May 10, 2018 // Yuri Araujo

Take the hunt on the go or cast it up to the big screen with Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, known as Monster Hunter XX in Japan, coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch on August 28.

Continuing the celebration started by Monster Hunter Generations on Nintendo 3DS, we’re expanding the monster roster, the number of ways you can hunt, and cranking up the challenge with “G Rank” quests. If you played the original game, good news is you’ll be able to transfer your save data and jump straight into all the new content on Nintendo Switch!

Monstrous Roster

Featuring a diverse cast of returning fan favorites, new variant “Deviant” monsters, an all-new Elder Dragon Valstrax and a new endgame boss Ahtal-Ka, you’ll have your hands full with unique quest targets and gear to craft from them. For those of you that will be newly jumping in, Deviant monsters are even more powerful variants of enemies you will soon become familiar with, monsters that have survived previous hunter encounters and have taken on new traits and abilities.

We’re expanding upon the cast of Deviant monsters introduced in MHGen , including Deviant forms of all the members of the “Fated Four”. Here’s a list of the names of the new challenging fiends that have been added in MHGU:

Boltreaver Astalos

Elderfrost Gammoth

Soulseer Mizutsune

Bloodbath Diablos

Nightcloak Malfestio

Rustrazor Ceanataur

Hunt Your Way

Also building on MHGen ’s Hunting Style system, we are introducing two brand new styles:

Alchemy Style offers a twist to the average hunting arsenal by giving a barrel that, when shaken a bit, can yield items with special properties, interesting buffs for your hunting party, or even unique attacks. Pair this style with the Hunting Horn and Sword & Shield to become to the ultimate support hunter!

Valor Style demands the ultimate knowledge of your target as you place a bet on your health bar in exchange for powerful counter attacks. This one is for the folks out there who like to live on the edge or are looking to master flawless hunting methods.

All the gear, these two new styles, along with the existing four (Guild, Striker, Adept and Aerial) and new Hunter Arts (super moves!) add up to a near limitless amount of possibilities for you to experiment, changing up your experience every time or customizing your hunter to find a hunting type that feels personalized just for you.

Puttin’ the G in ChallenGe

So with all these possibilities, you’ll of course want to put your build, as well as your skillset to the test. Or maybe you want to try out how versatile you can actually be. Enter G Rank. The toughest monsters await you, with new attacks and new behaviors. And, of course, the best gear is locked behind felling these beasts. So make sure to team up with up to 3 other hunters (local or online multiplayer) and coordinate your Styles and Hunter Arts to come out victorious.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate will be releasing exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on August 28, and will be playable at E3 2018.

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection Training and Versus Mode Details!

May 08, 2018 // Andy Wong

Street Fighter 30 th Anniversary Collection is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on May 29, 2018! We’re here to officially announce that Training and Versus Mode will be making their way to this collection, and to go over how each of them will work.

Street Fighter 30 th Anniversary Collection contains 12 iconic titles that have each added to the legendary fighting game series.

  • Street Fighter
  • Street Fighter II
  • Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
  • Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Street Fighter II
  • Super Street Fighter II Turbo
  • Street Fighter Alpha
  • Street Fighter Alpha 2
  • Street Fighter Alpha 3
  • Street Fighter III
  • Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact
  • Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike

VERSUS MODE

Having a dedicated Versus Mode where you can choose your characters and stage is a mainstay for modern fighting games on console. That’s why all 12 of these games will have a local Versus Mode where two players can duke it out against each other! Upon selecting which game you’d like to play Versus in, you’ll then be given a choice of which stage to play on. To add some extra flavor, each of these stages is labeled with which character originated from it. For example, in Street Fighter Alpha 3, the House of Mystery – Palazzo Mistero, Italy is labeled as Rose’s stage.

After each match, you’ll have the option to rematch, as well. If you choose to not have a rematch, you’ll be taken back to the main Versus screen where you can choose which of the 12 games to play. Invite your friends over to see who can really go home with the bragging rights!

TRAINING MODE

As previously announced, Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II: Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Street Fighter III: 3 rd Strike will all have online play! We’re happy to announce that all four of these iconic titles will also feature robust Training Modes, where you can practice combos, set ups, and master your character of choice in order to hone your skills for countless online battles. There are numerous training options available that weren’t in the arcade versions of these games that will enable you to customize your experience and train more efficiently than ever before! Some of the options that are universal amongst all four games are the ability to turn on damage display, input display, dummy controls, and more!

These aren’t even all the options available! Each of the four games also has its own additional training options that work within the gameplay mechanics introduced in the respective series.

