Zeku, the Ever-Changing Ninja, infiltrates Street Fighter V on October 24!

Oct 16, 2017 // Andy Wong

Zeku, the last character in Season 2, will officially leap into Street Fighter V on October 24! Learn more about the Ever-Changing after the jump.

First seen in Street Fighter Alpha 2, Zeku was Guy’s former teacher, who taught him to master Bushinryu, a style of ninjutsu. Eventually, Guy was able to obtain the title of 39 th Master of Bushinryu. Zeku then disappeared and was never seen again…until now! Zeku has reappeared looking to start his own ninja group and find a new fighting style.

His younger version sure looks familiar!

For players who want to learn the art of Zeku, it will require intense training to hone his multiple skill sets due to his ability to transform. His older self has slower moves and a special flip in the air, which can be followed up with different options to keep the opponent guessing. His younger self is quicker and has a short run, which can also open up opponents.

V-Skill: Fukuro (Older Self), Tenpo Kari (Younger Self)

Zeku performs a special technique that transforms him to his younger self, completely changing his move set. He can then use Tenpo Kari to transform back. Depending on the directional input you press after the V-Skill connects, Zeku will teleport either in front or behind the opponent.

V-Trigger: Bushinryu Shinge Kiko

Allows Zeku to perform a single special dash that can be followed up with a custom combo that deals additional hits. Both forms have the same V-Trigger.

Critical Art: Batsuzan Gaisei

Upon kicking the opponent in the air, Zeku follows up with a flurry of strikes while switching forms before stomping them into the ground. Zeku’s Critical Art is the same for both forms.

Coming alongside Zeku on October 24 are his Story, Battle, and Nostalgia Costumes as seen below:

The Season 2 Character Pass is available for $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99 and will grant pass holders with Akuma, Kolin, Ed, Abigail, Menat, and Zeku! The pass includes Premium Battle Costumes with colors 3-10 unlocked and default costume colors 3-10 for each character. Season 2 Character Pass holders will also receive an exclusive PS4 theme!

We have a patch coming for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite to fix a few major bugs with certain characters and mechanics. Continue on to read the patch notes for the update on October 16.

General (These changes will go live on PS4 and PC on October 16 and on Xbox One at a later date)

  • When an opponent has been hit by three special “grab” projectiles in a single combo, they will automatically be affected by a spiral hit stun, causing them to be invincible and sent into the air. Players can also counter tag out of these attacks.
    • Affected moves:
      • Spider-Man – LP/HP Web Ball (including air versions)
      • Frank – LK/HK Hammer Throw
  • Can perform air recovery in eight directions when recovering from certain unique hits in the air.
    • Affected moves:
      • Dante – Bee Hive
      • Chun-Li – Spinning Bird Kick (including air version), Kikosho, Hoyokusen
      • Chris – Sweep Combo
      • Doctor Strange – Bolts of Balthakk
  • Fixed a bug that made it impossible to block during the last frame of crouching block recovery.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a connection error to occur when continuously performing successful grabs in an online match.
  • Increased throw invincibility during air recovery from 3F to 5F.
  • Fixed comboing into another combo using the Mind Surge throw.

Characters (These changes will go live across all platforms in the update on October 16)

Dante

  • Fixed a bug when taking damage during Tempest that caused Dante’s position to change from the location where he took that damage.

Captain America

  • Fixed bug(s) so that properties of moves without the shield match those with the shield. (ex: forward jumping during forward ground dash without the shield did not have dash momentum)
  • Fixed a bug causing backflip (without shield) to be invincible from start up.
  • Fixed a bug that caused his back ground throw to not do damage and had a shorter knockback distance.
  • Fixed a bug where jumping forward during a back ground dash (with shield) had dash momentum.
  • Fixed a bug that caused him to not face the opponent when behind them while activating Charging Star and Hyper Charging Star.

Dormammu

  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to cancel Dark Spell: Creation after LK/HK Dark Hole with Flight.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed players to cancel Dark Spell: Creation after LK/HK Purification with Flight.

Doctor Strange

  • Fixed bug where when there are 3 Graces of Hoggoth HP traps on screen and Flames of the Faltine is used from a higher position, the fired laser VFX disappears.
  • Fixed bug causing one Grace of Hoggoth to remain on screen after activating Flames of the Faltine in certain situations.

As a reminder, Black Panther, Sigma, and Monster Hunter will be available on October 17!

