That game has some pretty grand music; so here’s a change to win the Official Soundtrack for the original Dragon’s Dogma:
All you have to do is head to raffle page (300 Unity points per ticket) until Monday May 5th… and hey! I’ll even throw in a little Dragon’s Dogma screen wipe for free so we can boost some affinity; how about that?
The Bitterblack insanity continues today, starting at 3:30pm PT on Twitch ! Chills, spills, and SO MANY terrible monsters await on that wretched little isle we all know and love.
Come cheer us on! Also, starting today I will be recruiting community pawns!
If you have a Main Pawn you think will help me on my journey, let me know your PSN ID here or in the Twitch chat and I’ll try it out! Just be aware that if it becomes a liability, I may switch the Pawn out for another one.
So as not to leave out Xbox 360 players, we will begin alternating between PS3 and 360 versions of the game each week, first continuing with the PS3 version today, then switching to 360 next week, and so on.
Meanwhile, we also now have some awesome goodies to give away on these streams moving forward.
Just when you thought we’d announced all the new features going into Ultra Street Fighter IV, we decided to throw in a couple more that we think you’ll be quite excited about, and hopefully enjoy using.
First up is the Training Mode Fight Request feature. This allows you to practice in Training Mode whilst you wait for new challengers online. No more sitting in lobbies, or completing Arcade Mode over and over, stay warmed up and practice combos in between online matches!
Secondly, have you ever been playing offline with your friends and wished you were able to go back and watch a replay of a particular match? Well now you can, with the Offline Battle Log! Once enabled, your offline matches will be automatically archived, and you can replay them back like you would with your favourite online matches.
Combined with our previously announced ‘Upload to YouTube’ feature, you’ll be able to share your most exciting and proud moments with viewers all around the world, whether the match happened online, or offline!
I personally feel this is also going to be a great tool for tournament organisers, as they’ll be able to access direct feed footage of great matches that happen off stream, which otherwise remain unseen by the vast majority.
Let me know what you think of these features on Twitter @dawgtanian
In the (Lego) world of Monster Hunter, everything is awesome…
… everything is cool when you’re part of a team… of four hunters taking down majestic beasts! Or something like that. Just enjoy these lovely minimalistic renditions of the Deviljho (above), Rathalos , Barroth and Barioth , by CommNagrom :
Awesome, right? Just like I said…
Anyways, check out CommNagrom’s gallery for more shots of these masterfully built monsters from different angles. =)
Today, on a very special Throwback Thursday, we’ll be throwing it back not once, but twice, to two different games, from two different points in time.
Tune into Twitch at 3pm PT and catch the stylish action classic Devil May Cry (HD), to be followed immediately afterward at 4pm PT by Mega Man Xtreme (Gameboy Color).
Remember: Devil May Cry HD Collection is currently on sale on PSN , while Mega Man Xtreme launched today on the 3DS eShop!
Remember that vote from April ? Y’all chose Mega Man Xtreme as the game you wanted to see first, so here it is!
This is a slick re-imagining of Mega Man X 1 and 2, with abilities, bosses and levels pulled from both SNES originals. If you know them pretty well, you’ll have a solid head start on Xtreme… though there are some differences that’ll keep you on your toes!
Also of note are two new villains, Zain and Geemel.
They manage to hack into the Mother Computer and activate Maverick data from the past. That means Chill Penguin, Flame Stag and other X1-X2 Mavericks are back, and X has to step inside the ol’ computer to put ’em back in their place.
So yeah! We’ll probably stream some of this today to celebrate, and be sure to check out Nintendo’s Mega May page for the rest of the roster. Which game will come out next week??
Those artists extraordinaire over at Udon Entertainment have two new Capcom books out now, and neither are to be missed!
If you’re a DmC fan, you’ll want to check out DmC Devil May Cry: Visual Art, which collects tons of concept art, key visuals, designs, and even unused concepts in 192 beautiful pages.
For the Street Fighter folks, we’ve got Street Fighter Classic Volume 3: Psycho Crusher. This book collects Street Fighter II Turbo #-12 of Udon’s official Street Fighter comic series in a single hardcover format.
Yesterday I spent a little time discussing the merits of Mega Man IV, and its overall importance to the series. And while MMIV is indeed a spectacular game, my personal “Pick o’ the Bunch” for the MM GB titles is definitely Mega Man V. If MMIV is notable for what it added to the series, MMV is notable for how much it mixed things up from the other Game Boy games…
Many of you likely know why this is such a cool game (this is Capcom Unity after all), but in case you were living on Mars for the last decade, with your eyes shut and your fingers in your ears, I can elaborate a tad :3
Robot Masters? Outta here. Mega Buster? Replaced with the Mega Arm, a sort of supercharged Hard Knuckle from Mega Man 3. Dr Wily? Present, but not the final boss and barely a part of the overall experience. Rush? He’s here, but so is Tango the cat, a new partner who slides around the screen for some extra damage.
So what replaces the Robot Masters? Why, the Stardroids, spacefaring beings who are (of course) at odds with Mega Man. They’re led by Terra, who menaces Mega Man in an opening cutscene; Mega Man is unable to hurt – much less defeat – Terra in his current state, which prompts Light to create the Mega Arm.
While this is already a break from the formula, MMV deviates even from the prior GB games in that it doesn’t pull from its NES counterparts. For example, Mega Man IV is a blend of new content plus elements of the NES Mega Man 4-5. MMV on the other hand, is all-new, making it a must-play entry in the series – and it’s finally coming to 3DS in May!
Speaking of which, “Mega May” kicks off tomorrow with the winner of our community poll. Which game will launch first? Which one did you WANT to launch first? We’ll know soon!
If you’re setting out to travel the world and challenge the fiercest warriors, you gotta stay hydrated!
Today’s raffle should be of use, as we’re giving away a Street Fighter IV travel bottle.
For only 300 points, you can enter to win this tall travel bottle, capable of storing up to 1.0 Litre (a little over 1/4 gallon) of your favorite beverage. It is also recyclable, dishwasher safe and can also withstand temperature up to 185 ° F or 85 ° C, though it doesn’t say anything about insulating all that heat… And was made in Switzerlamd!
The highlight for me, though, is the original Street Fighter IV character art… You know, the dev teams changed it for SUPER and it stuck until now with ULTRA, but I really enjoyed the watercolor (almost sumi-e ?) feel of the first game…
Add Minish Capcom as a friend and I’ll either invite you into a match, or you can invite me into match. Either way, we’ll be contributing toward the “2-Team Battle Killcount Challenge” event that runs through May 12. (It’s a new save so I’m only level 10 :3)
