Devil May Cry HD Collection coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on March 13, 2018

Dec 07, 2017 // Yuri Araujo

Grab your sickest red coat and Devil Arms and get ready to hunt demons in style in Devil May Cry HD Collection, coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One both digitally and at retail on March 13, 2018!

Since his debut back in 2001, Dante swiftly became a gaming icon, representing fun and challenging combat coated in a layer of stylish moves and crazy acrobatics that make you look like an absolute badass. We’re talking juggling enemies in the air with handgun bullets and even riding them around like skateboards. It’s that stylish potential that has drawn in and captivated fans worldwide; after all, who doesn’t like looking super cool?

So if you’re part of the group of people that didn’t raise their hands just now, we have just the collection for you, and the perfect jumping on point to get to know this irreverent character that has since appeared in various fighting games, puzzle games, RPGs and even had his own animated series. Featuring three games, silky smooth 60fps gameplay, and a wide variety of enemies, weapons and styles to experiment with, Devil May Cry HD Collection is the perfect compilation for those looking to get their stylish combat fix.

Here’s a quick overview of the three games in the package:

Devil May Cry (2001)

This is the one that started it all, starring a mature and subdued Dante, which matched the mood and tempo of the game’s sense of isolation during the exploration sequences and tough-as-nails boss battles. It’s also the game that inspired my favorite TV game ad of all time:

Devil May Cry 2 (2003)

Taking place after the events of the first Devil May Cry, this sequel strives for a more cinematic look and feel to combat, changing things up in how the camera behaves, but also taking extreme care to make the animations more natural and fluid. Plus, you can unlock and play as Trish, featuring her own unique weapons and move set.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition (2006)

Focusing on the origins of our favorite demon hunter, this prequel features a much younger and more rambunctious Dante who cares very little about how much damage he’s doing to even his own shop as long as he can chew his pizza and kick some butt. And he runs out of pizza.

Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition quickly took the spotlight as a fan favorite with the addition of combat Styles that significantly change the way you slay demons. These Styles can be selected and upgraded between each mission. This game also put a spotlight on Dante’s relationship with his twin brother Vergil, who is an unlockable character with his own move set and gameplay.

So whether you’re a fan of action games, a returning Devil May Cry fan, or just curious about Dante’s legendary original trilogy, you won’t want to miss Devil May Cry HD Collection, coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 13, 2018 both digitally and at retail for $29.99.

Free Versus Mode Demo Weekend for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite Dec. 8-11! Venom, Winter Soldier, and Black Widow Out Now!

Dec 05, 2017 // Andy Wong

Following the successful Free Versus Demo Weekend for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite on November 24, we have decided to host another one from December 8-11! If you didn’t get a chance to partake last time, here’s your opportunity to play for an entire weekend. Continue reading for important details regarding who can participate and what the demo consists of!

Who can participate?

Only PlayStation Plus members have access to the Free Versus Mode Demo Weekend, and only on PlayStation 4. You’ll be able to play against other PS Plus members and also anyone who already owns a copy of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite on PlayStation 4.

When does it start and end?

America – December 8 at 8AM PST until December 11 at 8AM PST

Japan – December 8 at 9pm JST until December 11 at 11:59PM JST

Europe – December 8 at 12PM GMT until December 11 at 12PM GMT

Please note that precise timing may shift without notice.

You can pre-load the Free Versus Mode Demo today from the PlayStation Store!

What modes are available?

Training Mode – This is where you can learn how to play while discovering new combos, teams, and synergies. You’ll be up against a training dummy, so no need to prove yourself just yet!

Online Casual Match – The system will be searching for an Online Casual Match during your time in Training Mode. Once one is found, you can test your skills against another player!

What characters can I play?

All 30 launch characters will be available to play! This includes Thor, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon, Iron Man, Zero, Chun-Li, Chris Redfield, Frank West, and many more! What team will work for you?