After the initial announcement, we saw lots of fan feedback hoping for Versus and Training Modes, even if the collection is focused on the arcade versions. It’s because of this feedback that these modes have been added to the game. Since this is a brand new feature, Versus and Training Mode will be available as a day one patch on May 29. You must connect to the internet and download the patch in order to enable them.

We hope Training Mode will allow you to brush up on your fighting prowess before heading online to take on the world!

Become a Demon Lord with the Astaroth Crossover Costume for M. Bison in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition!

May 04, 2018 // Andy Wong

So far, we’ve only seen heroes and “good guys” as inspiration for Crossover Costumes, but that time is over! Evil will show its face(s) when the Astaroth Crossover Costume for M. Bison begins on May 10!

HOW DOES EXTRA BATTLE MODE WORK?

Every month, there will be at least one unique costume like a Crossover Costume up for grabs, which can only be obtained by playing Extra Battle Mode with Fight Money. Here’s the flow of how to go about getting these costumes:

  • Each costume requires you to complete four challenges that take place over the span of a month – one challenge per week.
  • Each time you attempt one of these challenges, you will need to spend 2,500 Fight Money. So if you successfully complete each of the weekly challenges in one go, you can get that Extra Battle Costume for 10,000 FM!
  • Once you complete all four challenges, the costume for that month is yours!
  • These challenges are time exclusive, so make sure to log in each week to complete them, especially if you have your eyes on that month’s unique costume.

Appearing in Ghosts ‘n Goblins (1985) and its sequels, Astaroth is the main antagonist to the chivalrous knight, Arthur. He is a demon lord and the ruler of the Demon Realm Village, which is a world inhabited by evil creatures. Astaroth has two faces, the primary one on his head and a secondary one on his abdomen. He can breathe fire through both of his faces to scorch enemies to a crisp. He’s also a master illusionist and can create mirages such as creating clones of himself. With clones and evil in mind, M. Bison is undoubtedly the best character to don the Astaroth Crossover Costume!

Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection – Retrospective Series: Street Fighter & Street Fighter II

May 04, 2018 // Andy Wong

As we anxiously await Street Fighter 30 th Anniversary Collection, we thought we should discuss each of the 12 games’ history to give more insight to these past three decades of Street Fighter. Going in chronological order, learn more about the original Street Fighter, Street Fighter II series, and Super Street Fighter II series in our retrospective video narrated by James Chen!

STREET FIGHTER

The original Street Fighter (1987) introduced players to both Ryu and Ken, the only two playable characters in the game. Adon, Gen, Birdie, and Sagat were also in Street Fighter as non-playable characters and would eventually return to future games. Hadoken, Tatsumaki Senpukyaku, and Shoryuken were unique moves that had to be performed using certain motions. Though they were fairly difficult to pull off at the time, all three moves remain an iconic mainstay to Ryu and Ken’s repertoire.

STREET FIGHTER II

The game that changed the fighting game genre forever, Street Fighter II became a worldwide phenomenon due to its new characters and improved gameplay. All eight playable characters became legends in video game history and are easily recognizable to this day, especially Chun-Li, the only female fighter in the roster. In terms of gameplay, each character also came with their own signature moves like Guile’s Sonic Boom that would remain part of their identity for years to come. Normal moves could now be linked together and also into a character’s special moves, creating the combo system that is now a staple in any fighting game.

STREET FIGHTER II: CHAMPION EDITION

Adding the four boss characters – M. Bison, Vega, Balrog, and Sagat – from Street Fighter II, the total number of playable characters became 12 in Street Fighter II: Champion Edition. In addition, both players could now choose the same character!

STREET FIGHTER II: HYPER FIGHTING

Acting as a more thorough update to Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, this version gave some characters new moves like a fireball for Chun-Li. The biggest change was the increase to the game’s battle speed, which amped up the competitive arcade scene.

SUPER STREET FIGHTER II

A dramatic re-imaging of the game from top to bottom, Super Street Fighter II features four new characters, new ending screens, sound effects, a scoring system, and more quality of life improvements across the board. Cammy, T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and Fei Long entered the ring and became superstars in their own regard. The aforementioned scoring system was used during the match and awarded points upon using certain moves. This included the first use of certain terminology like “reversals” and “first attacks.”

A special variant called Super Street Fighter II: The Tournament Battle will be recreated in the Nintendo Switch version of Street Fighter 30 th Anniversary Collection! This allows up to eight players to link their Nintendo Switch systems together to form local tournaments where a winner will be crowned.