We’re now halfway through October and the internet drawing community movement #inktober is in full swing. As someone who loves a lot of Capcom characters, I always enjoy coming across awesome Capcom fan art, but I have a particular sense of admiration for artists capable of committing their designs to ink. I find that challenge quite scary in some ways… very fitting for the month of October now that I think of it. Anyways, here’s some amazing #inktober Capcom characters I’ve found online:

@Akimaye

@Raiderfryink

@hooksnfangs

@MeariiGoRound

And to close things off, I highly recommend taking a look at @Outerring ’s artwork. They posted a variety of beloved Capcom characters, making very good use of negative in their drawings. Check it out:

Can’t wait to see what else you’ll come up with for the remaining of the month. And if you’re participating in #inktober this year too, hit me up with some links to your work!

STICKY NOTE: Did you make something cool? Send us a note or drop a comment below; we would love to feature your work here! Same goes for any awesome stuff you may see in the wild; we always welcome more fantastic fan work. =)

Capcom Heroes Brings Classic Capcom Characters to Dead Rising 4

Oct 06, 2017 // Jeffery Simspon

Since Frank West first donned a Mega Man costume and jammed a Servbot head onto a zombie in the original Dead Rising game, one of the hallmarks of the series has always been the subtle (and not-so-subtle) references to other classic Capcom franchises. From the Resident Evil nod in the mall’s restaurant named Jill’s Sandwiches, to the free Street Fighter costume pack released for Dead Rising 4, it’s clear that a love for Capcom runs deep in the series.

It’s something close to the heart for the Dead Rising design team and when they had the chance to dream up a new game mode for Dead Rising 4, they drew upon the series’ deep ties to classic games and came up with Capcom Heroes; the ultimate love letter to many classic Capcom games.

In Capcom Heroes for Dead Rising 4, Frank West wears over a dozen outfits pulled from the Capcom archives and performs signature special attacks based on some of our greatest heroes. Capcom Heroes is an alternate way to experience the Dead Rising 4 story mode. While progressing through missions and exploring the world, players will discover arcade machines. Interacting with these arcade cabinets lets the player equip a new “Hero Outfit” that gives Frank the powers and abilities of that character.

While we aren’t announcing all of our featured costumes today, we can confirm that Frank will be able take on the look and abilities of:

  • Cammy from Street Fighter
  • X from Mega Man X
  • Sissel from Ghost Trick
  • Adam “The Clown” MacIntyre from Dead Rising
  • Dante from Devil May Cry
  • “Classic” Frank West from Dead Rising
  • So many more!

Frank will now be able to fight through the zombie hordes and uncover what’s behind the latest outbreak in Willamette while wielding Adam’s dual chainsaws, Dante’s Rebellion Sword or X’s signature X-Buster and many more of Capcom’s most powerful weapons.

In addition to using the arcade machines, Frank can purchase some outfits from vendors and unlock others by finding collectibles hidden throughout the world. Players will also want to look for “Hero Training” side missions which award outfit variants and upgrades.

The design team has packed even more Capcom goodness that encourage players to photograph posters in the environment and loot treasures to access interesting game trivia and art.

Capcom Heroes is a free mode coming for all Dead Rising 4 owners on December 5th. Whether you already own the game on Xbox One, Windows 10 or Steam or are picking up the upcoming Dead Rising 4: Frank’s Big Package for PlayStation 4, you’ll be able to experience Capcom Heroes.

So grab your X-Buster, Rebellion Sword, and mini chainsaws and get ready to take on the outbreak in Dead Rising 4’s all new game mode Capcom Heroes.

Experience Mega Man 2’s boss theme in a new and relaxing way

Oct 04, 2017 // Kellen Haney

There are times where we could all use a little soothing music to help drift off to sleep after a busy day. Fortunately, Prescription for Sleep: Fight for Your Dreams is just what Dr. Light ordered, featuring relaxing renditions of familiar boss and battle tunes from various video games to take that edge off and help you get a good night’s rest. Read on for a clip featuring the “Boss” track of Mega Man 2 like you’ve never heard it before, and for more info on where to pre-order the full album of re-imagined video game tunes presented by Scarlet Moon Records .

Arranged, performed, and recorded by GENTLE LOVE, the appropriately-named “Boss” track from Mega Man 2 flips the tone of this iconic 8-bit track that symbolizes Mega Man’s high-octane battles into a serene melody that puts you at ease with an elegant saxophone and piano arrangement. If you enjoyed what you heard in the clip above, you’ll be happy to know the twelve track album is coming soon – you can pre-order it on BandCamp ahead of the album’s release on October 10 th.

Norihiko Hibino, who plays the saxophone for GENTLE LOVE, has some insight into the track as well. “We were inspired greatly by Steve Reich’s music, as this minimal and repetitive approach perhaps creates a feeling of ‘Justice for humanity towards robots.’” Long-time fans may recognize this as a long-running theme throughout the Mega Man series, and you’re sure to enjoy the full track when it makes its debut on the 10 th.

Look no further than Mega Man Legacy Collection to experience the original tune, made to get you pumped up as you take down Robot Masters in Mega Man 2! For more info and additional albums in the Prescription for Sleep series, be sure to check out Scarlet Moon Records . Fight on, Mega Man – for everlasting peace, and for sweet dreams.