Please note that Black Panther, Monster Hunter, Sigma, Venom, Black Widow, and Winter Soldier will not be playable in this demo.

Venom, Black Widow, and Winter Soldier Have Arrived

Venom – Eddie Brock returns to the Marvel vs. Capcom series with a plethora of tools at his disposal to keep the pressure going, even from across the screen. Venom Trap is a new Special Move that allows him to place a trap at any location on the ground, which will activate and grab opponents, rendering them vulnerable. Opponents will definitely be watching their step!

Black Widow – Natasha Romanova’s intense training as a spy helps her get out of sticky situations and into favorable ones. Black Widow is exceptional in close-ranged combat, especially with Covert Catch, a versatile command throw that can also be used in the air. If you’re looking for a more electrifying version, Hyper Covert Catch is a stylish Hyper Combo that only Natasha would be able to pull off.

Winter Soldier – Who needs control over the screen when you can send opponents across it with ease? Bucky Barnes has multiple Special Moves like Hard Blow and Patriot, which both cause a wall bounce, extending his combo potential. It’s not a coincidence his Lv3 Hyper Combo, Unyielding Justice, has the same name as Captain America’s. When partnered with Steve Rogers, Unyielding Justice has a special animation that sees both soldiers showing the opponent the true meaning of authority.

All three characters are now available for purchase individually or as part of the 2017 Character Pass, which also includes Black Panther, Monster Hunter, and Sigma!

Join the epic clash now! Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC!

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition – Arcade Mode Details

Dec 05, 2017 // Andy Wong

On January 16, 2018, the much-anticipated Arcade Mode arrives with Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition! We wanted to create a truly remarkable experience that tugs on the nostalgic heart strings of Street Fighter players around the world, and also continues our spectacular 30 th Anniversary celebration. Learn more about Arcade Mode by following the path after the jump.

Street Fighter made its impact in arcades everywhere when it first arrived on the scene, featuring Ryu and Ken as the only playable characters. Since then, over 60 characters have been introduced to the series hailing from all corners of Earth, each with their own backgrounds and reasons for fighting. In Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, you’ll be able to journey through six different paths, which represent each main title, to witness unique character endings that commemorates 30 years of Street Fighter .

Upon selecting Arcade on the main menu, you’ll be prompted to select which path to choose along with how many battles to expect. The available paths are Street Fighter, Street Fighter II, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter III, Street Fighter IV, and Street Fighter V. You can also customize how many total rounds and the difficulty before starting.

Each path stays true to the characters present in the respective series. For example, you can only select Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Akuma, Laura, Urien, Alex, Kolin, and Ibuki in Street Fighter III’s Arcade path – Sean is represented through Laura while Kolin appears briefly in Gill’s intro.

You’ll find that after every battle, you have a choice on who to fight next, opening up the possibilities of a higher score if you’re confident in defeating the more difficult match ahead of you. Each month, Arcade Mode points are added up, and the player with the highest score will gain a unique Title!

In some paths, the Bonus Stage, which first appeared in the original Street Fighter, will be available where you’ll be tasked with breaking 20 barrels as they plummet into the center of the screen from conveyer belts above. You’ll have “help” from a computer-controlled character who will keep the barrels in the center using his own move set. Breaking all 20 won’t be a walk in the park, so be prepared to figure out what moves work best!

There’s no Arcade Mode without the endings! In Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, there are over 200 different endings featuring gorgeous illustrations from various artists. You can head into the Gallery to find out the unlock condition for each ending. They range from simply completing a path to getting a “Perfect” on the bonus stage. Can you unlock them all?

Finally, Arcade Mode will be playable at PlayStation Experience 2017 in Anaheim, California from Dec 9-10! This playable version of SFV: AE has been created specifically for this event and will not provide a complete experience. Contents may differ in the final version of the game.

