style! Her new Swimsuit Costume including stunner shades and a breezy robe will be available for purchase starting on June 25th for MSRP $3.99.

In case Sagat’s Shade costume wasn’t enough, we’ve got even more Cyberbots coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition! Menat is up next, as she dons an all-new Princess Devilotte costume, inspired by the character from Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness. In addition to her new royal garbs, Menat’s crystal ball also gets a makeover by turning into Super-8, Devilotte’s octopus-shaped robot that can be controlled by the “the real queen of evil” herself.

Menat can transform into Devilotte Princess soon, as this new costume and accompanying soundtrack appear in Extra Battle mode from July 5th through August 2nd.

IBUKI EXTRA BATTLE (AKANE YAGYU)

Jun 04, 2019 // Yuri Araujo

E3 2019 is officially less than one week away, so it’s time to set the stage for all the exciting and fun activities you can expect from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Capcom this year at booth #2323 in South Hall.

Before we start, I just wanted to remind you to keep your eyes peeled for more news and updates from us as we get closer to E3. As you’ll see below, we’re leaving some stuff out… it’s really exciting stuff, but we can’t share it just yet, so stay tuned!

UPDATE: our mystery live stream for June 12th has been revealed: UpUpDownDown plays MHW: Iceborne with Ryozo Tsujimoto and Kaname Fujioka, feat. WWE® Superstars Asuka™ and Xavier Woods®. Scroll down for more info.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Story Trailer

Let’s start with Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Our newest trailer highlights the story, and starts to unveil some of the mysteries hidden beneath layers of ice and snow, while leaving us with even more questions about this new land and the mythical Velkhana.

Have you started piecing things together? Got any theories so far?

Also, how do you like the New World version of Tigrex? Feeling ready to face its relentless barrage of attacks…?

E3 2019 Demos

Well, if you’re attending E3 2019, you’ll get a chance to test your strength and skills against this fierce foe!

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is the star of our E3 booth this year, so we’re bringing a monstrous amount of multiplayer demo stations to give as many players as possible a chance to get their hands on the game. The two new main quests featured this time are “Hunt a Banbaro” and “Hunt a Tigrex,” both taking place in the expansive Hoarfrost Reach. Banbaro is a brand new monster capable of picking up a variety of elements of the environment (boulders… trees…) and bulldozing them around with attacks that change in size depending on the object. And Tigrex is just… unyielding!

They’re both forces to be reckoned with in their own right, so start brushing up on the latest Clutch Claw tech and new features revealed for every weapon type with this handy playlist:

Resident Evil 0, 1, and 4 are out now for Nintendo Switch

May 21, 2019 // Kellen Haney

Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil, and Resident Evil 4 are out now for Nintendo Switch! Enjoy all three survival horror classics anywhere for $29.99 each, from the comfort of your own personal mansion to wherever you may go. How does a train ride through the European countryside sound?

It all began with a series of bizarre incidents in the Arklay Mountains… or so everyone thought. A prelude to the game that started it all, Resident Evil 0 chronicles the events that unfolded before the incident in the Spencer Mansion. Join S.T.A.R.S. medic Rebecca Chambers and escaped convict Billy Coen as they join forces and investigate a cryptic train known as the Ecliptic Express. Swapping between characters on the fly, you’ll have to learn to work together with your partner to survive the night on this crazy train! All previously released DLC is included, too, with extra costumes for both Rebecca and Billy that allow you to play in style, and the unique Wesker Mode which replaces Billy with series antagonist Albert Wesker, complete with a host of powerful abilities.

Where one nightmare ends, a new one begins. As S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team investigates the Arklay Mansion on the outskirts of Raccoon City, they soon find the sinister truth behind the strange occurrences and mutilated bodies they were sent to investigate. In Resident Evil, the remake of the survival horror classic, take control of series mainstays Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine as they search the Spencer mansion for a way to escape, and stumble upon a conspiracy involving the Umbrella Corporation. First released on the Nintendo Gamecube, this version of Resident Evil also introduced a new type of enemy not present in the original: deadly Crimson Head variants that could mutate from defeated zombies, adding a whole new layer of terror to keep you guessing at what lurks around every corner.

Set several years after the fall of the Umbrella Corporation, Resident Evil 4 sees Leon S. Kennedy dispatched to the European countryside in search of Ashley Graham, the President’s daughter. It soon comes to light that this is no simple kidnapping, as Leon and Ashley come face to face with the demented cult known as “Los Illuminados.” One of the most beloved Resident Evil games of all time, take control of Leon in a variety of unique locations. Fight your way out of an ugly situation to rescue Ashley, escape the cult, and uncover a deeper mystery that runs beneath it all.

All three games are available now on the Nintendo eShop for $29.99 each! In addition, a special combo pack, Resident Evil Origins Collection, is also available at retail in North America for $59.99, which includes a cartridge for Resident Evil 0 and a digital download code for Resident Evil. Grab your horror to go with all three games available now on Nintendo Switch!

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne release date, new monsters, new story and features revealed

May 09, 2019 // Yuri Araujo

Get your Hot Drinks ready and brace yourselves for an avalanche of new info on Monster Hunter World: Iceborne !

Heads up: all the info listed here was revealed just moments ago in our special Spring Update stream, so if you want to hear it straight from our developers in Japan and catch some new gameplay footage with it, watch it here:

Alright, let’s start with one of the most important questions that has been on everyone’s mind: “when is the release date?”

