TGS SSFIV AE Tournament Hosted by Mad Catz

Sep 10, 2013 // ComboFiend

Next weekend the Tokyo Game Show will happen in Tokyo (surprise!!), Japan. Besides showing off the latest games and gadgets, TGS will also play home to an epic tournament hosted by none other than Mad Catz. Hit the jump for more details from Street Fighter Producer Ayano.

Hello everyone, Tomoaki Ayano here!

Even though my first attempt to attend a fireworks show was spoiled by the rain, I finally got to go to one at the end of August! The fireworks were set off over the ocean, and I had a great vantage point, so it was a pretty powerful experience. I can’t think of a better way to close out the summer!

Anyway, on to the exciting stuff. On Sunday, September 22, Japan Standard Time, Mad Catz will be hosting a Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition ver 2012 tournament at their booth at the Tokyo Game Show!

Attending will be none other than the SFIV EVO champions for the past five years: the 2009 and 2010 champ, Daigo Umehara; the 2011 champ, Fuudo; the 2012 champ, Infiltration; and the recently crowned 2013 champ, Xian!

EVO 2009 SFIV, EVO 2010 SSFIV Champion Daigo Umehara

EVO 2011 SSFIV AE Champion Fuudo

EVO 2012 SSFIV Ver. 2012 Champion Infiltration

EVO 2013 SSFIV Ver. 2012 Champion Xian

All the SFIV gods will be clashing head to head in this tournament. The winner will earn a seeded position in the Capcom Cup, which will be held at the end of this year. But you gotta believe that for these guys, aside from just seeding, they’ve got their pride as champions on the line as well!

This tournament is open to the public, so if you happen to be in the neighborhood and want to test your skills against the very best, or if you think you’ve got a shot at winning it all and taking that Capcom Cup seed, this is a great opportunity to do so! Be sure to check out the Mad Catz homepage  for more details as they become available!

I’ll be there of course, and I can’t wait to watch it all go down! The event will be streamed by Mad Catz on their twitch channel , so be sure to tune in to catch all the action. If you see me on the stream, say hi! …Just as long as you don’t have any balance suggestions for your favorite character!

That’s all for this week. See you next week!
