RE5 Gold Edition Director’s Blog: Regarding Costumes

Feb 26, 2010 // Mattdeezie

RE5 Director Anpo-san is back for his weekly blog about the new content being released for Gold Edition.  Enjoy.

Why Sheva is wearing a suit…?

The answer is quite simple. It is because we couldn’t go further with her skimpy outfit you see in the original version so we needed a style change.  I am guessing you all were shocked to see Sheva in her “Tribal” costume.

That was the best we could do for the fans to witness Sheva’s physical attractiveness. If we were to expose her skin more, the game probably wouldn’t have passed the rating.

So for the new costumes, we thought of what the fans would want to see.

I went to talk to the PC version developers and they mentioned the “Office Lady” outfit. I thought it was a great idea when I heard that suggestion, but at the same time, I was also partially suspicious that this “Office Lady” idea could be a result of Capcom workers fantasizing about their personal ideal image of the working lady, envying them or ……

Nonetheless, it is understandable that they want to see working ladies in an office suit since all the development team at Capcom dresses casual, so they don’t have the chance to see office ladies with a nice suit at work. That’s the brief story of how Sheva changed into an office lady with glasses.

Then, why does Sheva also have the “Fairy Tale” costume?

That was Associate Producer Suzuki-san’s (female) personal taste.  With her female point of view on what is cute and sexy, she suggested the “Fairy Tale” version of Sheva.

For Chris, it was pretty difficult to make the final decision; even harder than for Sheva. We’ve tried so many different versions but most of them didn’t fit Chris’s macho body. We eventually came to the decision of using the idea of a “tough guy with black leather outfit” and an “armored soldier,” since the original Chris was rather orthodox.

Hope you enjoy the new costumes.
