Resident Evil Code Veronica: The Nostalgia Diaries (Ch. 3)

Oct 13, 2009 // MikeeB

Hey everyone! We’re back again to bring you some more tasty nuggets from Resident Evil Code Veronica in anticipation for next month’s release of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles . This post is going to cover off on the title’s soundtrack/score as well as some cool fan creations and art inspired by the game. See you after the jump!

Music

What makes a Resident Evil game so scary to you? Better yet, take a step back and really look at what draws you to any story driven media like TV, movies, or other productions of the sort. Picture Claire Redfield walking through a blood drenched hallway of Rockfort Prison. A zombie comes crashing through the window and all of a sudden “Mambo #5” comes blaring through your TV; hilarious, yes… but terribly out of place. My point is that a soundtrack/score can really make or break the story it’s trying to tell. Having music that fits is one thing, but having music that actually enhances the story/drama/action of the experience is something that really keeps me back series. Here are a few of my favorites from Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

–    “Ashford’s Music”
–    “Opening: Claire Version”
–    “Lacrymal”
–    “The Suspended Doll”
–    “Not Steve”
–    “Love?”
–    “Theme of Alexia Type 2”

I’m even victim of constantly whistling the melody of the “Ashford’s Music” around the office, what can I say, you hear it quite a bit during the game and it’s got a catchy tune! Playing through the game again recently reaffirmed my love for the game’s soundtrack which is one of the best in the Resident Evil franchise. Again this is just a sample of what the full title offers, can you guys think of any other good tracks/scenes?

Community Creations

A huge part of any game’s following is how the fans receive a title/franchise. You’ll see things like cosplay, fan art, replicas of items, hardcore collectors, fan fiction, and other neat little treats. I myself am a big follower of community creations so I thought I’d bring you some of my favorite art stemming from Resident Evil: Code Veronica…enjoy! Big thanks to Pockiomi, Ayleid, and PracticalAL for creating these gems… bonus points to PracticalAL who is now a full fledged Unity member! high fives all around! There’s even more cool Resident Evil art that they’ve created on their respective DeviantArt pages, so be sure to check them out! Got something you’d like to showcase?
