Well guys, the results are in for Round 4, which had us Beacon Running through “Street Rat” on the PS3.
Coming in first place with an intimidating completion time of 00:47:06 is SubStylee022. Amazing. Great to see frequent leaderboard champ ShadowBlanka make a showing too, trailing just eighty milliseconds behind.
At any rate, congrats to our winner, and badges for all other participants! Tune back in tomorrow for the start of Round 5 on Xbox 360.
And just so PlayStation fans don’t feel left out at this point, we should remind you that you have two FREE games waiting for you on PS Plus: Remember Me for PS3 and Street Fighter X Tekken for Vita . Does that about cover everyone? Has everybody found a relevant Capcom sale? I hear Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is 50% off on Uplay in EMEA territories…
Today’s throwback game is the one that started it all. And by “started,” I mean “continued.” It’s also one of my favorite games EVAH! Yes, tune into Twitch at 4pm PT for a rousing stream of Devil May Cry 3 (HD), the game that put guitars that shoot bats and also electricity at you on the map!
YES I know I’ve streamed this game multiple times before. Hope you guys don’t mind.
Oh yeah! Remember that the Devil May Cry HD Collection is currently on sale on Xbox LIVE’s Deals with Gold for just $9.90. We might have a giveaway or two on the stream today, too….
The first tournaments for the Street Fighter Online Series, the online portion of the Capcom Pro Tour hosted by Virgin Gaming, just went live yesterday for both PS3 and Xbox 360. The speed at which the spots filled up in the United States and Europe has been blistering to say the least. There seems to be some confusion on how the online tournaments will work, so please read below for a full explanation.
Online tournaments will take place regularly in North America, Latin America and Europe. Once the qualification portion of the tournament begins, it’s a race to fill up the bracket. Players will need to win three matches in a row, to then be able to qualify for the double elimination bracket. These qualifying matches can be played at any point until April 15th, however once the 16 spots are accounted for, the qualifying matches end. If you happen to be returned to the landing page upon signing up, it’s because the cap has already been met, and the double elimination bracket has been filled.
For those who have made it in, the double elimination bracket will take place on April 15 th , and all players in the bracket will receive ranking points toward the Capcom Cup this December.
Currently spots have been completely filled for the United States Xbox360 and PlayStation 3 tournaments, and Europe’s Xbox 360 tournament. There are still spots available for PlayStation 3 in Europe, as well as both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in Latin America.
For the future online tournaments, we plan on increasing the cap based on demand per region. So to those who did not make it in this time, look forward to next month and another chance to win those ever so sweet Capcom Pro Tour points.
Yesterday we posted a batch of screen grabs taken from the most recent Nintendo Direct, which was great and all, but some of them weren’t the highest quality. Today Nintendo has released a massive assortment of official images to gaze upon in lovely high-res, so take a peek below and check out various other websites for the full batch!
PLENTY more where that came from.
It’s pretty interesting being on the other side of things for this Smash Bros. I was at the 2006 Brawl reveal, which not only announced the game but also Solid Snake’s milestone appearance. For the next two years, I covered every carefully framed screenshot of Brawl, then reviewed it, then played with friends for some time.
Now, I’m on the other side, and get to see Mega Man handled so well, by the same folks who did such an amazing job with Snake and Sonic. Can’t wait to play this!
Four great Capcom titles for under $20 until April 14th via Deals with Gold
I’d love to type something witty here, but the info above is pretty much all you need to know and why needlessly waste time?! But if you’re a stickler for context, Microsoft is throwing a massive Deals with Gold Sale-ebration on Xbox Live . If you’ve been holding out on any of the following titles, get wise and take advantage before the clock strikes Monday, April 14th.
The latest Nintendo Direct focused on the upcoming Super Smash Bros on 3DS (due Summer 2014) and Wii U (due Winter), which included a few extra tidbits and footage about Mega Man content in the game.
There’s a lot to digest in there, but the highlights are Yellow Devil, Elec Man as an assist Trophy and uh, that flat-out amazing Final Smash seen directly above, where MM summons his Mega Brothers 0_0
So uh yeah – Super Smash Bros sequel coming soon, and Mega Man’s role looks incredible.
Probably the only legal ramifications this Top 40 jam can look forward to…
If you haven’t heard Pharrell’s “Happy” then you could definitely teach me a thing or two about advanced avoidance techniques. The song was featured in Despicable Me 2 and performed on the Oscars, neither of which I watched, and is played on pop radio stations across the country, which I don’t listen to. Yet this almost obnoxiously infectious tune seems to pop up everywhere else I go, so we probably shouldn’t be too surprised that it would eventually leak into Capcom territory.
And wouldn’t you know it?! The simple act of laying that song over a couple of those Ace Attorney orchestral/jazzy album rearrangements produces a strikingly similar, listenable result that’ll likely put pep in your step. So just put on a goofy hat and submit, because it ain’t like you’ll be escaping this song anytime soon! In fact, for even more Happyness, peep this cosplay parody featuring several characters from Capcom’s fightin’ past.
Have you voted in our Mega May poll ? If you haven’t, make your handheld Mega Man preference known! Whatever receives the highest number of votes will release first on 5/1, followed by the remaining Game Boy and Game Boy Color Mega Man titles.
We’re one week into the process and right now the top three look like this (in no particular order ):
Mega Man V
Mega Man Xtreme
Mega Man Xtreme 2
If any of those are NOT your choice, then vote ! If one of them IS your choice, then pester some friends to vote as well 😛
The poll ends on Monday 4/14, and the winner won’t be known until Thursday 5/1, when it launches on the North American 3DS Virtual Console.
As a matter of fact, we’ll be live streaming the hunts over at twitch.tv/capcomunity for all to see! And if you have the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate , you can find us at Help D Lobby 10. See you there!
PS: I know I promised a MHFU mutiplayer stream, but the necessary hardware is not here right now… Hoping to get it ready for next Monday though.
Last weekend two awesome events happened that showed off some extremely high level SSFIV AE ver 2012 play. Both definitely had surprising results, which have added some new faces to the Capcom Pro Tour point rankings. Head over to the Capcom Pro Tour site to see who these players are and be sure to check out the newly added full player standings to see how the rest of the competition is stacking up.
