Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Dev Blog: “Is it Time for my Debut Yet?!”

Apr 30, 2010 // s-kill

Behold, a new MVC3 dev blog from assistant producer and all-around cool guy Kadowaki-san:

Greetings everyone, this is Akihito Kadowaki, the Assistant Producer for Marvel vs. Capcom 3!

We’re so happy that we were able to finally announce our newest title, “Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds”! (I’m not a native English speaker, but isn’t that title… kind of long?)

Wolverine vs. Ryu…
Iron Man vs. Morrigan…
The Hulk vs. Chris Redfield…

No matter which battle I watch from the trailer, I can’t help but get excited. And what about the final part with Ryu’s Shinku Hadoken! (FYI: We actually recreated Ryu’s model from scratch. Did you notice anything different about him?)

More than anything else, we’re making a game that is going to get the VS. series fans excited again, so we’d be really happy to hear what our fans first impressions are! We were also very, very pleased to announce the title at Captivate without any hitches, which could only have been possible with the fantastic support given to us by Marvel.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 represents a lot of firsts. It’s the first new Versus game on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and it’s also the first fighting game to use the latest version of Capcom’s internally developed engine, MT Framework. This will allow us to create a game that’s not only fun to play, but something that will be visually stunning, so keep your eyes peeled on the newest media!

We’re already well into development of the title, but we had to wait… and wait… and wait to show off what we were working on, so you can believe that we were really anxious to get the trailer out to the fans.

Although the announcement of the game went off without any problems, I wasn’t able to properly show up for the climax, so to speak. (Unfortunately… stuff happened.)

That’s just how it is though.  We can’t put the game on hold while we do promotional stuff, so we just need to overcome all obstacles and master our time and resource management skills.  What that means is that I can’t do anything during special events like Captivate…

Starting with our first announcement, we’ll be revealing more information about the game up until next spring, which is our projected release date. What characters will make an appearance!? You’ll be surprised at who’s going to show up, I guarantee that, so please keep checking in for updates!

The phrase that kicked off our debut trailer was “After a Decade of Demand”…

And the silhouettes at the beginning of the trailer… those who have taken a guess at them should be imagining “How will they look in this game?”, “How will they move?”, and “What kind of crazy combos will they have?”.

Don’t worry, we know what kind of quality our fans are expecting, and we won’t let you down!