December 5 Content Update – Potential Save Data Bug for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite for Xbox One Physical Disc Version

Dec 05, 2017 // Andy Wong

Please be aware that we have discovered a serious bug related to the December 5 content update that could potentially result in a loss of saved data for players who own the disc version of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite on Xbox One, under a specific rare circumstance.

  • Please note that for most players, this will not be an issue. The only situation where you will encounter this bug is if you have updated the game and have save data from the latest update, but later uninstall the game then reinstall from disc and attempt to use the save data without having applied the update. The updated save data and older game will be recognized as not compatible and the game may prompt you to create new save data as it may read the existing data as corrupt. Please do  not  create new save data as it will overwrite your previous save. Instead, please make sure you exit out and apply the latest update before you play the game. This will then ensure your save data stays intact and will work properly. Again, you will only lose your save data if you choose to accept the option to create a new save in this scenario, which would overwrite your prior data.
  • If you have save data from the latest update and at some point later do need to re-install the game from your disc, please make sure you connect to Xbox Live and apply the latest update after reinstalling from the disc but before you play the game.
  • Unfortunately due to the nature of the bug, there is no current fix available but if proper steps are followed, it can be avoided. This is only known to affect Xbox One physical disc versions under the specific condition above.

READY? Mega Man 11 is coming in Late 2018!

Dec 04, 2017 // Kellen Haney

Thirty years ago, in 1987, a super robot named Mega Man was created. In 2018, the fight for everlasting peace will continue! Today during our big Mega Man 30 th Anniversary Twitch live show, we revealed a brand new Mega Man game. Mega Man 11 is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in late 2018! All of us at Capcom celebrated the Blue Bomber’s grand return as part of the Mega Man 30 th Anniversary Celebration with a Twitch stream dedicated to the beloved ‘bot, featuring special guests, developer interviews, and more! Check out the archive to watch the festivities unfold, and read on for more info about today’s announcements!

30th Anniversary Stream

Streamer Showdown Pre-show featuring Mega Ran, Projared, and Usedpizza

“Wily” performed by Mega Ran

It’s been nearly 30 years since Rock, Dr. Light’s robot lab assistant, first volunteered to be converted into a fighting robot and our hero’s place was cemented as a legendary video game icon, influencing and inspiring the action-platformer genre for years to come. Today we’re pleased to introduce you to an all-new chapter to the series’ storied history. Mega Man 11 brings a fresh new design and incredible 2.5D visuals to the classic series, leaping into the modern era of gaming with beautiful 3D-modeled characters and hand-drawn environments. Everything you know and love about the Blue Bomber and much more is here in a brand-new style! With an expert development team at Capcom, many of whom have been working at the company since the early 8-bit era, we’re revitalizing and revolutionizing Mega Man for a new generation while keeping the series’ tight classic gameplay and the heart of our beloved hero intact. Veterans can expect the series’ signature challenge, and we’re inviting new players to the mix with a variety of difficulty options to choose from in the game.

This is Mega Man just as you remember him, filled with the same determination to take down Dr. Wily’s mad machines and put an end to his evil schemes. Jump, shoot, and slide your way through unique and colorful environments, then defeat Robot Masters to claim their weapons as your own. Mega Man has received some upgrades, too.

Aside from a new look with subtle changes to his classic style, Mega Man will change more than his color when he swaps to a Robot Master’s weapon – his entire appearance will change, too! You noticed it in the trailer, right? Eagle-eyed fans like Protodude got a glimpse of the future from a hint we slipped into Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 earlier this year. Speaking of the classics, there’ll be returning characters, as well, including faithful robot canine companion Rush, who you can see in action in the trailer, and Mega Man’s sister who’s always ready to do her part, Roll, who you can see in the art below!

