Mega Man X3, out now on Wii U eShop

Aug 28, 2014 // Minish Capcom

At last, the SNES version of Mega Man X3 is back in the wild! Fire up yer Wii U and download this latter-day Super NES gem today!

Released in 1995, this hit pretty late in the SNES cycle and was somewhat overlooked as the Saturn and PlayStation launches dominated everyone’s minds. Fast forward to 2006 and you could’ve grabbed it on the Mega Man X Collection, but even then, the X3 featured there was based on the CD/PS1 version of the game.

With this release, we reach the end of ” MegAugust ,” which saw five MM titles arrive on the Wii U eShop. At this point you can pick up 1~6 on both 3DS and Wii U, X1~3 on Wii U, and Battle Network 1 / Chip Challenge on Wii U.

While you have the eShop open, maybe check out a big ol’ Capcom sale that’s going on, hm?

Monster Hunter Felyne pins debut at PAX Prime

Aug 27, 2014 // Yuri Araujo

UPDATE 2: pin #10 revealed as part of our Collector’s Edition!

UPDATE: We’ve received images of the additional designs that will be sold at the event and later online.

Our  Monster Hunter Mondays stream monsters got an early look at our future giveaways, but now it’s time for an official reveal. So come play  Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate at PAX Prime 2014  (booth #3217) and win this amazing giveaway!

But the why stop with this giveaway when we can start a full Felyne pin collection? … Or should I say  Palico pin collection? After all, the pins depict the different kinds of armor your Felyne can wear; and if it’s wearing armor, it should be considered a Palico. Either way, here’s a closer look at the Yian Kut-Ku armor:

You get the Derring armor (header image) for free, just for playing the game, but all other Palico armor designs will be available for sale at our on site store as well as the online  Capcom Store .

If you’re not going to PAX Prime, however, you will also be able to get these on our online store (coming soon!), or at future events that we attend, although all that stuff is still TBD for now.

And for a special touch, the pin clasp is actually a rubber Felyne head shape!

Sorry the picture is a little blurry… but you should be able to get the idea.

Here are the additional designs that will be for sale (they come in pairs):

Set 1: Brachydios and Yian Kut-Ku

Set 2: Tetsucabra and Kirin

Set 3: Lagiacrus and Teostra

Set 4: Najarala and Zamtrios

Anyways, see you at PAX! =)

UPDATE: Introducing pin #10 (of 10), the Gore Magala pin, which you can get by pre-ordering the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Collector’s Edition!

Resident Evil screen slider comparison

Aug 27, 2014 // Minish Capcom

After seeing the new screens and information about 2015’s enhanced version of Resident Evil, I took the time to play through the 2002 version (or more specifically, its Wii port) and grab some screenshots that lined up with the screens we posted alongside the announcement. As you might expect, the new version looks pretttty nice!

In case your browser acts up, some instructions: Click/hold on the green bar and then use the mouse to scrub left and right to see the comparison. You can also click the text on either lower side to quickly scroll from old to new and back again.

Note: The 2015 RE screens are from a game that’s still in development. The Wii screens were taken through component cables to provide the most typical result. I then shrank the 2015 screens down a tad so they were the same size as the lower-res Wii screens.

Alternatively:

A few of these images made the rounds during announcement in Japan, but today, here they are for the rest of us!

Mega Man X4, X5 coming to PS3 and Vita shops in September

Aug 26, 2014 // Minish Capcom

It’s been a while since we had a PS1 Classic land on PSN ( Darkstalkers 3, y’know! ), but today we’ve got news of not one, but TWO genuine classics that’ll hit the North American store early next month!

In addition to rocking these two outstanding entries on your PS3, you’ll also be able to download and play them on your PS Vita. X4 on the go… why yes, please.

The launch dates are:

Mega Man X4: 9/2

Mega Man X5: 9/9

These two titles join other Mega Man titles on the PS3 and PS Vita stores , including:

PS3/Vita

Mega Man 1~4 (Import Store)

Maverick Hunter X (PSP)

PS3

Mega Man 9-10 (PS3)

Very glad we could get these out the door. Always happy to see more classics become available to a new audience, especially when they’re as beloved and solid as X4 and X5.

So yeah – one week from now, X4 is out!

Monster Hunter Mondays 8/25: MH3U live at 3pm PT

Aug 25, 2014 // Yuri Araujo

Hunting monsters today at  3pm PT sounds like a very fun idea… but it can be made even more fun with giveaways! More info after the jump.

So as we stream the game on our usual  Twitch channel (twitch.tv/capcomunity), you can get one of these highly informative and art filled copies of  Monster Hunter Illustration 2 .

In addition to that, our friend  @DYoshii , will also be streaming the game on his Twitch channel  (twitch.tv/DYoshiiTV) all the way from Australia! That way you can see the action from multiple angles. And I hear he’ll also have some giveaways on his end that sound particularly enticing to Wii U owners that don’t have the game yet… 😉

Anyways, tune in to BOTH channels at  3pm PT . See you there!

PS: Been thinking about doing this kind of collaboration stream with more of you, so hit me up with a Private Message if you’re interested. =)

2002 Resident Evil one of IGN’s top horror titles

Aug 25, 2014 // Minish Capcom

If the recent announcement of Resident Evil coming to new platforms next year got you in the mood for even  more  survival horror, our pals at IGN have assembled a list of their 10 favorite games in the genre. Naturally the ’02 Resident Evil REmake is on the list, but fans of conserving ammo and avoiding enemies should take a look at the full article.

Unsurprisingly, they double dip with Resident Evil and put RE2 on the list as well. Whaddya think of that – are REmake and RE2 the scariest / moodiest entries in the series? And c’mon, I wouldn’t call RE2’s voice acting “terrible,” it’s more like a challenging wine that gets better with age 😛

Also happy to see the first Condemned on there!
