Yes, it may look like your state, municipality, etc. is a foregone conclusion, but it’s only a foregone conclusion because a bunch of people exactly like you are willing to go out there and actually vote for their choices. And even apart from national and state elections, there are probably lots of zany referenda for you to vote on (referenda are where we can make all kinds of crazy changes to laws while nobody else is really looking, so read up on yours!). 

Finally, your boss is required to give you two hours to go do it, so go get some fresh air and breathe deep–it’s the smell of democracy!  Woot.
