MotoGP 09/10 Production Blog: Reputation System
Feb 23, 2010 // jgonzo
QA Lead Derek Neal has spent a lot of time getting to know the ins and outs of MotoGP and he has generously decided to blog about his favorite things about the title. Presented below is the 2nd of several blogs. This one focuses on MotoGP 09/10’s reputation system .
In the last blog post , I talked about some of the exciting new features in MotoGP’ 09/10’s shiny new Career Mode. But one thing I left out is the Reputation system, which you can think of like the glue that holds the Career Mode together.
Racing in MotoGP’ 09/10 isn’t just about winning events and collecting money. It’s about building your own reputation. There are lots of ways to do this, but one of the best is to play to the crowd by gesturing, doing wheelies, and generally showing off. If you can pull this off while still winning the race, you’ll see a huge increase in your reputation. The roar of the crowd gets louder and more intimidating as their excitement level builds…and as you continue to take tight turns expertly, cut off other riders, gesture and preen, and complete objectives from your Sponsors, your reputation will also grow. Virtually everything you do in a race affects your reputation – the only limit to how much you can build is how much you think you can get away with!
As your reputation goes up, you’ll start to be approached by Bike Manufacturers that want you to race using their hardware. Better and more experienced personnel will also seek you out, and high-rolling sponsors will start offering big bucks to have their logo on your bike. In general, it’s a good thing to be famous. 🙂
