Game Informer Editor to Attempt Full Zombie Immersion

Aug 01, 2011 // GregaMan

Some of the folks over at Game Informer  have apparently become enamored with record breaking, with six different editors now pursuing six different records. One of these , being attempted by editor Tim Turi, is the record for “Longest Video Games Marathon Playing a Survival Horror Game”, where “game” apparently means “game franchise”. Tim has smartly chosen the Resident Evil franchise, a series whose genre-bending variety and sheer number of installments should both alleviate some of the challenge of this endeavor. As Tim puts it:

“If I get tired of the traditional survival horror gameplay, I can mix it up by playing Resident Evil 5’s terrific Mercenaries mode, or free up a hand to shovel food into my face by popping in RE: Darkside Chronicles and blasting away with a single Wii remote.”

If it counts, it counts, I guess. To break the record, he has to play Resident Evil games for at least 24 hours straight. No easy feat for your average bathroom-going adult! I can’t help but wonder what qualifies as a single “video games marathon”. I mean, he’s got to switch discs at some point. Doesn’t that count as an interruption?

Tim has thoughtfully noted that he hopes to avoid playing Code Veronica and Resident Evil 4, in anticipation of playing their HD rereleases when they come out next month. Let’s cheer him on!
