Capcom Store deals at SDCC 2014

Jul 18, 2014 // Minish Capcom

In addition to playable demos, panels and signings, our SDCC booth (215) will also once again house the Capcom Store, which is debuting some new items plus a few favorites from last year…

First up is the perfect companion piece to last year’s MM25th light-up statue – his iconic helmet! Made out of Chrome Resin, it’s the same size as the MM25th statue, similar base and features the same USB-powered light LED features.

Plus, we updated the technology to feature induction power so it lights up easier and brighter by just placing the helmet on the post. Standing at about 10″ tall and 5″ wide, this collectible will be sure to stand our prominently, especially when you turn on the lights. There’s a very limited number of the red/white alternate helmet. This item will be available at other major shows through the rest of this year, but if you’re at SDCC be sure to get this early in the show so as not to be disappointed by sell-outs later.  ($80)

PLUS: In conjunction with our good friends at Archie (who publish the incredible Mega Man comic book series) we are placing two “Golden Tickets” inside the special Mega Man #37 SDCC cover variant that will be sold at both the Archie Booth and at the Capcom Store. If you’re lucky enough to get the Golden Ticket, you win one of these Mega Man Replica Helmets!

SDCC will also be your chance to pick up the Mega Man denim jacket by Volante Designs. Those who pre-ordered should see theirs in the mail before the end of the month, but if you missed out and want to grab one before they’re gone… this is it!  ($200)

After playing MH4U and posing with the Gore Magala, swing by the Capcom Store to nab these exclusive Rathian and Yian Kut-Ku plushies! Like the helmet this is a limited item so try to arrive early in the day… or hit us up at another show later on 😛  ($20 each)

Plus monsters not your thing? Maybe consider a cutesy take on Chun Li, Ryu or Ken, who will debut at SDCC and – like everything else – are limited and likely to sell out!  ($20 each)

SF Assassin’s Fist fans can pick up apparel based on the series  and  meet members of the cast either at our panel or daily signings . And if you haven’t seen the series on Machinima / YouTube … well uh go do that.

For those interested in the physical edition of Ultra Street Fighter IV, you can pre-order that or the PC digital version ( via Amazon ) right in our booth and get this poster as a timeless reminder of that time you bought a game on a convention floor.

Last year, our high-end Resident Evil Umbrella watch sold out quickly. This year, we’re following it up with an exclusive Shadaloo Street Fighter watch, which, like the RE watch, is a quality fashion item is made of stainless steel, features a leather band, water resistant to 10M, comes in a plush collector’s case and each one is individually numbered. This is also sure to be another sell-out, so be sure to come by the booth early.  ($250)

But let’s say you can’t make it to SDCC this year. To ease the pain we’re offering a 15% discount on Capcom Store orders over $50 now through August 3,2014. Hit up the Capcom Store for our current lineup of items, and also keep your eyes peeled for the other major shows this year for another chance at these exclusive SDCC items.

See you at the show!

How to train your Felyne in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

Jul 17, 2014 // Yuri Araujo

Ah… Felynes, they’re so cute and goofy… and with proper training , they’re so useful and deadly! Here are some simple tips for training your Felyne in  Monster Hunter Freedom Unite :

First of all, choose your Felyne very carefully. You don’t want to end up with a Felyne that doesn’t attack… or maybe you do; so make sure to check their Attack Preference listing for that. And to go with that, keep in mind their Attack Type (could be Slash, which can cut tails, or Strike, which can KO monsters) as well as their Temperament.

After you hire your trusty companion, you’re going to want to select one of 6 Active Training Exercises from the Felyne board. These will take effect while your Felyne is not questing, so they’re great for ( online ) multiplayer sections!

Hand to Hand simulates actual battle, so your Felyne will get more experience points, speeding up the leveling process. Pretty useful for unlocking skills that require a certain level.

Dumbbells are a great arm workout; stronger arms mean they punch harder! In other words, the Felyne gains more attack power the more you have it in this routine.

Sit-ups will give your cat a much needed 6-pack, so it can look great on a beach date withstand more enemy attacks! Good defense is important. It’s no use having a super strong Felyne that faints after 1 hit, is it?

BTW, I’ve made more GIFs here!

Forms is probably the way to go if you want a mix of both attack AND defense. The stats increase rather slowly though, so please be patient. =)

Meditation is a very important training routine since it gives your Felyne more precious Comrade points than usual, which you can gather up and exchange for valuable hunting skills, such as Bomb Strength Up, Health Flute, Demon Flute, etc.

And then, there’s  Rest , which is just giving your Felyne a bit of a break… and they loooooooove a good break. So you have them rest, and they’ll love you, and that affects gameplay.

You see the stat labeled  Fondness ? Your Felyne will build that up faster if you have it resting, and there are certain skills that you’ll only unluck at 4 hearts! So yeah, love is a key ingredient in  Monster Hunter . The more you know.

But hey, if you want more in-depth info and a complete list of skills and options, I definitely recommend this page on the  Monster Hunter Wikia . They have  everything !

PS: How are you training your Felyne? I’m having mine focus on Attack right now.

Monster Hunter Tetsucabra cosplay looking really fierce!

Jul 16, 2014 // Yuri Araujo

Remember  Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate ‘s Tetsucabra ? Here’s a quick look at the female blademaster armor set, in real life!

Kuma Cosplay worked really hard on this and the results are simply amazing! I’ll share some pictures below, but if you want to get the full idea how much work goes into making a Monster Hunter armor cosplay, you check out this album containing pictures of this equipment set in various stages of the development process; like this one:

Pretty cool, right? Again, lots more pictures  here .

Look at all the colors!

Amazing, right? I wish I had seen this in person, but just as a heads-up to our European hunters, she showed up at this year’s Japan Expo in Paris, France. So look out for her in future events maybe?

A little LTTP here, but in case you missed the recent videos of legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross shouting over classic game footage, here they are in one post.

WWE knowledge not really required, but if you know where the clips come from you’ll prolly get a little extra kick outta them.

Naturally there are multiple games from multiple publishers in there, but we also get Resident Evil, RE4, Street Fighter IV and Remember Me.

Expect some salty Attitude-era language!

How Monster Hunter monsters are made

Jul 15, 2014 // Yuri Araujo

Ever wonder how  Monster Hunter  monsters are created? I know I do every time a new awesome design pops up. Well, lucky for us, the folks at Kotaku UK sat down with series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and talked about some of their general approach to creating the main stars of the game.

You can read the full article here , but I just wanted to share one of my favorite parts:

“Each monster has its own team of planners who determine how it’s going to move and how it’s going to attack and act, and you can see their personalities come through,” says Tsujimoto. “They’re all going to behave a little differently depending on the team that made them. That doesn’t just happen with visual design, but with gameplay design too.”

So how do you like that? “Each monster has its own team of planners”!!

You might also notice how the article contains pages from the  Monster Hunter Illustration books; if you didn’t already know this, Udon Entertainment translated and published both of them, so if you like reading design insights, you definitely get both of them. Here are some links for ya:
