Let’s rap about SFXT Ver. 2013 Balance Tweaks

Nov 02, 2012 // Yuri Araujo

Street Fighter X Tekken Producer Ayano-san is back with a few thoughts on your feedback to SFxT Ver. 2013 changes.

Yo peeps, Tomoaki Ayano here.

It’s only the beginning of November, but I’m already shivering! I gotta get up early for work every day, and let me tell you, autumn mornings are pretty chilly! Even some of the people on my team have caught colds because of the weather…

At any rate, during my last blog entry we talked about getting opinions about the SFXTK Ver. 2013 updates and seeing if there’s anything we could look into further.

First off, I want to give a big thanks to everyone who posted their feedback online! We got a really good, comprehensive collection of opinions that really show just how much our fans love their characters.

We’re going to do our best to try and incorporate everyone’s opinions into the game to make SFXTK an even better product than before. I do want to comment on three ideas that many of our fans sent us though!

Pandora : We changed the time limit to 10 seconds, but there were a lot of fans who said that it was still too short to do anything worthwhile. Pandora is one of the big selling points of SFXTK and as such is something we have to handle with care. If it gets too powerful it has the potential to wreck the flow of the game. However, because of the feedback we got regarding Pandora, we’ll be taking a second look at it!

Wind God Fist (fastest input) : We understand that many people feel making the input for this move easier would cause imbalances. Kazuya is a character that relies on breaking an opponent with a variety of attacks and variations, and as such he’s balanced to be that way. Nevertheless, we’re going to continue tweaking this move so that it comes out just right.

Guile’s lowered vitality : We feel that Guile is a character with a very basic game plan; zone opponents out with his Sonic boom, and then when they get close, knock them back with a Somersault Kick. Of course there’s going to be skill gaps between players, but because there are characters in the game that have a hard time getting in, we want to slightly increase the risk that Guile has when someone gets close to him. Of course, we won’t just be tweaking his vitality; we’re going to take a look at other aspects of his character too.

As you can see, the SFXT team has been using user feedback as reference in working on Ver. 2013 . Personally, all of us here really want to get as much feedback from our fans as possible, even if we have to change the release date of Ver. 2013 . Once we sort out everyone’s opinions and make some more decisions regarding balancing the game, I’ll be sure to post it!

That’s it for now, I’ll be back later with more info!