SUPER STREET FIGHTER II: TURBO

Generally considered to be the final version of the game, Super Street Fighter II: Turbo introduced Super Combos to the series, which where all-new powerful moves that could turn the tide of battle. Air combos were also added, allowing players to hit opponents in the air and juggle them into other moves, including Super Combos. Finally, Akuma made his first appearance as a hidden boss and playable character. Due to his popularity, he would subsequently be a regular part of the Street Fighter series.

We’ll be returning for retrospective videos on the Street Fighter Alpha and Street Fighter III series before Street Fighter 30 th Anniversary Collection launches on May 29 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Pre-order on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Steam at participating retailers to receive Ultra Street Fighter IV for free!

Monster Hunter: World patch update 3.02 (PS4) / 3.0.0.2 (Xbox One) – Kulve Taroth quest line and Stats

Apr 26, 2018 // Yuri Araujo

Monster Hunter: World patch update 3.02 (PS4) / 3.0.0.2 (Xbox One) is now live; patch notes available below.

Kulve Taroth Quest Line :

  • Fixed a bug where the Kulve Taroth Siege quest line would not progress correctly under certain conditions (specifically: if you speak to the Admiral out in the field when participating in another player’s instance of the “A Wound and a Thirst” or similar quests, after having collected Kulve Taroth traces but BEFORE having spoken to him separately in Astera). Players who have encountered this bug already can return to Astera and speak with the Admiral, triggering the council scene, after which the Kulve Taroth Siege will become available.
Great Sword Wyvern Ignition “Impact” :
  • Fixed a bug where the great sword Wyvern Ignition “Impact” saw its fire elemental attack value unintentionally reduced to 240. The value has been reset to 510. The armor skill “Free Element/Ammo Up” is still a requirement for unlocking the fire elemental attack of this weapon.
First Wyverian Statistics :
  • Fixed some bugs in the data collection for the statistical summaries given to you by speaking to the First Wyverian (weapon usage, number of monsters slain, etc.). Data will be progressively reset starting on April 26. For the duration, the First Wyverian will not give out any statistical information, but this should not affect gameplay in any other way. Please note that the statistical data may be low in accuracy for a short time after the process has finished.

Puzzle Fighter Sunset Announcement

Apr 20, 2018 // Jeffery Simspon

Firstly, we’d like to thank all the fans who have supported and enjoyed our Puzzle Fighter mobile game thus far. As huge fans of Puzzle Fighter ourselves, the team here at Capcom Game Studio Vancouver is proud to have created a new version of the game that’s unique and enjoyable.

As the studio is dedicating its focus to our flagship Dead Rising franchise, we have decided to sunset Puzzle Fighter. The game will be removed from app stores on July 1 and servers will be shut down on July 31. The game will still be playable until July 31 and today we are gifting all players 10,000 in-game gem currency. We are also making upcoming characters (Regina, Dr. Wily and Ada Wong) and stages (Darminor and Uroboros Laboratory) available for free for fans to enjoy up until this time. Regina and Dr. Wily will be available in-game later today, while Ada Wong and the new stages will be released on Monday April 23. Later today the game’s soundtrack will also be available to stream online for free via SoundCloud . In addition, the previous Classic Mode special limited event will be available at all times up until the server closure.

In the meantime, in preparation for the app removal, please be aware that in-app purchases will be disabled on April 23. However, any existing purchased in-game gem currency can still be used in the game to upgrade characters before the server is shut down.

We appreciate the fans who have supported Puzzle Fighter until this point. We thank you for playing the game and hope to ensure your remaining time with Puzzle Fighter is an enjoyable one.

Monster Hunter: World expands with new Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth, new limited-time quest type

Apr 18, 2018 // Yuri Araujo

Hunters, hope you’ve been enjoying the nice, relaxing celebration of the Spring Blossom Fest. As that special limited-time event comes to a close, we already have your next big assignment waiting for you: the Siege of Kulve Taroth (available from April 18 th  until May 3 rd )!

With the conclusion of the Zorah Magdaros and Nergigante investigations, the path is now clear for the arrival of the majestic Elder Dragon Kulve Taroth.

We’ll let you investigate more details about the new Elder Dragon itself directly, but what little information the Research Commission has gathered indicates we need to deploy a new hunting strategy. Enter the Siege!

Siege is a brand new limited-time quest type which requires the collaborative efforts of all hunters in the same Gathering Hub (which can house up to 16 hunters). Each hunting party will split off into groups of up to four hunters each, but will be working together to investigate and hunt down the same Kulve Taroth.

