1UP Spotlights Yoko Shimomura, Composer For Street Fighter II

Oct 26, 2009 // jgonzo

No one can argue that the music in Street Fighter II isn’t memorable: the songs were instantly embedded into your head and they’ve managed to survive over 18 years in mainstream video game culture. The person responsible for the majority of those iconic songs, Street Fighter II composer Yoko Shimomura, was recently highlighted by 1UP’s Jeremy Parish in an article . In it, she details her early career at Capcom, working on Final Fight, Street Fighter II, and (one of my personal favorites) Breath of Fire. Her love of RPGs eventually took her to Squaresoft, where she continued to work on blockbuster RPGs such as Parasite Eve and Super Mario RPG (two more of my favorite games of all time).

It’s a worthy read, and I recommend hopping on over there to read more about this musical prodigy.

Thanks Curleh !