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 6, 2019, and will launch on PC / Steam this winter!

The second burning question you’re all probably wondering is, “how much content is packed into Iceborne?”

This isn’t just your average expansion. In fact, we can tell you that the volume of gameplay content in Iceborne will rival that of Monster Hunter: World, with even more quests to face this time around!

Speaking of the base game, if you already own World , you’ll only need to purchase the Iceborne expansion digitally. And for players that do not own World , we’repreparing an all-in package that includes both World and Iceborne called Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Master Edition—a full breakdown can be found towards the end of this blog. Pre-order links are available from today, and as a bonus, everyone who pre-orders the game will get the Yukumo layered armor set!

With all that in mind, let’s take a closer look at all the new content Iceborne has in store for us—new monsters, new storyline, new gameplay features, etc.—so if you want to keep everything a surprise, this is your cue to stop reading, and scroll all the way down for product options and availability.

Alright, still with us and ready for that sweet breakdown of the new stuff? Cool! Let’s watch that trailer one more time:

New Story

The story of Iceborne starts after the conclusion of the events tied to the end of World with the Elder Crossing phenomena, as the Research Commission begins to notice very unusual Legiana behavior in the New World. This new mystery is the catalyst for a whole new story chapter that leads us to a brand new locale, and the discovery that the legendary Velkhana is way more than just a myth…

New Environment

Chasing this mystery leads us to a remote part of the New World, a land of extreme conditions where the cold is so intense you’ll need to outfit yourself with specific gear and items to keep warm during your hunts. Enter the Hoarfrost Reach .

Despite being such a harsh environment, it is actually full of energy and life. From small endemic life like Rime Beetles, to fierce new monsters like the predatory Beotodus and the brutish Banbaro , you’ll have plenty to explore, discover and hunt! I’ll leave you with this fun fact about the environment: Iceborne is set to offer the largest region in World so far.

Expanded Gameplay

As new threats make their debut, and returning fan favorite monsters—like the sleek Nargacuga —pop up in the New World, the Research Commission has workshopped a hefty upgrade to your Slinger so you can keep up with these new challenges. This new and improved version of the Slinger will be available to all Iceborne players (even if you’re still going through the World story) and adds a couple of key features:

#1. The Slinger can now be used while your weapon is drawn! This will open up a variety of opportunities for dealing with monsters, setting up new powerful combo attacks, getting out of harm’s way, etc.

#2. Clutch Claw: a versatile tool that lets you grapple onto monsters at a moment’s notice. From there you’ll also be able to unleash devastating attacks or even directly guide the monster momentarily.

You can watch all of this in action (and more!) in our special Spring Update , hosted by producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and directors Kaname Fujioka, Yuya Tokuda and Daisuke Ichihara. I can’t wait to see all the new hunting strategies you create with these added gameplay options.

Monster Hunter: World Free Trial (PS4) and Arch-Tempered Nergigante (PS4/Xbox One)

May 09, 2019 // Yuri Araujo

Monster Hunter: World is getting a massive expansion DLC called Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on September 6, 2019 (PS4, Xbox One) with the PC version coming this winter. So for those of you who haven’t experienced World yet, we wanted to invite you to try out MH: World for free with our limited time trial on PlayStation 4.

We also want to invite the best hunters already playing World out there to take on our toughest challenge yet: Arch-Tempered Nergigante!

FREE TRIAL (PS4)

Available starting today, the MH: World free trial on PS4 will be live today through May 20 th and will feature content straight from the full game, up until the completion of the Tobi-Kadachi assignment quest at Hunter Rank 4.

You’ll be able to start your journey, create your Hunter and Palico companion, and access all the features the game has to offer up until that point in the story (HR4). This means you’ll also be able to play with other hunters online, and even partake in the Spring Blossom Fest, one our many seasonal events.

Also, let’s not underestimate the amount of content packed into those early missions. You’ll get to explore two ample environments, each with a variety of monsters to hunt, vistas to take in, endemic life to discover, lots of gear to craft, 14 different weapon types to try out and Palico gear. And once you’ve decided to convert to the full game (which is current on sale for just $19.99 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One digital stores, btw!), your entire progress will carry over so you can pick up exactly where you left off in the free trial.

ARCH-TEMPERED NERGIGANTE (PS4/Xbox One; coming to PC at a later date)

So you’re a current Hunter who is tough as nails and capable of tackling any challenge the New World throws your way…

You live for the nerve-wrecking tension of barely making it out alive after gruesome battles with monsters…

And you seek the ultimate trophy: to embody your fallen prey, becoming even stronger while showing it off to everyone…

Well, we’re throwing down the gauntlet on May 11 th , as the Arch-Tempered Nergigante Event Quest goes live on Monster Hunter: World. This quest has been a long time coming, and for good reason. The development team worked really hard to make this a special challenge; one that will remind you of when you first fought Nergigante during one of our Beta tests, or perhaps even the first time fighting him in the game.

I hope you’re ready…

So whether you’re brand new or a seasoned hunter, we have very exciting things for you to try in MH: World. And for the latest info on Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, be sure to follow @MonsterHunter on  Twitter  and  Facebook , and keep an eye out for more news at E3 2019 !

Happy hunting!
