Keeping It Real, Texas-Style

Aug 15, 2008 // s-kill

Great feature on Kotaku today about Austin, TX’s new Arcade UFO .

EVO fixture and arcade true-believer Ryan Harvey shares my belief that arcades died not simply because of pressure from home consoles, but primarily by failing to serve their customers. With Arcade UFO, Ryan is putting his money where his mouth is, launching a new game center featuring some arcade classics as well as new superstars.

Read the article, and if you’re in the Austin area, by all means–go! Online games are great but there’s still no substitute for that arcade atmosphere.

Not in Austin, TX? Try a few other standout arcades from around the country. Off the top of my head:

Los Angeles: Family Fun Arcade

Chicago: Nickel City

New York City’s Chinatown Fair

Winchendon Massachussets: Tokyo Game Action
