Hands On With Monster Hunter Tri at CES

Jan 12, 2010 // jgonzo

Not only were we showing off Lost Planet 2 and throwing all kinds of crazy not-so-secret fight clubs at CES, but we also had plenty of people check out Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii. Both IGN and G4tv recently featured Monster Hunter Tri as part of their CES coverage with positive write ups. G4tv’s Patrick Klepek writes:

There have been some key changes made to make Monster Hunter Tri more appealing…as someone who traditionally dismisses a new Monster Hunter, Capcom’s reactions to feedback are noteworthy enough that I’m willing to give the series another shot with Monster Hunter Tri.

While over at IGN, Matt Casamassina discusses the improvements and changes in Tri in even more detail:

Previous Monster Hunter games have simultaneously proven too daunting for many new players because of their nearly insurmountable length and complicated online setup. The Wii version, of course, seeks to change all that… the title has been balanced so that gamers who spend less time in the world will still see many of its exotic locations and encounter a variety of powerful monsters.

Meanwhile, the online interface is much more approachable…Capcom shed the traditional Wii friend codes for an online interaction system built exclusively for the game.

It looks like the new Monster Hunter is well on its way to appeal to both new and hardcore fans alike, and that, my friends, is a very good thing.