I hope this news comes as a pleasant surprise and we thank you for your patience! We’ll have much more to share with you all on Mega Man 11 in Summer of 2018! Speaking of Summer, we also announced that we’re bringing all eight games from the Mega Man X series to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in Summer 2018! Set in the far-off future of 21XX, fans of this more mature take on the classic formula will have plenty of reason to rejoice when the wall-jumping, armor-wearing, Maverick hunting X makes his debut on modern consoles with Zero and Axl in tow. We’ll have more to share on this in the coming months.

Finally, with the announcement of a new numbered entry, now is a great time to revisit all of the Blue Bomber’s classic adventures! We’ve heard your requests, and Mega Man Legacy Collection , which includes 1-6 and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2, featuring 7-10 are coming to Nintendo Switch – play on the go, at home, or everywhere in between in preparation for Mega Man 11! We’re adding a Rewind feature to the first Mega Man Legacy Collection which will help you turn back the clock if you make a mistake or just need a moment to recover in the challenging 8-bit originals. These collections of retro classics will be out in Spring of 2018. Existing owners of the first collection featuring the original 8-bit entries can look forward to the Rewind feature rolling out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Spring of 2018 as well.

It’s an incredible time to be a Mega Man fan, and the 30 th anniversary festivities are only just beginning with today’s announcements! There’s been a lot of great news today, so to recap:

  • Mega Man 11, a brand new game in the legendary series, will be out in late 2018 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PCs.
  • All 8 Mega Man X games will also be coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PCs in Summer 2018
  • Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will be coming to Nintendo Switch in Spring 2018.

Stay tuned to the Capcom Unity blog for all the latest, or follow @MegaMan on Twitter and Mega Man on Facebook for all the latest news.

Janet Hsu: Happy Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney launch to one and all! I got my copy from the  Nintendo eShop  – I hope you’ve got yours!

Honestly, I can’t believe it’s been ten years since we originally released this game, but so many of you have shown this game and its characters so much love that I wanted to say “Thank you!” by sharing some of my favorite AJ:AA fanworks, starting with the adorable piece of art:  Apollo Justice Chibi Par-tay by weem (2009). I love how it includes almost every character, and they’re each doing their own very in-character thing. Extra bonus points for Valant’s magical bunnies and dove.

Check out a smattering of awesome Ace Attorney fan creations from the game’s localization director herself in the full blog entry here.

Patrick Kulikowski: If you know me well enough, you may see me occasionally joke about classic Capcom anthems like Takashi Tateishi’s “Dr. Wily Stage 1” from Mega Man 2 and Hiroshige Tonomura’s “The Moon” from Duck Tales being “too popular”.

Today is the day where I eat my own words — just LISTEN to this new, amazing rendition of Duck Tales’ “The Moon” as done by game composer Jukio “Kuabee” Kallio (Luftrausers, Nuclear Throne). This version uses the same sound palette (or “font”, if you will) employed by the game Bleed 2, so you can expect some sick guitar/synth action and pounding drums, not to mention uber-80s tom fills!

Man, just talking about it makes me want to boot up The Disney Afternoon Collection and defy gravity with some pixel-perfect pogo jumps. <3

Speaking of passionate fans, the Breath of Fire Relay II marathon handled by the folks at RPG Limit Break that we mentioned in our previous recap took place on November 24 th . After 31 hours, 8 minutes, and 3 seconds, Team Ryu emerged the victor, with Team Deis taking 2 nd place (31:09:31), Team Nina in 3 rd (31:36:53) and the one-man army of Team Jenja, aka “The Brave Man of the Dragon” taking last place with 34:20:58. Great work to all involved, and congrats on getting featured on Game Informer ! Twitch videos of the marathon can be watched below:

STICKY NOTE: Did you make something cool? Send us a note or drop a comment below; we would love to feature your work here! Same goes for any awesome stuff you may see in the wild; we always welcome more fantastic fan work. =)

Monster Hunter: World PlayStation Plus Beta details

Dec 01, 2017 // Yuri Araujo

UPDATE: We’ve just announced a 2nd Beta, and this time it’s open to ALL PlayStation 4 players (PS Plus no longer required). I’ve updated the dates below to reflect the new Beta.

