This is a big day, guys. The 1990 NES game Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight just came out on the 3DS Virtual Console. I know that title might scare some of you: “I’m not much for historical fiction,” you’re saying right now.
But this game was actually intended as a stark depiction of the future world of 2010. It also had virtually nothing to do with the Street Fighter or Final Fight series. In fact, protagonist “Ken” was actually named “Kevin” in the Japanese version.
But none of that’s important! What’s important is that this is one of the coolest NES games ever. Traverse multiple planets as an acrobatic cyborg, laying down the smack against eerie sci-fi backdrops. You’ll have to master a variety of thoughtful action mechanics, such as an evasive backflip with invincibility frames and a nuanced climbing mechanic. Save states have never been more welcome, lemme tell ya.
I hope people check this one out, and please let me know what you think!
Brazilian fans once again join forces and create a massive fan art collaboration project. This time the focus is on Mega Man X , spanning a ton of Reploids from X1~X8!
X3 Third Armor by Alexandre Carvalho – great design for cosplay IMO
Similarly to the Super Street Fighter II Tribute , this project tasked each artist with rendering one Reploid from the Mega Man X main series in their own art style.
Armored Armadillo by 2minds Studio
Crush Crawfish by Alex Sandro – one of my favorite bosses from MMX3
While this project didn’t cover Command Mission or the Xtreme games, you gotta give it up to them for having almost every Maverick, end boss and even X’s and Zero’s armor variations in there. Check out the full fan art compilation right here and be sure to talk about your favorites in the comments below. You can see some of my favorites throughout this very post. =)
Tune into Twitch at 4pm PT for your weekly trip down memory lane! This week it’s Mega Man X3, with our own Yuri at the helm. Don’t forget that the game is now available on the Wii U eShop Virtual Console (as of last week, in fact).
Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition is out for the PC tomorrow! That means you still have a little bit of time to preorder it for that sweet 10% discount. I’m not sayin’ you should do that–I’m just saying it’s correct to do that.
Anyway, if you need a little more enticement, check out the following trailer, which really gets right at the essence of Dead Rising. You’ll see what I mean.
For those inclined, you can watch it in 60fps at 1080p here .
Imagine getting poisoned during a quest… then immediately having your eyes struck by a really bright flash of light, making you dizzy. And when you’re about to pull yourself together and drink your precious Antidote, a monster steals it from you!
That’s the Gypceros in a nutshell.
If you’ve been playing Monster Hunter for a while, you know what this monster is all about, but if you’re new (or started with the 3rd generation), I’m not going to spoil the remaining tricks… I guess you’ll just have to try and “kill” one of these yourself.
Anyways, one of the most interesting aspects of the Gypceros is its aforementioned ability to steal items from hunters. So to get you to start thinking about this (and win a cool Unity badge ), let’s play a Community Game I’d like to call: Stolen by the Gypceros .
Sword and Shield
Hammer
Blademaster armor
Gunner Armor
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate will be released on the Nintendo 3DS early next year… but in the mean time, check out some of the other monsters in the game and/or play our Community Game !
Tune into Twitch today at 4pm PT for one last session of Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition before its launch this Friday on PC. We will once again be graced by the attendance of our pal William Yagi-Bacon (Wbacon on Steam), so bring those burning questions, concerns, and compliments! See ya there.
Dead Rising 3 Apocalypse Edition will be available for PC in just two days. Yay! In fact, if you’ve already preordered the game (for a 10% discount, mind you), the preload has already begun so you’ll be able to start hackin’ up zombies as soon as the game launches.
Meanwhile, let’s get in the mood with this li’l video I cooked up showcasing just a few of the game’s zany weapons and vehicles.
As you likely know, we recently announced Resident Evil Revelations 2 with a live-action concept teaser. While this video is filled with suggestive imagery and possible hints, at the end of the day it’s still not something you’ll directly see in the game. Today though, we continue the info-trickle with some concept art that sets the mood for our (currently secret!) protagonists.
A creepy prison on a creepy island. Not somewhere I’d want to be, but definitely somewhere I’d like to see a Resident Evil take place!
Unfortunately that’s all we have today, though keep your eyes peeled…
With a new batch of assets for REmake and Resident Evil Revelations 2 on the way, it seems like a swell time for a little Resident Evil sale. If you’re an Xbox LIVE Gold member, be sure to log in on your 360 this week and grab Resident Evil Revelations and Resident Evil 4 HD each for 66% off.
This may be a slightly controversial statement, but Mega Man X4, one of the greatest Mega Man games of all time, is out now on the PlayStation Store in North America. That means the original PSone Classic is at your fingertips, playable on PS3 and PS Vita.
First released in 1997, this outing saw X and Zero join forces to stop Repliforce, a group of Reploids caught up in a traitorous scheme orchestrated by… well, this is slightly spoiler-y, but uh, yeah it’s Sigma causing all the trouble. Surely that’s not ruining the moment for anyone?
Along the way you’ll tackle classic bosses like Cyber Peacock and Magma Dragoon, plus meet characters like Double and Iris (the one for whom Zero fights, we assume). With its amazing soundtrack, two campaigns and memorable bosses, it’s a true classic, and one we’re happy to bring to the PSone Classics lineup.
And if X4 isn’t enough… X5 is coming next week! AND Mega Man X3 is out on Wii U!
Big news today! The horror and suspense of Resident Evil Revelations will live on in Resident Evil Revelations 2. There’s a lot to talk about with this title, but for now we’re gonna be a little naughty and let this concept teaser pique your interest.
Hmmm… lots to consider after that. BUT for the time being we have to wait for further information. That said, savvy RE fans know there are a few important shows left in 2014 to discuss this title, so hopefully the wait won’t be toooooo long?
Resident Evil Revelations 2 arrives early 2015 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
Last week I shared some screens that compared the upcoming enhanced version of Resident Evil to its Wii counterpart; today we have not just fresh images of the game’s lovely new look, but also a trailer that nicely recaps why we all loved the 2002 original.
And while these pieces of art are known quantities, let’s all remember how great these models look:
Resident Evil arrives early 2015 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC. Given how well the past comparison screens went over , I’ll try to whip s’more up before too long. A great excuse to play just a little bit more…
