It pains me to say this, but the PS1 launched 18 years ago today. I remember that magical morning on 9-9-95, fresh from viewing the Mortal Kombat movie and strutting into a Babbage’s to pick up my brand new Sony console (paid for with a pile of trade-in cash from my Genesis and Sega CD collection, a choice I regretted and corrected soon).

At first the boxes were identical to those Sega CD / Saturn cases, tall clear plastic with a manual insert. Then came the RE1 style cases with art on the interior. Third up were tall, cardboard-ish boxes like the one Street Fighter Alpha shipped in – and one of those could be yours!