December 9 is fast approaching and I trust that you already blocked the entire day (and weekend?) off on your calendars. Now it’s time to get you some additional details so you know what and when you can expect to start hunting during the Monster Hunter: World beta.

Start Time: December 22 , 2017 at 9:00am PT / 5:00pm GMT / 6:00pm CET

End Time: December 26 , 2017 at 8:59am PT / 4:59pm GMT / 5:59pm CET

Location : Your gaming room + the Internet

Requirements : Internet connection, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Plus subscription, 5.9 GB of free space, hunting spirit

Quests : The beta features 3 quests across 2 environments from the game. In the Ancient Forest, you can hunt a fierce yet beginner-friendly Great Jagras or as a more experienced player confront the mighty threat of an Anjanath. In the Wildspire Waste, a massive, dry expanse with swamplands, you can face off against the intermediate level mud-slinging Barroth.

Rewards : In addition to an unquantifiable amount of fun, complete each quest and you’ll get some useful bonus items in the full game! Just make sure you use the same Sony Entertainment Network account for both the beta and the full game.

Additional Notes: Each quest can be done solo or with up to three other players online, and you’ll be able to choose from 14 different weapon types based on your preferred playstyle, which you can now change during quests at camp. You can even try out each of them before heading out on a quest by visiting the series’ all-new Training Room , included in the beta! Potions and other supplies will be provided on quests during the beta, but you’ll have to fetch your own food and drinks outside the game for those long gameplay sessions.

And one final note – this beta is just a taste for what the quests will look and feel like in the full game. The beta features a game currently in development and some aspects about balance may be different from the full game, but the satisfaction of tracking and bringing down a giant monster you’ll find is all there.

Stay tuned to our official channels for more info, tips and tricks about the Monster Hunter: World beta. Happy Hunting!

A Dangerous Dozen of New Premium Costumes available December 5 for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite!

Nov 30, 2017 // Andy Wong

The next batch of Premium Costumes for Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will be available on December 5 along with new characters Venom, Winter Soldier, and Black Widow! You can purchase the costumes in two different themed packs: Cosmic Crusaders and Stone Seekers. Gather intel by seeing these new Premium Costumes in action in the gameplay trailers below!

Cosmic Crusaders Costume Pack – Fighting evil across the universe isn’t an easy task, but these characters have the guts, power, and determination to win. Contains Premium Costumes for Rocket Raccoon, Gamora, Nova, X, Zero, and Strider.

Rocket Raccoon (Rocket Space Suit Costume) – When you’re saving the universe week in and week out, it pays to have at least one reliable space suit handy.

Gamora (Gamora Classic Costume) – Before she donned her combat armor, Gamora wore this outfit as she cemented her reputation as the most dangerous woman in the galaxy wearing this outfit.

Nova (Nova Prime Costume) – After absorbing the Worldmind and the collective strength of the Nova Corps, Richard Rider became the nearly invincible Nova Prime.

X (Special X Costume) – Previously seen only as concept art, this unique armor design makes its gameplay debut in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite !

Zero (Special Zero Costume) – Like X’s custom armor costume, Zero’s sleek redesign makes its gameplay debut in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite !

Strider (Strider Hien Costume) – Strider Hien was once an ally to Hiryu, but after Hien’s betrayal and resurrection of Grandmaster Meio, the two Striders became bitter enemies. This costume imagines Hiryu donning Hien’s iconic outfit.

Stone Seekers Costume Pack – These characters will stop at nothing to secure the all-powerful Infinity Stones. Contains Premium Costumes for Ultron, Thanos, Spider-Man, Frank West, Haggar, and Jedah.

Ultron (Ultron Conquest Costume) – If you thought Ultron merging with Sigma was bad news, wait until you see him fused into a techno-organic alien body.

