Resident Evil 2 is re-launching today as a digital download to the PS3 and PSP.  We’re talking the entirety of Raccoon City, Umbrella, and more, downloadable and playable on your Sony console of choice.  Imagine if we had the ability to take all awesome things and make them downloadable, instead of just awesome Capcom games.

For quite some time, Resident Evil 2 was the Survival Horror genre.  It brought chills to my spine, just like it brought chills to the spines of many others (Big shout-out to Mike for his 3-part RE2 recap here , here and here ). 

The story of this game belongs in a museum.  Zombies try to kill you, then you meet Ada Wong, there are some quite spacious sewers involved, Umbrella being evil, Rebecca in a basketball uniform, and then an unmentionably tense ending.  Release date be damned, this game almost made my top 10 releases for the decade.

If you’re excited about Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, but are Wii-deprived, know this: one of the best parts of that game is the inclusion of scenes from Resident Evil 2.  You know what other game includes scenes from RE2?  RE2.  Download it.
