Juicy Dead Rising 3 details – Coop partner, Psychos, and more

Sep 17, 2013 // GregaMan

Unity, I want you to meet Dick. Dick, Unity. Dick drives a big-rig by trade, but in the midst of the zombie apocalypse of Dead Rising 3, he’ll be your coop partner. When you sign online this November with your Xbox One, you and a friend will be able to take control of Nick and Dick and paint the town red—quite literally.

Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record already taught us the joy of cooperative zombie slaying, but you can expect it to be more satisfying than ever in DR3. Since you’re untethered to your partner, you can split up and take on the sprawling world of Los Perdidos from end to end. Or stick close together and utilize special coop-centric vehicles.

Awesomely, the game will save whatever progress you achieve in coop, even when you revert back to single-player. This adds a unique nonlinear element to the game’s story progression. If you’re still in the middle of Chapter 1 but you join your friend’s game online and clear Chapter 3 together, Chapter 3 will become cleared on your own save file, meaning that once you clear Chapters 1 and 2, you’ll have the option of skipping 3.

Also you can dress up like idiots together.

Of course, it just wouldn’t be Dead Rising if the world wasn’t peppered with murderous psychopaths, their minds irreparably addled by the harsh reality of the zombie apocalypse. Luckily, Psychos will indeed make a return in DR3. We’ll reveal more info on these crazy crackpots over time, but I can confirm that each one is based on one of the seven deadly sins–an intriguing twist on the Psycho concept! Here’s a glimpse of “Greed.”

Psycho indeed. Wonder what his deal is.

If you’re worried that seven deadly Psychos doesn’t seem like a lot, note that there are also regular human bosses–technically not psychotic, but jerks all the same. Dig this biker jerk.

I bet he’s not so bad if you can get him off that Roller Hawg.

You see? Pure science.

Anyway, that’s all the latest juice. But I still have a bevy of screens here, so keep scrollin’! More DR3 info in the near future, guys!