Thanos (Thanos Annihilation Costume) – Thanos was out of action for quite some time, but when the Annihilation Wave triggered his return, he wore these noble robes to signify his spiritual awakening.

Spider-Man (Superior Spider-Man Costume) – Doctor Octopus thought he could be a Superior Spider-Man with extra arms and aggressive tech, but Peter Parker knows it’s the man under the mask that makes the difference.

Frank West (Proto Man Costume) – In Frank’s world, this was just a fun Proto Man costume he wore for a few laughs. Wonder what X and Zero think about this…

Haggar (Metro City Mayor Costume) – It’s tough to find dress shirts in this size! Mayor Mike Haggar must have a pretty good tailor on speed dial…

Jedah (Makai Messiah Costume) – Jedah’s signature scythe attacks influenced an all-new metallic design that reimagines him as a true harbinger of death…and in his eyes, rebirth.

There are three ways to purchase these Premium Costumes:

  • Individually for $3.99.
  • In a themed pack like the Cosmic Crusaders Costume Pack and the Stone Seekers Costume Pack for $11.99 per pack.
  • All 12 are included in the Premium Costume Pass, which is available for $29.99. This pass also comes with the 18 Premium Costumes we previously released.

Resident Evil Revelations is set aboard a ship adrift in the Mediterranean Sea. Join BSAA agent Jill Valentine, former S.T.A.R.S. agent and Raccoon City survivor, in her search for her fellow agents Chris Redfield and Jessica Sherawat in Resident Evil Revelations. Joined by Parker Luciani, the duo soon finds out that they’re in far over their heads, becoming entangled in a grand story of betrayal and revenge. The horror has only just begun, as strange bio-weapons start to worm their way throughout the ship, turning Jill and Parker’s rescue mission into a fight for survival. You’ll have to use every weapon and tool at your disposal, including the Genesis Scanner, which grants helpful items by gathering combat data on bioweapons, to survive this nightmare.

Experience a story set between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 from the perspective of multiple playable characters, hunt for weapons and resources to help you survive, and uncover the truth behind the destruction of the floating city Terragrigia. No need to binge on the story, though, as helpful recaps at the beginning of each new chapter will ensure you never lose your place in the story after gripping cliffhangers.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 focuses on a pair of intertwined stories, and brings back some fan favorite characters from the Resident Evil franchise. Claire Redfield returns as a member of TerraSave, an anti-bioweapon organization that gets caught up in an insidious plot. Joined by Moira Burton, the two try to escape from a desolate prison island. Meanwhile, Moira’s father and former member of S.T.A.R.S., Barry Burton, is looking for his daughter’s last known whereabouts on the same island, where he crosses paths with a child named Natalia who claims to live on the island alone. Barry will need all the help he can get, as strange creatures are prowling the halls and caverns of the island, but it seems Natalia has her own special set of gifts that can help the both of them survive.

Revelations 2 also supports local co-op via a number of control options, allowing you and a friend to play through the story together!

The Nintendo Switch versions of both games also include a number of unique features. Aim and fire with the Joy-Cons, or reload by making a motion like you’re readying a clip or magazine. Swing the Joy-Con to instantly use your knife, or shake off enemies by literally shaking your controller! It’s a fun and immersive new way to play, and makes great use of the built-in motion control capabilities of the Nintendo Switch.

Raid Mode is also included with both games, adding action-packed, arcade-style gameplay separate from each game’s main campaign. Offering a wide selection of characters, abilities, and skills, work your way through maps set in familiar locations from each game (or some throwback maps to previous titles in Revelations 2) and fight your way through hordes of enemies solo or with online co-op! Raid Mode offers tons of replayability, and there’s even more to explore with all previously released DLC included, adding additional playable characters and maps. Scan your favorite Amiibo to unlock additional resources for Raid Mode, as well!

Both Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil Revelations 2 are available now for Nintendo Switch!
