Fate/Unlimited Codes vs. Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny

Sep 16, 2009 // jgonzo

Gieson Cacho, video game columnist from the San Jose Mercury news, recently posted an article on his experiences playing with PSP fighters Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny and our very own Fate/Unlimited Codes. He pits the two of them against each other, comparing fighting systems, game modes, and art:

Fate/Unlimited Codes arrives like a revelation. To put in Street Fighter II terms, if Broken Destiny hits players like a strong to the chest, then Codes will surprise them like a fierce to the face. Eighting does a great job porting this PS2 game to the PSP.

As far as gameplay goes, the system is deep…it’s intricate, but it’s not as overwhelming as the encyclopedic array of moves players have to learn in Broken Destiny .

and in the end, he ultimately chooses the winner:

What matters most is the fighting system and modes, and in that department, [Fate/Unlimited] Codes is simply a knock out.

Fate/Unlimited Codes is available now for the PSP on the PSN store!
