::UPDATE:: Further translation credit goes to the sound team’s own Ken Usami. Great job on this piece!

Audio blog designingsound.org has an exclusive interview with Capcom’s Tomoya Kishi, the company’s Audio Director and Senior Manager of Audio Design and Production. Kishi-san has worked on audio engineering for a variety of Capcom brands, starting in 2001 with the  Onimusha series, then moving on to audio direct the  Lost Planet  games, and then  Dragon’s Dogma in more recent history.

The interview covers the joys of working on  Lost Planet , sound recording for Dragon’s Dogma, collaboration with Hollywood experts, and the challenge of juggling ten or more projects simultaneously. There’s also some great video footage of the  Dragon’s Dogma sound crew capturing audio from live animals and other things.

It can be very challenging to translate words expressing audio qualities, so it’s worth giving extra kudos to translator Daniel Levine and English editor Graham McRobbie. Great interview that’s definitely worth a look.