As each hunting party collects more tracks and breaks off more parts from attacking Kulve Taroth, they’ll contribute progress to the same Siege. This new quest type is designed and balanced for multiplayer, so call up your Squadmates, or join up a dedicated Kulve Taroth lobby, and make sure to coordinate with other hunters if you want to earn the best rewards.

The primary goal of this Siege is to repel Kulve Taroth, but its shimmering golden mantle happens to be a collection of shiny weapon relics it has gathered along its journey through the New World. We don’t have much information on when and where Kulve Taroth has amassed all these relics, so the nature and quality of these weapons (read: type and stats) are entirely up to fate.

The Smithy, however, is already hard at work coming up with a new armor set to complement these weapons quite nicely. Be sure to pay him a visit after you’ve gathered enough Kulve Taroth materials.

The first instance of the Kulve Taroth Siege will start on April 18 at 5pm PT / April 19 at 1am BST , along with our second free content update, and will run until May 3 at 5pm PT / May 4 at 1am BST . It will return at a later date, but details are very scarce at the moment, so assemble your Squad to take full advantage of this golden opportunity.

Also, be sure to check the official Monster Hunter: World website for more details on the update as well as full patch notes.

Falke, the Guardian Hawk, Vaults into Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on April 24!

Apr 16, 2018 // Andy Wong

Falke, the third character of Season 3, will officially join Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on April 24! As a brand new character to the series, swoop in and watch her gameplay trailer below!

Falke was built to be an alternative clone for M. Bison. She was heavily experimented on by Shadaloo and was forced to train day in, day out to achieve perfection. Falke has the unique ability to infuse Psycho Power into objects and release it through them, mainly through her staff, which she named Harmony. Years of harsh training went by, causing Falke to spiral deep into despair, wishing for it all to end. Finally, Ed came to her rescue and they both were able to escape Shadaloo. Now, the two have a sibling-like bond and are searching for others like them in need of help.

Falke utilizes her staff in battle to keep opponents at range, but it also serves as her conduit for Psycho Power. By holding down any punch button, Falke can charge up and store Psycho Power until the button is released in one of three different ways:

  • Standing (Psycho Kugel) – Falke releases the Psycho Power through her staff like a shotgun
  • Air (Psycho Feder) – Falke shoots a projectile at a diagonal angle downwards from the air
  • Crouching (Psycho Kanonen) – Falke lays on the ground and shoots a projectile at the opponent’s feet. She can avoid projectiles while using Psycho Kanonen.

Like Ed, some of Falke’s special moves only require either two punch or two kick buttons – no special inputs required. Pressing two punches will result in Psycho Schneide, which is her version of an uppercut. Pressing two kicks is Katapult, which sees Falke pole vaulting towards the opponent in a kick motion.

V-Skill: Psycho Trombe

Falke extends one arm and spins her staff in front of her. Psycho Trombe on its own can be cancelled into by a variety of normal moves and can also be used to absorb projectiles.

V-Trigger I: Staerken

In this two-block V-Trigger, Falke powers up her ability to infuse and release Psycho Power from her staff and will allow her to use additional versions of her special moves without needing to charge up in advance.

Pressing HP+HK again during this V-Trigger will cause Falke to use Psycho Shrot, a powered up version of Psycho Kugel that emits three bullets and travels further. Pressing down and HP+HK will see Falke using Psycho Panzer, a powered up version of Psycho Kanonen that deals more damage. Finally, pressing HP+HK in the air will cause Falke to use Psycho Jaeger, a stronger Psycho Feder that can ricochet off the ground. Psycho Shrot and Kanonen can be cancelled into each other and can leave the opponent prone to a Critical Art.

V-Trigger II: Psycho Angriff

In this three-block V-Trigger, Falke increases her ability to utilize her staff in various ways. Upon activation, Falke will immediately twirl around hitting the opponent into the air, which she then follows up with a surge of Psycho Power.

Pressing HP+HK during this V-Trigger will result in Falke using Psycho Sturm, a sweeping hit with her staff that can be cancelled into to extend combos. Pressing down and HP+HK will see Falke using Psycho Klinge, where she jumps diagonally into the air before slamming her staff down on the opponent and can be followed up with normal moves. Falke’s V-Skill, Psycho Trombe, can also reflect projectiles during Psycho Angriff.

Finally, each of the new moves Falke gains during Psycho Angriff can be cancelled into from special moves like Psycho Schneide and Katapult, increasing her combo potential and damage.

Critical Art: Psycho Fluegel

With a Psycho Power-charged staff, Falke launches opponents into the air. She then pole vaults up to meet her opponent, whacks them sideways with her staff, then slams them down with a final overhead swing.