Black Panther and Sigma Gameplay Trailer for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Oct 04, 2017 // Andy Wong

Sharpen your claws and upgrade your circuits! The gameplay trailer for Black Panther and Sigma has arrived for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite! Both characters join the fight with Monster Hunter on October 17 along with each of their premium costumes. All three will also be playable at New York Comic Con 2017!

When his father was murdered, T’Challa stepped forward to earn the mantle of the Black Panther, ruler of the technologically-advanced African nation of Wakanda. With his genius intellect, unrivaled combat expertise, and strong sense of justice, he rules over the newly-formed “Valkanda” and serves as its guild master now that his kingdom has merged with Val Habar, a desert town known for its monster hunters.

Black Panther is a melee fighter who utilizes quick slashes with his claws to win the fight. T’Challa can also cling to walls as well as jump from one to another in a matter of moments, allowing him to escape pressure, but to also pounce on an opponent from multiple angles.

Sigma was the first and most powerful reploid created by reverse-engineering X. Sigma once protected humanity against Mavericks (reploids who malfunctioned and became a threat to humanity) until the fateful day when Zero’s stasis pod was unearthed. Zero awakened in an out-of-control state, infected with a mysterious virus, but Sigma did not. Corrupted, Sigma became the instigator of numerous Maverick uprisings. Now Sigma and his virus are one with Ultron Sigma, a being whose hatred towards humanity is limitless.

Using his energy sword, Sigma is able to control the battle by opening up dimensional rifts that linger around the screen, hindering his opponent’s movement options. Armed with a command grab and a counter teleport, he has options to deal with overly aggressive teams that may try to take advantage of his slower but imposing move set.

Everyone who obtained the 2017 Character Pass will automatically get Black Panther, Sigma, Monster Hunter, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, and Venom when they become available. You can also purchase these characters separately for $7.99 each, which includes their premium costumes as seen below.

We also have premium costumes for the full roster coming soon. Stay tuned for more information!

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC!

Breath of Fire III soundtrack gets jazzed up by Materia Collective

Oct 03, 2017 // Patrick Kulikowski

The jazzy soundtrack of Breath of Fire III remains one of my favorite RPG scores out there, and the talented folks at Materia Collective just spiced things up even further with a newly released remix album !

Breath of Fire III (Remastered Tracks) is a 14-track arranged album whipped up by Materia Collective’s Sean Schafianski , who, together with performers Matthew K. Mukerjee, Marc Papeghin, Wilbert Roget, II, Felipe Salinas, Mikutan, and Tiago Rodrigues, pay homage to the delightfully fresh tunes originally composed by Capcom alumni Akari Kaida and Yoshino Aoki.

From arranger Sean Schafianski:

“This album holds a very special place in my heart, as it is one of the first PlayStation RPGs that I played as a child, and the jazzy, upbeat soundtrack stuck with me ever since. I hope that listeners will feel the same energy, joy, and nostalgia that I did while revisiting this amazing soundtrack.”

The album is now available on Bandcamp , iTunes , Spotify , and Google Play Store , so grab it and give it a whirl! It’s also worth mentioning that we released the soundtrack for Breath of Fire III as part of the Breath of Fire I ~ III Original Soundtrack Collectionon the Capcom Store just last year !

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen now available on PS4 and Xbox One

Oct 03, 2017 // Yuri Araujo

Get ready to have your heart stolen by the magnificent dragon Grigori once more. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is now available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Those of you who already journeyed through Gransys and reclaimed your heart from the dragon, back when the game first launched in 2012, will know exactly what to expect here. This is the complete Dragon’s Dogma experience, including all the content and updates added in the Dark Arisen expansion.

But if you’re a brand new Arisen… welcome! Here’s a quick summary of the game:

Story Setting

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is an awesome Action RPG set in an expansive open world where you get to create your own character, the Arisen, and set out on an epic quest to fight the dragon Grigori, who quite literally steals your heart. It is up to you to prevent the destruction of the world.

Gameplay

Game direction comes from the hands of renowned Devil May Cry series director Hideaki Itsuno who managed to combine the deep customizability of fantasy RPGs with incredibly satisfying combat mechanics, and topped it all off with an innovative party management system that lets you create and share AI-controlled controlled characters with other players across the globe.

PS4 & Xbox One features

As we bring this beloved Action RPG to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, our development team took great care to keep the core game intact, and, for a smooth combat experience, we locked the framerate at 30FPS. The game runs at a higher resolution on PlayStation 4 Pro and can be upscaled to 4K resolution. Here is a video comparing the new PS4 version with the original PS3 release:

Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen is available now on PS4 and Xbox One for $29.99.
